Here's an old video of Dave's I missed/didn't see at the time it was released. I actually had a 5210 that I had bought used online years ago. Gave it to a friend a few years later. Very good sounding amp for solid state. I wish newer budget SS Marshalls sounded as good.

Great playing and tones throughout here, but I _especially_ enjoyed the sweet playing during the clean passages! (And that's saying a lot from me, considering that I'm usually waiting for the gainer tones!) Thanks for the great demo, Dave!

Hi Dave, I have a Marshall 5275 (75 Reverb), one of the big brothers of your 5210, although it's a small combo in size, not in sound. It sounds very similar to your 5210, except the stock speaker is poor (Celestion Sidewinder,150w), so I usually play it through a separate 1*12 cab. These are fabulous amps, destined to be classics in the future if not already. As always, your playing squeezes every drop of tone.

Sidewinders are not poor but good. They are just unknown. They were very solidly built with cast frame and heve very versatile sound. People just do not know them. They were probably too expensive to built for Celestion.

Hey Dave. Love watching your vids. Plus you've converted me to the whole solid state thing! Recently bought a 100w Marshall 3310 that was in a bit of a state. A couple of repairs and a mod - it's now totally awesome! It also makes a surpisingly good bass amp for that authentic Jam/Stranglers bass sound. I'm actually gonna sell some of my valve amps and probably make a profit - haha! My valve stuff was great, but only when it's so loud that the whole house shakes! Just pulled the trigger on a Marshall Master Reverb 30 (5203) for £74 delivered, (it does also need a repair, but hey-ho), which is an absolute steal. Now all I need to do is to learn how to play some Greenie somewhere to near to how well you play it. You're an inspiration - thank you!

I have the 5212. It"s a beast! Physically imposing looking and nasty tone. The cleans are good too. Does not sound like a solid state but it is. The 2x12 makes it sound big and three dimensional.

  • @zekiah9984
    @zekiah9984 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Just picked up a super clean one of these for $300. I have a lot of amps and this thing is definitely a keeper. The AVT50 1x12 50 watt hybrid is a great practice amp but this just has a dirtier sexier tone that I've been looking for in a 1x12 SS amp. A telecaster with a Route 66 pedal compressor/clean boost makes it sing.

Love this amp..bought mine in 86...gigged with it forever and great in the studio...mine quit working a few a years ago...no sound out the speaker but faint sound plugged into the fx loop..took the chassis out and now using the cab with a greenback for my class 5 head...cant find anybody to fix it...it also had the rumbling sound just b4 it went bad,,standard for this amp...but oh how i wish it could be fixed..puts all my newer marshalls to shame

Dave -- I don't know where you are, but you can send it to AVA Audio, (Patrick Ava), 1622 Broadway, Sacramento CA 95818. Pro shop. Pat can fix anything with a PCB, and tube amps. Skip Simmons recommended him to me, and now Pat does all my amp work. Hope this helps.

I have a 5215 and pulled the amp off the combo to use with a 4-12. 100watts brutal power, very much like a jcm800. Basically the same amp as the 3210 i believe, just without the push-pull pot for the eq section. Not very versatile, but nobody expects that from a JCM800 either!

Hi Dave absolute loved both the vids you did on this amp... So I went out and bought one! Can’t get enough of it it’s fantastic! Play through it as much as my jubilee combo too haha! Is there any way you could possibly post a pic that shows the reverb tank in the back as I’m trying to work out if mine has the original reverb tank?? I know you said yours runs all the way along the back of the amp...
Once again thanks! You are the High Priest of AWESOME!!

Thanx for the video, I enjoyed it very much! In fact, it was so inspiring, I searched and bought a 5210 myself. I love the sound of it! Very responsive to volume and tone settings on the guitar.
Mine is a 1982 and has one of those red Mc Kenzie speakers in it. I was wondering if yours has too or if it is the Celestion GM12-70...
Thanks again Dave for the inspiration!

You forgot to mention the compressor that was in the chain. Just saying. I like compressors but you cannot show people the amp's responce with heavy compression involved. But the amp is really very good, compressor or not !! Perhaps, just perhaps, the compression originated from the recording equipment. In that case you are excused, but still... Please do not be offended, I really like your review.
