The Milan Cathedral, which you refer to as "the Duomo" is strictly called the "Duomo di Milano". So you're not wrong. But if you mention "the Duomo" to any Italian ... they'll think you are referring to Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence. That's THE Duomo.
Really crazy how people will be disgusted at the price. It’s like barking at Leonardo Da Vinci that he could’ve used the money that bought his paint on the snack for the poor.
St. Peter would hit the most expensive building to date on the planet. You have to factor in many situations like The history of the land, all the other buildings in St. Peter square, count only the good popes, all the statues, paintings, fabric, sculptures it’s should be around $50 billion dollar's!
I have been to five of these cathedrals, in Los Angeles, Barcelona, Milan, Paris and Rome. I do not like most of them.. Notre Dame is the best of those I mentioned but I prefer the churches of Sainte Chapelle in Paris, for its stained glass, and the cathedral of Seville in Spain, with its chapels and altars in pure silver or gold. Best of all is the centre of the Moorish palace of the Alhambra in Grenada, built for another religion and breath-taking. You can imagine Heaven as you gaze upwards.

If I had a couple billion dollars or more, I'd commission a church with the best aspects of many different cathedrals.
