Great Vid . Ty . i have a 2020 SR5 with 79K miles , Zero issues. Just changed Tranny and Coolant Fluids as PM. Oi / Filterl changes every 7500 miles. Use mine to Tow my RV as a Travel RN. Just FYI, The Car Care Nut on TH-cam is a Toyota Master Mech. and he is seeing the Head Gaskets Fail @ 150 - 200 k Miles on Left Bank between Cyliders 5 & 7 . The Mechs are thinking that the Owners are NOT changing their Coolant at 60K or Never changing it , and Coolant is becoming Acidic and Eating the Head Gasket. But theres also 5.7 Tundras on TH-cam that have 500-750 K miles on them with out a Head Gasket Failure , so idk on those high mileage Tundras Maintence being done .
good review. i'm loving my 2016 platinum crewmax. yes it's a thirsty bugger, but i consider that a small price for the comfort of knowing this truck will keep on going and going and going ...
Thanks for all these great owner review videos. Been picking up a lot from you sir! Just got my 19’ SR5 with 115K miles. Done a few mods but will def do some of the same functional mods you’ve done. Considering making the exhaust dual next.
I have a 2012 used primarily for towing a three horse bumper pull trailer, right around 8000 pounds loaded. I cannot have failures with livestock as you can imagine. Mine is not as loaded as yours, but it has the same drive train. Mine has 180K on it, so far the only repair is a front wheel bearing and one rear caliper. I live in Michigan on a dirt road so environment may have something to do with it. I also replaced the lug nuts for the same reason you did. Great truck, no complaints.
In MI you've also got some of the worst highways (lack of maintenace) outside of Louisiana. But you've got the prettiest state in the union between June and October... so it balances out.
Loved the review but American engineering? It was technically designed here but with the help of mostly Japanese engineers. Either way it's the best truck I've owned by far. Can't wait to get my hands on a new one.
I've got 2014 crewmax 5.7 160,000 k 3 inch lift and I love it ,I don't baby it ,one thing I did do was brake upgrade all around, I got power stop z36 heavy duty tow and off road and its absolutely awesome.
Great review. I've got 15,000 miles on my 2021 Tundra TRD Pro. I plan on keeping it for a long time. The TRD dual exhaust sounds mean and the Fox suspension is awesome. My Tundra is the same color as yours which I think is the best color. Merry Christmas!🤠
I have about65k on my 2020 CM Limited 4x4 and is by far the best truck I have owned. Very happy with the purchase in 11/2019. $46k then compared to today’s limited price of $60k for a similarly equipped truck.
I had an 07’ with the 4.7 and that thing ran smooth as glass! Had 295k when I sold it for my 17’ with the 5.7. Will say I think the 4.7 runs smoother and motor sounds nicer at an idle, but the 5.7 is smooth and runs nicer then my work van with an v8. I’ve had issues with the flex fuel reading the fuel mix wrong so I had to replace spark plugs at 75k. Very solid and I’m happy with it! Went to the Tetons and yellow stone and averaged around 20mpg for a week ( normally in longer tips 17-18mpg ) and then back Boise.
I have the og grew cab I bought new for 34k - I m rounding 320k of some hard driving , the motor , ride and acceleration are the same as if I drove it out of the showroom in 2004. Third Toyo vehicle with well over 250k each.=5k oil changes and air filters -that was all I ever did .
Good video. I'm new to the Tundra. I just purchased a 2021 SR5 with 17k miles. I came from a 2002 yukon xl denali that I purchased new and have 215k miles on. I loved that vehicle and it is still runs great. Just a lot of little things are wearing out. So im used to poor fuel economy. At 68 I plan on this Tundra to be my last vehicle and purchased it hoping for the reliability. I would say that the main con of this vehicle is the lack of interior individualized storage compartments. It has a single small glovebox, no little item keeper cubbys.. places on the console just have flat spots rather than pockets. I'd like to know what tonneau cover you have? That will probably be my next purchase. I look forward to more of your reviews.
Thank you for a no nonsense review. I just got a 2018 1794 TRD off road, and I am thrilled. It only had 27k miles and appeared to me as a new truck. I am considering adding some kind of suspension assistance for towing but not sure what is most effective. I also like the snap on tow mirrors and would like to see a review of yours in use, pros and cons. What are your normal maintenance items? Oil and additives if any. Thanks again for your post.

Shute, I looked, I have 140,000 miles on my 2017 CM Tundra as well. You have a great truck that was built with Land Cruiser Legendary reliability. Something Ford, RAM, or GM, do not say is even in their design principle. I have tinkered with the TRD PRO suspension and went back to the stock TRD Off-Road suspension, I found out, that Toyota stock is the best for the truck itself. It is like keeping it real. The only other mod I was thinking about is the LED headlights. The only repair I had to do to it was a "leaking" but still working water pump. Crazy right? GM motors are bombing out at 30000 like in the 1970's. This beast will go another 100,000 Justified, care free, totally rockin' it miles, no sweat.
I wondered why the truck that I love has scratches all over the plastic on the doors. I baby my truck and yes I use it, carry some luggage, etc, but don’t abuse it. It’s a 2016 and garage kept, looks like new. My complaint outside is the paint scratches like the plastic, you can breathe on the paint and it scratches. I’m struggling with towing my max weight 7,500 camper, 26’ long, 700 lb tongue weight. I absolutely LOVE MY TUNDRA, but struggling with towing, getting a wiggle in the rear over 45 mph and especially on rough roads. I’m working on tweaking the equilizer hitch to see if it improves, and praying it works. I’m feeling sick if I can’t get this thing to tow my camper. Others seem to tow thousands of pounds more with no issues.
My 2018 Lance 2375 had those same basic specs, and no real issues. I'd take it through the CAT scales loaded and see if enough weight is being put on rear axle of the truck

Im looking at a used gen 2 Tundra, which trim is best for towing? Is it worth it you think to sacrifice some towing capacity for better interior with the limited and platinum?
most important thing is to get the trim you like, they'll all tow great. Having the tow package is ideal, less to add. Some SR and SR5s don't have it. All upper trims do. If you prefer the longer bed, you can get a Limited DC, but 1794 and Platinum only come in Crew Cab. Personally, I like the comfort features in the upper trims, but certainly aren't necessary.
@@krakenjunkremovalyes sir, upper trims all have that beefy 4.3 rear axle. My ‘21 Platinum has that as well and tows like a dream! I did add the TRD rear sway bar and the TRD dual exhaust to let that big 5.7 breath a little easier. Love the performance and sound😊
