  • A quick demonstration of the dolly I used to use to position my bike at the back of the garage so that the car will fit too. I've actually stopped using this one after reorganising the garage and moving my "car stopper" piece of wood to allow me to park the car closer to the garage door, making a bit more space behind the car.

    Great! I just bought one for my R1150RT and could not manage to muscle it onto the center stand with the dolly placed underneath it. The idea to raise the bike on those tiles is brilliant, will try that myself. Thanks for taking the time to post that

      I found exactly the same. I just couldn't lift the bike on it without that extra height.

    Weel, fiddliness aside, that looked very effective. Can't wait to see the current solution in your next vid.

    Thanks for this. I'm thinking of getting one. It's useful to se one in use.

      It was a good device, though the sidestand dolly was a better machine, if you have the room. I have a video on that one too.

    Aint read other comments but i read elsewhere they were fiddly and frustrating. But the idea is a good one and it works ok for you here,but will wait n see in the next vid

      It definitely works and pretty well too. It's just that the other option is a lot easier.

    Nice Video Buddy, I looked into getting one of these myself then realized that I don't have a center stand, you don't get em on cruisers, however you can get a different type that you use with a side stand but it the length of the bike and is like a troth for the wheels with a bit sticking out for the side stand, My Bike weighs 304kg so not exactly a lightweight to move around, Cheers bud, Ride Safe.

      Indeed you can. In fact, that's what I use since moving the bit of wood to get the car closer to the garage door. You'll see it in my next video. The one I have is rated to over half a metric tonne IIRC.

      Just a word of warning to anyone considering getting a 'side stand version'. I got one but went for a version at the cheaper end of the market ( from a different manufacturer) with a slightly different design detail with the result that the center stand on one of my bikes (Norton 961) wasn't long enough to reach the 'trough'. It worked ok with my Fireblade. So it is worth checking first or going for the more expensive version, there was only about £20 in it. I learned my lesson!!😂😂

    I have an Africa Twin and a shed. It's a job to get it on to the dolly and my constnad don't have any brakes just the leaver to lift up 2 of the wheels, which is useless so I removed it. I will see if I can get the slabs to make it easier. Thanks for the video.

    • @CalmBiker

      It made a massive difference to get that extra bit of height.

    • @lafemmelaMon
      @lafemmelaMon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CalmBiker I got it right now, 1 slab a 2 oak planks. Will make a video of it as it's still a mission as I have to roll it on a narrow path into the shed using a bunji on the handlebars to keep them straight.

    Thank you, always an answer on you tube. I bought one in SA for my F900R this week. I also have a tight garage with 2 cars and 2 bikes. The 900 is also pretty heavy for me at 5'7". Have exhausted myself trying to get it on the dolly and eventually realized that the physics have changed. The garden paving is a great idea. I even though of using the slope, but that could be a little risky. Guess it's off to the hardware store. May I ask how high they are, the dolly must add over an inch to the ground. Thank you again for sharing your experience. Safe rides.

      I don't have the dolly any more (or a bike with a centre stand) but they were abuot an inch to an inch and a half tall. I think the ideal size would be to line up with the base of the stand to keep the geometry the same.

    Sorry to those people I haven't replied to on this video and earlier ones. TH-cam's commenting engine seems completely broken at the moment. I've even been told I'm not allowed to comment on my own videos!

    So I'm currently considering one of these so I can turn the front handle bar to get the bike down the side of my house and through the back gate. I'm just trying to see if I'll save enough width by turning the handlebar inwards to make it worth the purchase.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It definitely worked well for me for that kind of manoeuvring. Not so good now, as I don't have a centre stand :-)

    Hello I need to move moped down a tight corridor. i have to have bike handle bars on full left/right lock to go down corridor. would this product allow me to pass corridor or would kick stand dolly/skate be better or neither?

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I replaced with a side stand dolly that I preferred but this one was really good with the centre stand.

    did you every paint inside the garage?

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did indeed. The floor paint didn't work well, so now I've got carpet tiles (possibly will switch to garage floor tiles in the future). White paint on the walls but barely visible with everything hanging on the walls nowadays
      I have a couple of garage videos to record soon that wil show it but the closest to how it is now is probably this one: th-cam.com/video/P1j4GB4uObU/w-d-xo.html

      Ha ha, you are right. Tried to reply with Google Chrome and I just get an error. This is from Internet Explorer. Funnily enough, I've just recorded a vlog moan about TH-cam comments that I'll be uploading later (if it turned out OK).
