What about the most sacred and historic site in the entire United State??? The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche is a Catholic Marian shrine located at the Nombre de Dios Mission in St. Augustine, Florida. Originally built in 1609 in honor of Our Lady of La Leche-a Marian apparition popular among the Spanish settlers in the area-it is the oldest shrine in the United States. From what I have been told, it's the site of the first celebrated Mass on this continent!
@@perrybruce4914 There’s Mass every day there at 12:00 noon 🕛 with the Rosary 📿 prayed at 11:30 a.m. Even visitors will be asked to lead a decade of the Rosary!📿
Thank you for featuring the top 5… now I know I still have to visit #2 and #5. The other comments already mentioned other beautiful important pilgrimage sites that I’ve visited as well, and I just want to add The Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament, Hanceville, AL; Our Lady of Schoenstatt Shrine-Miami; World Apostolate of Fatima, Asbury, NJ; National Centre for Padre Pio, Barto, PA; National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, Doylestown, PA.
In De Pere, WI, 24 miles from the Chapel of Our Lady of Champion is the National Shrine of St. Joseph on the St. Norbert College Campus. Each year in the spring there is the walk to Mary which begins at the shrine of St. Joseph and wends it's way to the Marian shrine culminating in Mass celebrated by the bishop. This attracts thousands of pilgrims each year
As a pilgrimage, none of these will move you like a visit to the Abbey of Our Lady of Ephesus in Gower, Missouri, Motherhouse of the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles. The Extraordinary Form of the Mass, singing of the sisters and the unembalmed and yet uncorrupted remains of the order’s Foundress, Sister Wilhelmina Lancaster will rekindle your faith. I had the privilege of going there this summer.
I was also there this summer. I attended the Traditional Latin Mass where the Sisters sang so beautifully I had tears in my eyes. The experience was heaven on earth.
Emmitsburg, MD has two shrines - the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes on the campus of Mt. St. Mary's University, and the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
The property had been condemned and the Diocese could not or would not purchase it. After 3 years on the market, an Oklahoma family purchased it and turned it into a museum. It is very beautiful with an amazing story. Definitely worth a visit.
It is sad that the Loretto Chapel is no longer a Catholic Church, however it is beautiful inside and the stairs are incredible. Go instead to Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of an Assisi In Santa Fe. They do tours of this amazing Church after Mass. The Missions around Santa Fe are beautiful in different ways. In Santa Fe you are a short drive to Chi mayo. This Shrine is an incredible blessing. 🙏🙏🙏
This was a great list of which I had no idea four of them even existed. Not that it would make this list, but one of my favorite destinations is The Grotto, the National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother in Portland, Oregon.
Two more places: National Shrine Of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA, North American home of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception (Fr Chris Alar, MIC, Fr Donald Calloway, MIC). An expansive shrine and church just north of the town of Stockbridge. on Eden Hill. It is also the home of the Marian Helpers Assoc. Then, near Belleview, IL , another large Marian shrine is Our Lady of the Snows staffed and run by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. It has a full size church, chapels, amphitheater, Stations of the Cross, Annunciation Garden, Resurrection Garden and even an inn and restaurant.
@@GM-bc8kg If you are not driving from home to Stockbridge, MA, flights are somewhat limited. Springfield, is not a big enough hub to accommodate commercial aircraft. So you have a few choices: fly to Hartford, CT and then drive the 40 or so miles to Stockbridge. Fly to Albany, NY and drive (the distance may be a bit shorter); or fly to Boston and drive westward across the state. Stockbridge is a small town (2,000 population) in the Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts. But however you travel, the National Shrine of Divine Mercy is well worth the trip. For me, it is vacation/retreat.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, Lewiston, NY. A farmer in the 1950's was fed up by failing to produce crops. Talking to a priest, he said he'd sell his land for a dollar. The priest pulled a dollar bill out of his pocket and the farmer kept his word. The Shrine began to be built
How about the Mission San Xavier del Bac a historic Spanish Catholic mission located about 10 miles south of downtown Tucson, Arizona, on the Tohono O'odham Nation San Xavier Indian Reservation. Just beautiful!
My favorites are: Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, Ohio; Our Lady of Good Help of Champion, Wisconsin; Sorrowful Mother Shrine of Bellevue, Ohio; Holy Hill, Hubertus, Wisconsin; National Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, D.C.; Basilica of Mary Queen of the Universe, Orlando, Florida; St. Paul Basilica, Daytona Beach, Florida; Our Lady of La Leche- Mission Nombre de Dios, St. Augustine, Florida; Chimayo, New Mexico; Our Lady of the Snows, Belleville, Illinois; St. Lawrence Basilica, Asheville, North Carolina; Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, Savannah, Georgia; Shrine of the Infant of Prague, Prague, Oklahoma & Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, St. Augustine, Florida.
6. Shrine of the Grotto of the Redemption (West Bend, IA) 5. Ave Maria Grotto (Coleman, AL) 4. St. Anthony Chapel (Pittsburgh, PA) 3. Sanctuary of Chumayo (Sangre de Christo Mountains, NM) 2. National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion (Brown County, WI) 1. Maria Stein Shrine of the Holy Relics (Maria Stein, OH)
The church of St. Vincent ferrer in Manhattan NYC. St. Barbara in Brooklyn nyc. The grotto of st. Lucy in bronx NYC. St. Stanislaus in Michigan city Indiana. St. Patrick's cathedral Manhattan NYC.
Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville IL. It is known for the annual Christmas display "The Way of Lights" which tells the story of the journey to Bethlehem and ends with a beautiful Nativity. Definitely worth the trip.
1:47 Basilica National Shrine of Our Lady Of Consolation in Carey, Ohio. People leave eyeglasses, crutches, wheelchairs and other items after they have been healed.
The Basilica of St Anne de Detroit Founded in 1701 The second oldest continuously operating parish in the United States Location is in Detroit Michigan It's a heavenly experience to attend mass there
These are great. Could also add, on an expanded list, Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine (Cardinal Burke's Shrine in Lacrosse, WI). Perhaps even the new St. Michael's Abbey (of the Norbertine Order) in southern California. Both of these show that beautiful churches are STILL being built (and beautiful liturgies even with the new Missal do actually exist!)
You don't even need to leave Ohio: Shrine of Our Lady of Mariapoch (Burton, OH) Basillica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon (North Jackson, OH) Shrine of the Holy Relics (Maria Stein, OH) Rhoda Wise House and Grotto (Canton, OH) National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation (Carey, OH)
I live in Indiana and I always say the same thing about our state. 1. Shrines of Christ’s Passion in St John. 2. Meinrad Archabbey. 3. Notre Dame campus and Basilica. 4. Carmelite shrines and Grottos in Munster. 5. St Mary of the woods… the list goes on.
@@purely_catholic right, I didn’t even mention them all of them in Ohio! There are many more. Ohio is also home to several Eastern Catholic Eparchies in addition to the Roman dioceses.
the city of Germain in Puerto Rico had a large historic collection of black virgins dating back 200-300 yrs in age from Europe. It was unlikely that any similar collection exists in the world. The collection disappeared prior to 2005 and nobody knew what happened to it. It would be tragic if it was destroyed. Furthermore, the church in Germain is the oldest in the western hemisphere. Pls consider showing it's history despite it is no longer a religious site.
No place can give you more grace than her own Medal of the Immaculate Conception…. “I have noticed that the devil seeks first of all, w/any excuse, to deprive his victim of the MIRACULOUS MEDAL of the IMMACULATA. God does not pay janitors, maintenance, parking lot outside or utilities. That's most of the money goes to. If they're really careful, anything left over is used for charity.

I want to visit the Stairs of St Joseph at Lorreto Chapel in Santa Fe

St Bernard is a beautiful place 😁
I've been to St. Anthony Chapel
St. Anthony Shrine in Ellicott City, Maryland
Interesting places. I doubt Mary would have had blonde hair though.
She is depicted as she was seen when she appeared to Adele Brise. A mystery no doubt!
Mary appears, as a rule, in the likeness of the people who live there. Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared as an Aztec princess.
The background music is extremely annoying, mute and turn on captions to watch.
I would LOVE to go to all🙏🏼✝️😇❤️
