    The Q7 is ugly af but has 7 seats, Toureg quite handsome but only 5 seats. Toureg would decimate q7 sales if it had 7 seats.

    You forgot to mention the 4 wheel steering. Just picked up my launch edition Touareg today. I gotta say wow it’s an amazing feature for the car of this size.

    Vw Touareg battle audi q8 and q7! Vw Touareg is not Premium! Vw Touareg is Luxury SUV and audi q7 and q8 is Premium SUV ! Vw is Luxury car and audi is Premium car! Vw > audi, it is clear ! Luxury > Premium !

    Good review. My last couple of cars have been VW's and when I start to think 'yeah I'll try something else next time' I see stuff like this. Looking forward to seeing the new interior in the next gen Golf's, Tiguans etc.

    Another great review of the model Tom, now here at home. Good to see that with the exception of the AC power socket, VAG didn't take all the niceties away, or expect a huge premium like the Audi's they sell.
    I do have one question, would you know if the towbar is the same as the EU style, ie fitted and hidden and you can hit the switch to deploy it, or are we still not ADR compliant on that EU style and here and forced to the aftermarket to have a towing capability.

    So tired of the whole 'every large SUV has to be a 7 seater' BS. I'll take a proper 5 seater than a compromised 7 seater. My first Skoda Kodiaq I specifically ordered a 5 seater, and for my incoming RS, it's gonna be a 5 seater as well.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally a valid opinion, but (A) it’s not BS, (B) the use case for a seven seater is clear, and (C) the option needs to be there for families, even if it’s at cost.

      I would say its more closely related to the Q5 than the Q7 its quite a bit small than the Q7, I just wish that VW had put the same tuning in their V6 engine as Audi did in the new Q5 3.0tdi.

    Not bad, I find the steering wheel boring though, at this price point it should be more interesting ,like the one on the Tiguan R line. The writing on the back is also a bit gaudy, looks like a Hyundai Sonata. I prefer it more discrete in the bottom corner. The price in Australia is also too expensive, plus the service and spare parts will be expensive too. Volkswagen means the car of the people, so it will always have a certain stigma attached to it, the “car of the people” isn’t really a luxury car is it ? Sure it is a nice car, but Volkswagen ain’t luxury in my opinion. I would only buy in the USA or Europe, in Australia it is too expensive and for the same money or less there are plenty of better options.

  • @stephenhendricks103
    @stephenhendricks103 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can't be too sympathetic regarding the limited trim option you have in Australia considering you have one more version than we get in the US. Sadly, VW discovered that the US market wasn't prepared to pay premium prices for a VW SUV. We wanted bigger and cheaper. So VW replaced the Tiguan with the Allspace in the US and called it the Tiguan and discontinued the Touareg altogether in North America and replaced it with the VW Atlas. And needless to say, VW dropped ALL diesel offerings in the US. Very sad for those of us who prefer vehicles with a European flavor.

  • @MaZEEZaM

    5 seat is my preferred, i like boot space and don't need 7 seats.

      @MC-nb6jx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MaZEEZaM .... How many folk actually use the third row of seats??
      Those that have are not really 7 seaters, more 5 with 2 cramped seats for dwarves or children.. If you want 7 seats get a people carrier🤔🤔

    Pronounced "Twareg". It's a French word ("ou" = "w").

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s a name for an African nomadic tribe. So I went there and asked them! Turns out it’s a hybrid of the two pronunciations. Too-are-egg.

    • @bigyin2586
      @bigyin2586 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chasing Cars according Wikipedia, the Touareg tribe’s name is pronounced “twareg”. The German (mis-) pronunciation is probably due to their difficulty with pronouncing the “w” sound. In any event, the German pronunciation is “Too-ar-ek” not “Too-ar-eg”. But I still enjoyed the review, diction notwithstanding.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A seven seater with a sliding middle row is the best solution in our view. These are primarily family cars, and if you have two parents, two children and two of their friends, you need three rows.
