Laura. Thanks for the memories. These were quite popular in the 60's and carried by Holt. Ren. in so many sizes, shapes and fabrics and very pricey as were most things at Holt's. They were beautiful. Of course, my friend and I had to hack them.
I remember making bags for all the women in my family one Christmas. Lived in Montreal and there was a wealth of fabrics (ends from the many manufacturers which could be purchased around the St. Hubart area for a song. Alas, so many have folded over the years.) The hardware was also easy to source. So glad to see them again.

I love making those little purses. I bought a box of the clasps and a friend of mine gave me some she got at a garage sale. I put them away, I wish I could remember where they are.

Thanks for doing this. I saw a TH-cam a year ago and I tried to make these but I failed. I didn’t know there was a book. I also didn’t know about the pliers to clip it in place. I’ll get the book and try again.

A little extension of the fabric, and they are great to store your glasses in. The clasp will keep them from accidentally slipping out and getting scratched by the keys you might carry around in the same bag.
Thanks for explaining the adjustment so thoroughly.

Again, you make the difficult... easy! Is there anything sewing/arts&crafts you cannot do? I don't mean don't want to do. I mean just aren't able, gave up on, is still in the back of the closet, waiting for you to return??? It was a fun video to watch, and you looked so nice, and with a pleasant, soothing voice.

Thank you for posting this! I've wanted to make these but never watched anyone finish them.
My home ec teacher, way back when, had us trim a scant 1/16th off lining pieces. With the batting here, I'd trim a generous 1/16th, so lining will be just a hair smaller than outer body and will roll nicely to inside and want to lay flat.

I made a kiss clasp frame that was a sew on style. I was afraid to use the glue. It was for my daughter in law’s wedding. I think I will make a sample first using glue for my next wedding purse.
