W900 is a nice truck. It’s a very heavy truck with bad fuel mileage. I don’t know how long you’ve been doing this but there’s a whole lot more to buying a truck than just what you like. Most salesmen won’t inform you of these things. Their job is to sell trucks. Weight, fuel mileage, wheelbase FET taxes, state taxes, heavy use tax, sales tax(exempt in some states), turning radius, difference in warranties, company lease requirements. ALOT. I’ve been an O/O for 35 years and have seen many folks buy a nice new truck and immediately regret it due to not getting what they need vs what they want. Do your homework or you’ll end up with a 300,000 headache. Just bought a 2025 KW T680 with a stretched sleeper. It took 2 years to find THE truck that would work for my situation. You need someone you trust that is VERY knowledgeable in this field to help you. And yes, there are many women,my wife included that have the knowledge to assist you. It’s not just men out here anymore.
YES, I agree daves2552!!! I always thought of this sort of thing as shopping for a drivetrain and chassis more than just a truck. Find a truck that fits what your going to be doing with it and make sure that truck is a money maker. Looking cool and making money may not always be the same thing.
Plus the frames tend to break right behind the front wheels..😅 plus the price for kw parts are normally more expensive than other trucks...she would be better of with a short slope hood truck with a shorter wheel base....but kw900 and 379 are still my favorites
Do you know W9 is not bad on mileage and you want to know how a heavy duty truck saves your life!? I’ll tell you right now if you’re in head on collision that’s the truck you wanna be in! On 5/30/24 I was in my 2007 W 900 when another semi hit me head on at 65 miles an hour that driver passed away. And I didn’t. Do I need to say anymore? I drive from Vegas to Phoenix every single day and I used between 96 and 97 gallons a day which was 532 miles. Mileage also depends upon how you drive the truck how fast you’re going, etc. and if you know how to shift your gears big part on your field mileage. And I will never have a truck that uses DEF. And to the chick in video. Looks don’t mean shit in a truck. There’s a lot more that is way more important.
I’m not sure why but the KW’s (W900L & T680) catch my eye more than the trucks that Peter built. Thanks for sharing your journey and congrats again for reaching 100k.
If I may give you some advice. If you are planning to go on your own. I would not buy peterbilt or a kenworth parts for either brand are extremely expensive unless you have deep pockets. For example a turbo charger for a cummins is around 8000.00 to 9000.00 dollars. All I can tell is do your homework and buy something the you can afford. My first truck I bought cost 11,000.00 and made money with it. And yes it was a freightliner. Cheap to maintain.
Ok Fam now you talking!!! Getting your own truck, running your own business is a great move for you. You are a really good driver, your backing instinct is over the top!!! Prices are down on new trucks and trailers. Buyer’s market!!! When do buy do not let them hook your truck to internet so they can send engine codes to your truck, you in the shop all the time. Usually the way they get your vehicle tied to the internet is through a vehicle app!!! Don’t use their app. Do your homework and shop around. Do not buy a truck with a paccar engine.
Lmfao no it's not!! She will not break even paying for a 200k$ plus truck pulling a fucking poverty reefer! She's looking at Cadillacs when she shld be looking at pentos!! That alone shows she doesn't need her own truck. She will lose her ass in the big ppl world of owner operator! I'm an owner op and I had the same big intentions she did looking at new trucks. Then I did the math. You make nothing exspecially reefer hauling! And ull spend the next 5 to 7 years putting all your money in that truck. Cuz those trucks don't just take payments they take maintenance and they break down. She will go broke in a year. She has no clue how to even shift let alone do finances. Your first truck shld be older and well maintained. I drive a badass 1984 peterbilt 359 and I still had to switch to hauling grain and cattle cuz reefer rates are shit
Glad your career is moving forward and you're moving out of your comfort zone to try new things! Shows you have ambition and drive and not afraid to think outside the box. I'm convinced you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. One day you may have a fleet of trucks and many drivers!! Much success to you!!!
if you’re gonna buy a truck buy it privately owned one driver one owner and make sure you take a mechanic with you and check everything thoroughly before purchasing it. The dealer is going to rip you off. Don’t go there. The dealer has trucks that are no good that’s why they brought them there to trade them in for new ones.
My absolute favorite is the Kenworth W900L with the classic chrome gauge package. Simply beautiful, plus it’s a lot bigger than a Pete on the inside. And cheaper to maintain.
@@_aboutsteffanie they're definitely heavier because they're better built!! They have optional sleepers that are huge, too! Honestly I like the dash layout more than anything. My Granite is a day cab, I can't speak for the anthem but the granite cab is far bigger than the narrow paccar cab.
