I'm a Christian but I always went to the temple with my mum. I love listening to Buddhism, it is such a great philosophy and brings great peace to my mind.

Buddha also became a Christian saint for 900 years as Barlaama and Josaphat.

@@thatsall2129 well actually there are some differences. Gotama was a Sramana Hindu(looking inward instead of out) who didn't see the truth in the Vedas choosing his own path creating the foundations of the Buddhist religion. It's why there are many similarities because Buddhism came from Hinduism.
Edit: just like most if not all other religions came from Hinduism in one way or another.

    3 powerful points I understood
    1. To stop doing something, we need to start another activity as a replacement
    2. Before doing anything or making any habit, if we analyse it's pros n cons, we can decide easily whether doing that particular thing is good for us or not
    3. We can not live peacefully if we don't forgive first and then forget unnecessary things.. as life is short to live with hatred thoughts

    Dear Buddhist,
You say simple practical things things but you don't tell us your name!.
I just happen to be awake this hour.I have retired from working for 42 years from Workers Compensation in a clerical capacity. And had completed 64 credits to receive an Associate's in Arts degree from the Borough of Manhattan Community College which is a campus of CUNY.I had graduated with the class of August 1987The tuition was paid for with a grant Also I had graduated from the Public School system in June of 1974.Also I have never been fired from any job I have been employed steadily since 5hen and have never been fired from any job since then.Your demeanor is a breath of fresh aiir.tt is very easy to follow what you are simple. Also I
find what you are saying universally applies to all cultures, denominations, and socioeconomic divisions It is nice to hear your message

Exactly.. anger, jealousy, pride, hatred etc there are so many negative thoughts that we give a place to reside and that place is our mind.. And if one wants to get rid of all these they should start practising meditation..and with time and your dedication you will start feeling calm coz meditation helps you to meet that pure soul which is residing in your body and which is tge creation of the Almighty.. And once you will acknowledge it you will start feeling that inner peace within yourself and where there is that satisfaction then there is no place for all those bad habits.. Namo Budhaye🙏

at the root of anger jealousy pride hatred etc is the attachmet to a self and an ego. The root fix to alleviating those symptoms is to rid oneself of the false notion of a 'self' in the sense that it is something permanent and inherently existant seperate from all other phenomenon. Meditate on the interdepenedence of all things and the transient, impermanent nature of all things to understand untuitively why there is no 'self'. when there is no 'self' there is nothing for the mind to be jelous of, noone to be angry at, noone to hate, no pride tohave, etc.. all those things will natural dissapate without effort when you realize there is no 'self'

@@dushantsakhareagree, but most cannot tell this difference. The biggest difference is in the soul concept. In Hinduism, there is a soul (self) and it travels from one birth to the next. In Buddha’s teachings, there is no solid ‘self’ or an ‘unchanging soul’ that we can pin point to. Everything changes due to cause and effect. What goes from one birth to the next is a ‘consciousness’ (cause) that takes root in another birth (human or non-human) and that is the effect conditioned by that consciousness that escapes the body at death. The ‘self’ we refer to is formed of 5 khandhas that is changing from moment to moment (form, feeling, perception, mental formations and consciousness).

Is so funny when I heard him say you’re always angry I’m like this me so sad but true. I have actually improved and become more aware of my thoughts. I’m glad this discovered this channel it is very help and it just makes alot of sense what the guy is teaching. Sorry don’t know his name. I find his analogy pretty funny and definitely relatable and extremely helpful. Thank you mr. Buddhist monk.

Very valuable. Buddhism teaches personal development. However part 2 of this sermon should be the middle path way to deal with anger and frustration is politely communicating to the other person who made you angry or frustrated about boundaries or else people will run all over you in this world because you do not communicate your boundaries. Even Buddha had imposed certain boundaries and rules to maintain balance of living.

Developing evil thoughts is like to feed dangerous animals which would lead us to the ditch of darkness. What a wonderful metaphor is used in this video, sermon.

    Dear Sadhu, 🙏🏻
After watching your videos, I felt of asking solution and suggestions for few things which is hurting and making me restless for years..
I am the girl born in middle class family, when I was child every relationship and life seemed so beautiful and not even a single time I felt the elders I met would be double faced.but things were not as same when I was growing up for no reason I was been scolded, ignored, body shamed and picturised as world's lazy person. Now the happiness in my life disappeared I could only feel their anger, complaints and only negativity around me. Even till today in my mind the people who are hurting me are been remaining same old beautiful people of my childhood.
Why people hate me for no reason? I never use to poke my nose into anyone's life and mind my own business but still I was taken for granted and been criticized every single time. Whom I thought are my people now they are reason for my pain.
Happiness is disappeared, only questions remaining "Why?"
To escape from getting humiliated I stopped talking to many and walked away. But I am restless without the answer for being mistreated and not knowing to get out of the negativity around and within me.
I never know whether you will be addressing my comment or not but atleast I have a place to share my heaviness in the hope of finding solution.
    Thanks!

The reason you are facing in this life is Karma
what you have sewed last life now you are harvesting
i also have similar situation but thanks to Buddhas preaching
      i understood the reason
its best not to hate those who hurt you
      try
if you can go away and start your life new with peace
if you cannot continue to listen to Buddhist preaching and meditating "maiththri " meditation
some time those who horrible to us makes us to pass this life easily means walks towrads Nirvana
      are you sri lankan ?
if you are then go to ASAPUWA they will help you

When overthinking we have very sensitive minds. So when something happens it can overwhelm us. We need some method to shut down these thoughts.

Hello, Telugu. I know you asked this 2 months ago, so forgive me if this post is of no use to you. Lord Buddha has a discourse on meditation which could help you a lot. It's called the Vitakkasanthana Sutta. You can find that discourse and many more here: www.paliaudio.com/mn20-stilling-of-thoughts
May all be well and happy. 🙏

Overthinking (rumination) is a habit. Watch this video again and think about it that way. Also, noticing these thoughts and gently reminding yourself to let them go, even if for a little while, helps. Meditation practice can help with this. Good luck (from a fellow overthinker 🙂)
