Can you guys do a video on the Nissan Titan (post 2020 trans and hp boost) refresh and if possible do the SV trim?? It has some new safety standard and tech too. I get the Pro4x is the off roader but the SV is the trim that most people buy so I would love to see it go through the tests you guys put it through.

Most likely the best built truck available today. Not the latest gadgets and tech, poor fuel economy but it will never let you down like the domestics. Not to mention the amazing value and resale value.
Probably more domestic than the "domestic" brands. Being built in Texas with most parts made in North America. Toyota was smart to do this to win over the domestic market. I will always drive a Tundra here in Canada.

A good friend of mine cross shopped all the half tons and ended up buying this exact Tundra due to interior simplicity and long term reliability of the 5.7L V8. He couldn't be happier.

I went out there fully expecting to get an F150 (having just sold two Mustangs), or a RAM. V8 was a must-have.
The 1794 is top of pack, alongside the Platinum. I got mine with a spray-in bedliner and dealer installed TRD Pro exhaust for under $50k USD out the door! The Ford and RAM, were $10-20k more, unless they were stripped.
Tundra all day long.

Simplicity and reliability is key.
The Tundra is a tried & true truck. Getting you from point A to point B in a safe & dependable manner. Sure it’s behind on so many new gadgets & gizmos, but as my father used to say, that’s just less to go wrong.
Truck prices have risen to a price I never thought possible. When spending my hard earned money I’ll go for the better value & reliability record any day.
I have had all of the big 3. All of them have started having major problems by 100000-130000 miles. I have never heard of any of the big 3 going a million miles. I finally bought a Tundra. Great so far. I don't know what people think is lacking...America is full of weak pussies that need to be pampered I guess. I feel like I am in luxury with an automatic transmission, A/C, power locks and windows....and RELIABILITY. Fuck all the high tech shit, I want a truck that goes 500000 miles with basic maintenance. None of the big 3 have shown they will do that.

Just picked up a 2021 Tundra. Couldn't be happier! Came from a Chevy diesel and love the feel of driving the Tundra. And always wanted a V8 which might not be available much longer. Nice review.

Dad is awesome and yeah I love the simplicity of my Tundra.
I have had 3 tundras amidst other trucks. Currently own 2 (for business) and they have been the most consistent trucks for me. I have 250k on the one, with only oil changes and brakes done. 120k on the other with only fluids and brake pads done. We tow 8-10k almost every day, they have never let me down. Also great offroad. Dont be afraid of the payload “limitation”. Add a leaf and you will be pleasantly surprised at what they can handle.
I would love to see your dad's Tundra footage! I'm on my second Tundra and couldn't be happier. This truck may lack in features, but it's a proven platform that does the job you ask of it.
To be honest they really don't lack. Safety sense with autonomous braking and adaptive cruise is standard. So is navigation. Also has features others don't offer, like the full roll down back glass and the in cab adjustable headlights where you can adjust your headlight level with a thumb wheel on the dash. Toyota has offered this since 2007, the big 3 still don't offer it. It also has a 10.5 inch 4.30 rear end. You can get heated and ventilated seats just like the others as well as a nice JBL system. Only thing the tundra really needs for me is a 360 camera. It may only have a 6 spd but its a bulletproof transmission that will out last the transmissions that the big 3 offer.
I love the tundra, it’s stupid simple! Life’s already complex don’t need a truck to make it more.

TFL Trucks did a test while towing and it wasn’t a problem, but I’d like to see it tested in the desert.

Seriously though I think if it says 1000 pounds payload I think that's in the bed not the cab. The gvwr is payload, passengers and truck. If it says 1000 pounds payload then put 1000 pounds in it. Don't think you need to worry about who's in the cab.

I’ve had the 2021 Tundra 4 months, bought it new… so far I’ve put 11,700 miles on it. Hopefully this truck lasts, it’s my first Toyota. 👍

2012 Tundra CM 4WD with 189k miles. Drives awesome. Drinks gas but most tundra owners don’t care. Love knowing that it won’t break down on me like others!
Great to hear. I bought a 2012 CM Limited August 2018 with 42,000 miles. Now have 55,000 miles, so hope mine lasts for 189,000 miles or more. Great truck and plan to keep it forever!
This is honestly one of the best videos I have watched on TH-cam about the Tundra. I recently purchased a new 2021 Tundra TRD Off Road with a 38 Gallon fuel tank and towing mirrors. Besides the sucky gas mileage, the truck exceeds all my expectations, especially when towing my 28’ Airstream. I looked at the Big 3 pick ups, but too many bells & whistles and technology. Being an old fart, I enjoy a more basic, reliable, strong V-8 pick up. Guess I’m old school. Thanks again for this video, it confirmed my decision on buying my Tundra.

It’s hard working, reliable truck. It’s just ancient. If you’re not worried about gadgets or fuel economy, it’s the perfect buy in my opinion. ( I’m a Toyota guy)

It’s a fragile truck that will fall apart after doing real work. Tundras fail box rigidity tests and their rear ends warp very easily

I like the Tundra , I like the V8 , not too concerned about the MPG , I like how smooth and powerful it is , not to mention the most reliable truck in this segment, in my opinion. So I say yes 👍👍 two thumbs up for the Tundra
@@GeorgiaGuy56I could not agree more with you. With all the same thought in mind I got mine 2021 model. Regarding newer Gen Tundra 2022 and up, I have huge doubts those trucks will be as reliable. The have overcomplicated the powertrain by putting more gears in the tranny and dressed up motor with 2 turbochargers. Well, time will tell if I was right.

I thought I wanted a spray in bed liner, but the drop in has a big advantage. It is a LOT easier getting things in and out with the drop in. Things slide in or out with no problem. Every 2 weeks we do our big grocery shopping and the drop in liner makes getting the groceries in and out so much easier. Dump runs are easier. Furniture moves are easier. I've grown to really appreciate the drop in!

I just bought a 2018 Tundra Crew Max Limited in that same cement color with the off road package and only 42,000 miles! It’s certified pre owned to boot and I love it!!

I'm with you. I embrace tech in many ways, but when it comes to my trucks, I want it to be very nice on the inside, yet very rugged and dependable where it matters.
Great video. Honest and real. I drive a 2014 SR5 Toyota Tundra 5.7 V8 2x2 and pull a 25fb Airstream trailer. Weight 6,000 pounds and zero issues. On Toyota I have firestone rear air shocks, flow master exhaust, EZ Stop Z36 brakes. Prodigy electronic braking system. I love the Toyota. My buds are all diesel pushers and they even say this Toyota pulls the Airstream with zero issues in power, control, braking, climbing, smoothness and sway. I swapped the stock brakes and did not like the braking power of the truck without towing. I was able to pull truck and trailer with a 15 gallon Titan Sidekick due to 26 gallon tank and drove 275 miles on 101 southbound and got 13.2 mpg. Decent about 1%. On the way back I got 12.2 mpg. I seldom drive with Tow Haul mode on. Climbs yes, and more important on descents for braking and control but most of the time 75% do not need it. This Toyota is a collector and my friends that own there diesels now are paying the big $$$. There is a saying that everyone loves a Diesel until the warranty has expired. the emission standards are choking the Diesels to death. Gas is the new Diesel. I'm a fan of the Diesel but you need money and if your pulling real weight go with that train. This Toyota pulls better than many 2500's that I have tested out including Dodge and Ford. Dodge best braking power and solid torque on the diesel 2500. The gas is clunky and both of those models have real transmission problems. The Ford has power but damn when something goes wrong it is in the shop for weeks at the dealerships. Toyota is made in Texas!! Dodge & Ford I think Mexico.

Great video. One of the best I've seen on the Tundra. I own a 2013 Tundra TRD/SR5 Crewmax, though not 4X4, and recently decided to keep it rather than trade for something with the bells and whistles. It's a beast when pulling and has super comfortable seats and wow, the expansive back seat...great for my kids. I also love the sliding rear seat. I believe that they did away with that feature in 2014. It allows you to recline the back support seat for a more comfortable road trip.
To me, my Tundra has a hint of old school charm. Port injection. Loud fan at startup. V8 rumble.

Love my '20 so far! You ought to do the Labrador run in each of the big 3 trucks to test reliability. My last 2 new rams stranded me in limp mode during excursions.
Meanwhile I have a 2011 Tundra base truck and I look at the interior of that one and think it is a space ship. I love my great big buttons and not having to hunt for anything in any menu.

I've owned two tundras (2010 & 2016) but now looking at a 4x4. I was looking at other makes because of better gas mileage, but I think I'm sticking with Toyota. This was a great review, probable one of the best...
More Tundra footage please! As far as bed liners go, I would avoid the plastic drop in liner. I've seen what it does to a bed after years of use. Spray in is the way to go.

i absolutely love my 2019 platinum tundra, i did alot to it. dropped another 15-20k into it. like it way more than my 2014 z71 or dodge hemi. both were a major let down after being stuck in shitty situations, i decided reliability was the most important thing to me

Every truck I ever had a drop in bedliner had moisture and rust issues underneath. I only do factory spray-in bedliners now (or no bedliner and get a spray-in from a local shop).

I don't tow anything and would probably be using the truck to transport family and things in the bed. Mid sized trucks are too small for me. Honestly I want a fairly reliable truck that will do some light truck things and get decent fuel economy. No need for huge amount of power or wasting gas just driving around
I have a 2012 double cab with 10 ply tires and airbags in the rear. I’ve put easily 2,900 pounds of material a couple of times and it took it like a champ.

I was on the same boat. When i heard they were getting rid of the v8 i made the jump. Didnt want to rosk not getting the truck exactly as i wanted it especially since covid has hindered production i ordered the platinum. I pick it up in april
I believe the best bed liner is the spray on. The plastic insert one leaves the possibility of water getting between it and the bed causing corrosion.

I own a 2013 Tundra with the 4.6 , sr5-TRD and I love it. Avg 19 highway which is almost as good as my old 04 tacoma -20 mpg. I like the drop in bedliner. Payloads slide out easier and mulch&loam are easier to clean out of the bed. This was my first visit to your channel and I liked it, will check out more episodes. I also would love to see the 4000 miles Labrador trip. Thanks Guys! Great job!

Great video. I'm a huge Tundra fan. I had an 08 sr5 and now a 19 platinum. Would love to see video of that long trip with the Tundras.
Old doesn't bother me, however, there's a few creature comforts I'd like to see added, like a retractable bed step and lighting. I've got a lot of upgrades on my 07 and it's still stupid reliable; I love it like no truck I've had before. Wish it got better mpg's, but comes with the territory. I wasn't expecting miracles with 35s and a 6 inch lift, but I do spend a lot of time at the pump with the 5.7...
Being born and raised in Goose Bay, Labrador, I know that road very well. I've been in Alberta now for 12 years, and would love to see the footage of that trip. I seem to recall seeing it somewhere else, but would enjoy seeing it again. Thanks for the videos.

Great review! You should have reviewed the TRD Sport Premium. $4k more and you get leather seats and steering wheel, dual zone climate control, sunroof, push button start, TRD Sway bars & spray in bed liner. Best bang for your buck for any V8 truck!

There's a few things you guys could have touched on , like the roll down rear window, electronic adjustable headlamps, the fact that the 5.7 is one of, if not the most reliable V8 gas engines in the segment . Plus the transmission is built by Aisin ( known for building reliable tough transmissions) Also the gearing is 4.30 not 4.10. Which is class leading as well .

@@DStabs720 Actually, no, it's not insane when the big 3 offer more payload and towing capacity, along with better fuel mileage.
But the better fuel economy and payload comes with a price. Its called broke down in shop a lot and to much glitchy electronics and bad resale. I stick with toyota for simplicity. My rams and Fords and chevys all been complete disasters in my experience.

That Tundra has a 4.30:1 rear axle ratio. So it’s even more aggressive that the 4.10:1 he said it had.

Taco fan boy here. My fifth and most recent 2017 TRD OR has that composite bed and I love it when hauling around shooting match/contest supplies. I use those black Home Depot milk crates for $5.97 each to carry supplies and they slide in quickly and effortlessly. Around the corners in town, these milk crates do slip a bit, but I should just slow down. Ha ha ha. Be strong and be safe out there!!

Drop in bed liner makes it easier to load things in and out since items tend to slide on the plastic but that also means you need to strap everything down every single time since well everything tends to slide.
