It's kind of funny, as I like to check out numerous webcams in Norway and Finland, especially when it's winter in those countries. Anyway, I 'escaped' from Auckland over 20 years ago, as it was too oppressive of a place for me, and moved to a small seaside town on the Coromandel Peninsula. I would strongly urge you to do a tour of the Coromandel region before you head south, as I think it will help you to decompress after living in Auckland. It's really quiet here since the main road in got wiped out by the cyclone, but you can still take the scenic route up the coast via Thames, then back down the east coast, all the way south. There's a number of freedom camping areas available in most places, and D.O.C (Department of Conservation) has a number of cheap campsites, as well.

That is exactly what we did, and Coromandel has been gorgeous! We are planning to go back there in a few months :) You live in a beautiful place!

I can't wait ☺ We have been really enjoying the North Island but I feel like the South is going to me even more majestic!

Do you know the rules around self contained campers and freedom camping? Best to look them up, but if you don't have a toilet on board then DOC staff will move you on, and I think there can be fines as well. I've been away from NZ for a few years so I'm not sure what the latest rules are.

We have familiarized ourselves with the rules, and we are self-contained which gives us many options. New Zealand is really accomodating to this kind of lifestyle, which is truly amazing 😊

Im planning to visit new Zealand for 2 months , what's the best and the worst in your experience about NZ?

The people in this country are amazing! Everyone is so helpful, friendly, and generous. The nature is of course also incredible. The diversity of the tree, plants, mountains, and wildlife is something you don't experience in many other countries. I didn't have many bad experiences but I would say maybe Auckland CBD, I did not feel my best in that area. The surroundings a bit outside of Auckland are already beautiful so it is worth spending some time out there.
