What a fantastic upgrade! You guys and Rustolium are a winning team. I hope they sponsored this transformation
Haha they didn’t! But maybe one day they will work with us! 🤞
It looks amazing. This was a very useful post.
Glad to hear, thanks for watching!
Great job...those counters look so great!❤❤
Thanks!
You give me hope for my kitchen. Thank you for the thoroughness of your tutorial. It was very helpful. 😊
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
I honestly wouldn't do a remodel in the kitchen because the counters and cabinets look great!
Fair enough!
Very informative. this showcases the durability and longevity of the paint, proving it's a worthwhile investment for transforming countertops. The step-by-step guidance and long-term results make it a must-watch for DIY enthusiasts looking to refresh their kitchen space.
Glad to hear! Thanks for watching :)
I loved your video! It’s by far my favourite one, and your instructions and tips regarding the foam rollers were such a help. It would be a nightmare to go through all that work, and have “ fuzzies “ left on it from the roller. I’m surprised that the manufacturer hasn’t caught on to this yet!
Keep up the great work, and I would love a video on repainting chipped bathroom sinks. 👍🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for watching - we have never done sinks, but maybe that is something we should try in the future!
WOW you need your own television show. Great video!
We need to do this on our orange bathroom counter from the 70s. I love it!
What a difference! The shine just brought the surface back to life. I'm not sure I could attempt this but I'm inspired. Great job. It looks amazing 👏🏼
Thanks! It definitely made a huge difference brightening them up again!
@@LindiandRuss It's cheaper, it's skill-building and more eco friendly.
Looks great! I also painted my countertops using beyond paint white and montana marble spray paint in silver. It looks so much better than the old worn out laminate I used to have. Way cheaper than new counters!
Agreed!
Thanks for all the work with steps to accomplishing this diy.
You are so welcome!
Thanks so much for sharing what the 4 yr old countertops looked like!
Of course! Glad it was helpful to see!
Oh my gosh! I'm an SLP too!!! Much love for your videos ❤❤❤
So cool!
Omgoodness... You just saved me a ton of money.
Thats great to hear, thanks for watching!
And a ton of work ,🤔👍💪🙏✌️😺
Came out Beautiful guys! 💞 I'm definitely going this route when the time comes for my kitchen. Right now I'm building a pantry in a closet under my stairs. I have no clue what I'm doing, so I hope it comes out alright lol. Thanks for sharing this video, your kitchen is really beautiful 💞
Thanks! Glad the video helped. The counter top paint is a great affordable and quick way to transform your kitchen!
I so enjoyed watching you work together. ☺ You make a great team! The countertops look amazing.
Thanks so much! 😊
That is fantastic! Thank you for the thorough review if both product and process! ☺️
It looks awesome. You save me a ton of money. I was thinking about replacing mine but now I think I’ll just paint them. Thank you.
Glad it helped!
We did this but put a layer of poly on top and it protected it so well
Oh smart idea! How is it standing up over time?
This is a great tutorial, very helpful, and also maybe an example of a reason not to go with solid black. The scratches show up to much. I'm definitely going to be looking for a more mottled color to hide imperfections I think.
Yes! The black definitely shows more imperfections! Glad you found it helpful :)
This looks great! I'm renovating my whole house currently bit by bit, and I've been on and off the fence for what to do about the countertops. $300 and a bit of hard work for a refresh while i save money for what I really want sounds OK to me!
Its a great temporary and affordable fix!
Great tutorial, excellent teaching. Thank you for stopping the music, which was pleasant, when you gave instructions. May attempt this at our camp house in the country. I trust Rest oleum products.
Glad it was helpful!
I'm getting ready to do this and was so happy to find your video!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching :)
I used the spray and all the fumes in my house. I think we will start over and do it the way you did it
This system still has fumes/smell. You def want to do it when you can open up windows and make sure you wear the proper PPE! Thanks for watching 🙂
I just saw this video. Great job guys, well explained. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. 👍😁
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely gorgeous!! Thanks for a clear and precise tutorial! I will definitely be saving this video for future reference. 😁😁👍👍
Oh amazing! I'm glad the video was helpful!
I painted our countertops about 4 yrs ago and they are still holding strong it is a great idea and your counters look great
Its a quick and affordable change :)
Excellent explanation & video of each step. Looks fabulous! I'm hoping this is the way we'll go until we do our kitchen remodel. Thanks!
Honestly, I think it's a great solution while you're saving for a remodel! Ours has worked great!
Thank You, I’m learning to do my own countertops ❤ this helps a lot! Please do a rock fireplace.
You can do it! If all goes well we have a fireplace makeover coming in the future!
The black is beautiful
We were so happy with how it turned out!
Hello Linda and Russ, we're about to embark on our countertop resurfacing.
Not meaning to nit pick believe the term for addressing that debonded spot was
"feathering out".
I/we are going a slightly different procedure.
We found a Rustoleum Clear Coat kit at Home Depot.
So we're going do the usual prep-sanding, applying primer,
but we've chosen a top paint of a colour of our choice.
After which, we'll apply the clear coat....
Glad to hear the video helped - Thanks for watching and good luck on your project! 🙂
@LindiandRuss
Well, we tried our best to follow [all] of the suggested preparations. Pre-sanding, all of the surfaces,, at each application, primer, and two coats of base color (blue/Grey),
As well as prior to the clear top coat.coatsrecommendations, but....
We're really disappointed with the outcome.
There's little dimples scattered over pretty much the entire countertop, despite me using a hair dryer to remove the bubbles.
My wife is definitely in no mood for me to try to fix this, and honestly, I'm spent.
I was really concerned with the dust and vapors, so I'd set up an enclosure,, to isolate the kitchen, with a fan drawing the air out, and all windows were open!
Irregardless, the house reakes!
I think you mentioned in the initial comment you used a different kit/procedure? We just follow the manufactures directions and a complete kit with the exception of the supplied roller (we used a foam roller) and had great results. We have used the kit multiple times and had no issues.
If you used a fan you need to make sure there is no dust in the area as that can contaminate the final surface. The fans can quick up sitting dust that can get into your final coating.
The smell is very strong. We applied the coating and left the house for a bit to let the smell wear off. It goes away quickly though (at least it did for us) for the product we used.
Sorry to hear it didn't work out. Good luck on your reno!
@LindiandRuss
Thank you, Linda, for taking the time to reply, we're going to have to accept it, as is......
I used this same kit on my kitchen countertops 2 years ago. The results were beautiful. However…after a year, I couldn’t handle the minor scuffs and scratches. We replaced with laminate countertops due to budget constraints, but we’re happy.
That’s fair! When ours started showing scratches at the 3 year-ish mark it didn’t take long for me to want them replaced! Laminate can be beautiful too!
@@LindiandRuss.
Thank you i am about to start my kitcken. So your video has given me exactly the information that i needed to know. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh perfect! Good luck!
FREAKING AMAZING ASMR audio!!! thank you for this awesome video, you guys are soo calm and helpful it makes me feel like I CAN DO ANYTHING.
I would love to do an entire ASMR video ones of these days! It’s so much more fun!
@@LindiandRuss I'm a new fan of that genre of videos but DAMN do I love it!!!! I'd love to see that from you guys!! The soothing, meditative effect of DIY
I have been planning to do this. Excellent job and a money saver.
Its a great way to change the look on a budget!
This was a great and informative video. I have been debating on this project for a while. Good job guys!
Glad it was helpful!
I love it! I saved this for when i get my first home incase I need to redo counters. Good job yall
Honestly we’ve been impressed with it. For the cost, I think it’s a great update!
You have a beautiful kitchen!!!
Thank you! 😊
Great job and Great teaching I learned alot.
Glad you enjoyed it!
THANKS FOR DOING THIS VIDEO we can't afford a remodel this is awesome & ill be doing this for sure
thats great - its a great affordable option for a temporary counter top change :)
Getting ready to move into a new house that is woefully stuck in the 90’s. I’ve painted the counters in our last house and it was a huge upgrade from our gross mustard colored 80’s laminate. I’m going to be painting our new counters (charcoal ‘granite’ instead of white this time) and I think this time I’m going to do a clear epoxy pour over the paint
Beautiful once again! I love your kitchen! Great video on the application too.
Thanks!
YOU TWO ARE SOOOOO CUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!!!😍😍
Aww thanks!
You both make it look so easy.i have to do my countertop
Its a great quick change.
Thanks for this video I truly enjoyed watching your transformation!❤
Thank you so much!!
My favorite new channel.
Thank you!! 🖤
A tip to keep your rollers from leaving debris is to roll on the sticky side of some masking tape and that will take any loose hairs off.
Thats smart - will definitely have to try that next time! Thanks for watching :)
Gee whiz , you have a nice kitchen, nice layout 😊, oh and good job on the counter tops 😀
Thanks so much! 😊
Looks great. Bet a matte epoxy would look good too
Agreed! 😊
This is great. I just bought a condo with a small kitchen and 1 1/2 baths. One kit should be more than enough.
Love the video, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow! I love it!! Looks so beautiful!! Tfs 😀♥️
Thank you!! 🖤
Job well done.
Thank you 😊
That’s a cool dude,
Good job to both of you!
Thank you! We’ve been really impressed!
We gutted our old kitchen and redid the whole thing and it was 30k! That was over 6 years ago too!
Considering, the painted countertops held up well. If I had old lament counter tops and couldn't afford new, I would do the same thing. If you can remove the sink and stovetop even better. Very Nice. I hear black is coming back vs the white on white.
Its a great solution to change the look of counter tops on a budget. But it will start to show its age of time. I agree, the first time we did it we removed the sink and stove top to get the coatings on the entire surface.
@@LindiandRuss I had granite countertops (grey, black, peach) installed back in 2005? and I still love them . Of course now I hear -- quartz is better and to change it. "NO". We can't let society dictate how our homes should look like. We are all on some kind of budget. Work with what you have, love your hard work, then sit back enjoy it. BTW, I love those white cabinets too.
Wow great new look!
Thanks!
So beautiful. I'm jealous.
Thank you!
I love this! I've seen other videos, but this is the only one that I like lol. Will it work if I want to go lighter on my countertop? Black speckled to white?
Probably sand and use a counter top primer first
Yep it’ll work! They have a lot exactly like ours, but in white that would cover nicely
@@britegrl03 thank you!
@@LindiandRuss Awesome, thank you!!
Amazing and I’m want that floor too!!
Good job guys!!! I will be doing this❤
Awesome!
Looks great!!
Thanks!
Loved it it looked like an onix counter top
Looks great…thanks for the inspiration!!!
You are so welcome!
As an electrician some of those screws on cover plates gave me goosebumps 😨
It looked before you put the epoxy, I would sand the epoxy to make it a matte finish.
yep, can modify for what finish you want
We're doing the onyx color one. I'm excited to see how it holds.
Good luck! Ours worked really well! Just follow all of the directions, mix well, and leave it alone after it's applied - don't try to do touch ups!
Looks great!
Thanks!
Could you please send me the link to the kit for the black counters? The one in your description is for a white marbleing kit. I love how yours turned out and want to make sure I get the same black ones. Thank you!
Looks like the one kit is discontinued, the "Rust-Oleum HOME® Countertop Coating Deep Tint Base Kit" may be similar but haven't used personally.
Very good tutorial.
Thank you!! I’m hoping anyone who would want to do this could watch the video and know exactly what to do!
@@LindiandRuss We're thinking of upgrading our daughters kitchen. She's only going to be staying for a few more years, so spending lots of money seems senseless because more than likely a new owner would put their own stamp on the house. This is a perfect solution to make it look really nice and spend under $500.
Beautiful work! Now, y’all come and paint my countertops please?! 😂
Thanks, your should try thought, its really not that hard! Thanks for watching
Hello! Would you mind clarifying the name of the sealant you used? I have the paint but not with the kit and I haven’t found the final step materials you showed. Thank you
All the paint/epoxy/sealant came in the kit we bought.
Excellent!
Thank you! Cheers!
You two are adorable.
Aww Thanks! 🥰
I did that to my countertops and if I could take a picture of it and show it to you I hate it it was sticky and it looks awful I’m going to try to use appliance epoxy paint to paint over them
If it was sticky and/or uneven, one of the instructions was not followed correctly, or the epoxy was not mixed thoroughly enough.
beautiful
Thank you! 😊
Did y’all used a top coat or did the paint have a gloss to it? It’s beautiful
The paint kit has a top coat with a gloss already 🖤
Hi, I like the color you have chosen, which one it is?
Heads up. Black counter tops ALWAYS look filthy.
We were really happy with them 😀
Hello, the countertops look great. Y'all did a fantastic job. So I searched the links for the products you two used & the epoxy link was not functioning correctly. What epoxy do you recommend for the repairs for this kit?
looks like they changed the product since we did our counter tops. I added their new tintable counter top coating at the top of the product list int he description :) I haven't used but would assume is similar?
Are there different colors that you can choose from?
Yep they have a couple different colours to choose from (at least they did when we did it) 😃
Can this be used on white porcelain countertop tiles in a bathroom?
Yep, just have to do the proper prep work!
Do you have to remove the sink? Thanks!!
you don't have to remove the sink, you can paint up to it, i would just mask the edges/cover sink to prevent any spills/paint marks
How did you do the plastic that went over cabinets?
Wow
Thanks!
Why did you use epoxy over polyurethane?
Wow!
Thanks!
What type of counter did you start with
a laminate top, thanks for watching 😁
Do you have to sand vinyl countertops too?
Yes, I think you want it to adhere well so you need to sand first to create a profile for it to adhere to.
Yes, I think you want it to adhere well so you need to sand first to create a profile for it to adhere to.
Have you ever thought about using Stone Coat countertops. It may last longer
May have to look into that in the future - always like to try new products!
@@LindiandRuss yes they a have beautiful work of ideas for countertops, showers and floors. I like coming on here to watch them.
weldone guys
Thanks!
Do you think I should tackle this with textured laminate kitchen counters??
Textured surfaces might be hard to get it evened out and have uniform thickness of epoxy. Depends on how high the textured parts stick up?
I liked the full look better. Is it ok to do that ??
I’m not sure what you mean by “the full look”? 🤔
Are these heat resistant?
I would check the manufactures specs/label to confirm but if I recall the paint/coating had a similar heat resistance as the existing laminate counter top. I wouldn't recommend placing a hot pot/cooking sheet directly on top of the counter top without heat trivet on the counter first. Again I would look at the product's label to confirm its actual heat resistance :)
I'm here looking for kitchen work top makeovers. I bought hamerite rust to metal paint by accident. Does anyone know if that would work too? Has anyone else used it? Thank you. Waiting for work to finish to watch the whole video.
You should check what surfaces it bonds to - if its a rust paint is it intended for metal? Ultimately you want to follow the instruction and what application it is good for, as how it bonds to the surface will decide how it performs.
Love it i
Thanks 😊
Great news
Agreed!
Yes great job out their
How would this stuff work in an RV?
It would work great! You can definitely use it in an RV! We’re re-doing our RV on the channel right now!
How do I buy just the sealer? What is the name on the can ?
Not sure, no longer have can and just bought it as a kit.
When you consider the time to do this it's cheaper to go to a counter top store and custom order to fit then install yourself.
That is absolutely not true 😂😂 I can only assume you’ve never paid for or quoted countertops if you believe that 🤣
