    Now I'm so glad I saved that french curve even though I had no idea what to use it for! Excellent useful info (drafting skills!) and hints for success - the best of TH-cam.

      Glad it was helpful! The french curve is very helpful when drafting patterns. Curves are crazy and need help to be perfect.

    It’s now 2023 thanks for making this video, a great help. Like your idea to hide the slit, I can’t hand sew neatly at all. Still can’t get the double corners right at the hinge it’s either too tight or with extra ventilation. Still you have helped me beat some problems thank you. ( ref the (rude) comment from Shelly ….. I couldn’t find any video from her at all let alone any that are better / more informative) you say you are relatively new to the video tutorials, that may be so but you have the right ideas but it is very hard to make good content and video and edit all the footage. Keep it up thanks for sharing your knowledge..

    Very pretty. My first attempt was a shambles, that was following a another ladies tutorial. I shall now try following yours.

      @@MrsGsSewingSpace Hi, the second attempt is better, I made a mistake when drawing the shape below the clasp. It is usable, it just looks a little odd . I will keep trying.

    Very good video. Could you explain the "seam start and stop at the same place". Maybe I missed why that is done. Is the bottom seam done first then the top seam? Why?

    • @terriparthum5860
      @terriparthum5860 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is the start and stop because of the pocket flaps?

    • @MrsGsSewingSpace
      @MrsGsSewingSpace  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am sorry that it took me so long to answer your question. Yes, You need to start and stop at the same place when sewing because of the pocket flaps. If you don't there will be a hole right there where the flaps begin. That is also where the hinges of the frame will be so you want to make sure all your seams are closed up.

    Hello. Good afternoon. My name is Tânia i'm portuguese and I do some creative sewing stuff. I was browsing TH-cam and found your video. Very well explained, congratulations. I have some problems creating templates. I make pen cases with these clasps but the 8.5cm squares. I have so many round ones and I would like to know how I could make the mold to use these zippers. if you can help me i would be very grateful. I can show the cases I make to see what I wanted. Thank you so much

    I sure wish you'd included making a pattern for the square frame. I'm having trouble figuring out how to make sure I've got a 'dimple' at the hinge. Do I do it just like the rounded frame by angling the frame on the center pivot point? And how far should it go? I hope you understand what I mean. Thanks!

    • @MrsGsSewingSpace
      @MrsGsSewingSpace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. You can create the pattern just like the rounded frame. I believe I said 1 centimeter. So I would stick with that. But these directions are a guide to help you if you wanted to do something different. If you want more than 1 centimeter then do so. Or less if that floats your boat. But the look will change with your changes so play around.

    Love these what glue do you use

    • @MrsGsSewingSpace
      @MrsGsSewingSpace  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a type of contact glue. I can't remember the name of it currently and I am out of it. But I find it at Home Depot in the USA. I have also used that glue to make costumes for my kids when using foam, PVA foam I think it is.

    Thank you so much for this awesome tutorial!
    I have a question, why do you added only 1 cm from the hinge to outside, can I add more?

    • @MrsGsSewingSpace
      @MrsGsSewingSpace  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I added 1 cm because I didn't want that deep of a hinge. Play around with it. Sometimes adding more looks worse, but it depends on the design.

    Is it not necessary to sew around the hinges?

    • @MrsGsSewingSpace
      @MrsGsSewingSpace  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not when you are putting the sewn bag into the frame. It needs the looseness to allow the bag to open and shut.

    did you use jute string? or what did you sew on to attach inside to the frame? didn't see a link to that. thank you!

    • @MrsGsSewingSpace
      @MrsGsSewingSpace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. It was what was provided with the clasp. It was some sort of jute or hemp type string.

    - This would have been a helpful DIY if you shared the numbers you used to make the pattern. End products look nice.

    • @MrsGsSewingSpace
      @MrsGsSewingSpace  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What numbers? If you are talking about the measurements, they are up to you. How big or long you want your bag to be. On the first bag I gave measurements. The second I showed you how to do but you provide your own length, whatever that might be.

    Me g please tell me do it take practice to learn how to draft Lord I want to learn this so bad I would like to make bags with matching material covered shoes thank you☺️

    • @MrsGsSewingSpace
      @MrsGsSewingSpace  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It does take practice. So draw out your pattern and then use fabric that you don't like to make that first bag. If you are happy with how it turns out then you can use that pattern to create a bag with fabric you like.

    Seriously loose the music! It’s a nightmare and why make the flip slit at the top? Just leave the lining open at the bottom and sew last. Sooo much easier. Plus if you are going to film make sure your hand are on view! Apart from that, brilliant.

    • @MrsGsSewingSpace
      @MrsGsSewingSpace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I am sorry you don't like the music. I am still learning on what makes good videos. I do have the flip slit (I like how you named that) on the top because I don't like sewing the slit closed by hand or machine. I don't want it obvious where I flipped it at.
