How come you used this instead of the actual "tub and tile" spray? I wonder if the tub and tile would be better since it is made for areas with water exposure
Hello I recently did this and at first it turned out great. Well apparently I didn’t wait long enough to take off the tape and drop clothes and she i did some particles fell from the cloth. I tried getting them off and it left marks on it. Can I resand it and redo it? I’m so sad this happened.
I am currently renting, but, he doesn't want to rip the 1960(or 50) tile off. I am looking for ideas to hide the hideous pink 4" tiles. Yech. May see if this is a possibility. Thanks.
A little tip for using any spray can. Take a long wire tie and wrap it around the can. Look at the instructions on the can. If it says keep a twelve to fourteen inch distance from the surface, then trim the wire tie to twelve inches. One of the Biggest mistakes, with using spray cans, is getting too close to the surface.
SIMPLYME100 It’s not Wire, but a Nylon Wire Tie. It helps you Judge the Distance you should be from the Painted Surface. It does make a big difference in the finish. Someone who did Auto Body work, showed me this and did a comparison on my pained surface verses his.
Rustoleum - the best invention for making old or ugly things - metal, glass, plastic, or anything at all - new again for pennies! Your counter looks great!
Worked great for me! I recommend sanding the heck out of your countertops. I literally removed any part that shined lol. I also used 1 full can for the base, and another full can for the second coat, letting it dry about 30 minutes in between. Thanks for the video! I absolutely love my new countertop!
Valerie Aguiar I did my first vanity a little over a month ago. I have recently done my other two bathroom vanities. It looks great, and has held with no issues.
Should've wiped it off with cheesecloth and acetone to wipe the counter down as a final wipe, after you do a first basic clean. Acetone will remove the oils and build up and cheesecloth will not leave lint and the acetone won't dry on the cheesecloth as fast as a microfiber or other towel. That's my 2 cents of advice.
Actually a professional always starts the prep with a good industrial cleaner designed to clean the grease and oils found in most bathrooms. A good silicone free tack cloth is used right before the first coat is applied.
I tried it and it worked exactly like the video. Friendly reminder to wear a mask because the fumes are strong and cover ANYTHING nearby that you don't want painted. I'm doing my old kitchen counter tops next. Thank you for the video!
Hi. When I spray paint outside and forget to close the door the spray comes back and covers my floor, so how did you prevent that when spraying indoors? I want to do my bathroom also. Thanks in advance. 🙂
Great idea for me as I found bunch of contact paper in a cabinet when I was cleaning and organizing. Few different patterns left over from old projects. Good way get rid of it!
get some olive oil and spray the mirror, before spraying, that helps with the spray on mirror, the spray won't stick to the mirror with a little oil on the mirror

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH 4 SHARING...U R SOOOO RIGHT! Thank you! I followed your video, and while our Lowes didnt offer Rustolium, they had the Krylon Appliance Epoxy. We went from a brown/cream marble to clean white. You were right about the vapor. Thanks fir doing this , I had been looking at the liquid epoxy looked SO messy!! This looks SO MUCH easier!! Thanks for the inspiration, this will help to get RR done and not always say “ I’ll do that when I get this done!” always delays NO MORE!! I’m excited
Hello everyone who is thinking of trying this! I did today, and probably the most important thing I learned is that you NEED to cover your entire body, eyes, and hair if you don't want epoxy in those places. Long sleeves, pants, shoes, gloves, mask and ANYTHING to keep your eyes protected. Idk how she didn't get epoxy in her eyes; the spray-back was horrific. My husband and I used this spray on our guest bathroom counter, with proper ventilation, and the entire house was full of fumes for hours. Everything upstairs that wasn't completely closed off was covered in a thin layer of the epoxy, as well as the entire bathroom. If you don't want a disgustingly sticky residue everywhere, cover it. We covered our bathroom WAYYYYY more than this and everything else is still gross. Rust-Oleum has a paintable version of this product and I highly recommend using that instead. Props to her for making this somehow work, but I have no idea how this product is considered safe. The can doesn't even tell you to wear protective gear.
I read ur comment before starting my project but when it came down to do it today I forgot about this and did it with out gloves.. my whole house smells!! I did cover my mouth and had ventilation but still not cool!
@@EchoRe Thank you so much for this! I had to take a shower after and worked! As for the floor in my hallway it feels sticky (since I had the door open bc of the fumes) it spread out :/ you gotta be careful with this product it goes everywhere indeed! But the final result is beautiful! We are all impressed!
@@bluewhale2600 if your floor is carpet I recommend a light spray of goo gone to soak followed by a carpet cleaner! If it's a hard floor just goo gone and paper towels or a sponge will work!
Naphtha, Xylenes, Acetone are part of this product thus ventilating by opening any windows is an obvious suggestion. I also suggest using Rust-Oleum Companion Aerosol, Comfort Grip which allows a person much easier method of spraying and is reusable on "rattle cans". Using long and lighter even strokes that allows a far more even coating than short ones that cause the paint pooling and drips. I'd rather use more masking sheets and a couple of rolls of wide painters tape than the time it takes to clean up.
I'm assuming you're referring to the device that fits around the top of the can & you basically hold it like you would a squirt gun. I've done MANY spray paint jobs & I ALWAYS use that attachment! Makes for a really smooth job.
OMG!! I seriously wish I would have found this video BEFORE going to Lowe's and buying a brand new vanity and countertop!! Fantastic idea! Doing this in our half bath however!!
This is a cheap fix. Check out leggari & cold stone countertops TH-cam channels too. Higher end epoxy projects and results. But this is pretty awesome cheap solution
Thank you so much. I needed this video. I ordered the spray and my counter and sink turned out beautiful. Mine was an old outdated 70s 80s mustard yellow faux marble eyesore. Im especially thankful for your updated video.
Thank you so much for sharing! I've been wanting to epoxy my bathroom sink countertops but it looked like so much work. I'm so glad I stumbled across your video! This looks so good and so convenient. I will have to try this now!
I have the same faucet, if you put something like a pin in the Delta medallion you can pop it out, then unscrew the plastic knob and give it a deep clean. Made such a difference
Thanks for making this. For me, I would probably tape up a lot more drop cloths as this paint is really nasty to remove once it sets. Makes me wonder how automotive clear coat would do on top? You just have to apply clear coat BEFORE the coat underneath it dries. Fun!
I. Am. Speechless. TH-cam somehow knows what I need before I do! I have a similar counter top, but with double sinks. I thought I was stuck with them, unless I replaced them. Not so! Going to do this project before I have to return to work in a couple of weeks. Thanks so much for the tutorial and I also appreciate everyone’s helpful comments! 👍
Thank you for this video!! You reminded me I already had a can of this spray, AND I desperately needed to do this after staining and hair dying my countertop 😅 I didn’t do a flawless job and the results still turned out great!
I also used Krylon due to what Lowe's sold. Iam very pleased. I will say 100 grit sandpaper left some lines... went over with 220 as a final detail. Used a blow dryer to clean all the dust from sanding. Used 2 coats white and 2 coats a few days later of the glaze clear coat... also a spray. Turned out great!
Well, after 796 comments on your DIY, I give you a 100 + grade for the video. I moved into my apartment apparently from a smoker that left many burn marks on the counter. This was a welcome video since the landlord would not replace the counter. Can't thank you enough for posting.
Used this on my vanity over a year ago, has held up well except for the actual sink. Sink has has spots peel off, but overall it isn’t in bad condition
I think that people make a mistake by doing short, frenetic, back and forth spurts when they spray. It is too easy to get overly concentrated paint in one area with that technique. I find that taking a slightly slower and longer sweeping motion from a further distance gets a more even coating. Just a slower paced motion, and just one time back and forth should do it. I also find that I have fewer or no paint drips with that technique.
Looks great! I would recommend protective goggles or eye gear though. If it's in the air enough to bother your lungs/throat it probably gets on the surface of your eyes.
So glad I came across this, I'm in the process of redoing our guest bathroom and didn't have a clue what I was going to do with the countertop, it's just like yours before..liked and subscribed!! Much love from Atlanta, GA ♥️
I sprayed my old chipped up and well worn metal bathtub with the same paint didn't do much prep light sanding and go,it's been about two years now and it's just starting to peel and pop in a couple places
I had my tub and bathroom tile walls professionally epoxy sprayed about 5 years ago. There are a couple little chips now and I think I will try this out to fix those areas. Even if it buys me one more year, I'll be happy.
Hola Valery...I hope y’all are doing well... and your video it was very helpful to that the product really works...unfortunately I suffered a bad stroke and I’m getting all the information possible so when I get fully recovered I will be able to help others when needed...thank you again!!!😃
I agree with all information. Also I wanted to say that if at all possible, it is great if you can take the countertop off and/or make sure your lighting is good. I was going to do this inside, but as with all things we are finding out about this money pit house, everything was done cheaply so when we went to move out the vanity the countertop just lifted off anyway. I took it outside to the driveway to sand it generously, and I could really see imperfections and dings so much better. The lighting in the bathroom was so dim I would never have seen them until I already sprayed it. Also given all the comments about ventilation I'm glad to be doing it outside anyhow. Since I am painting the vanity at the same time, it gives you a break in terms of not having to tape the sink off to do the vanity painting and vice versa.
Thank you, this gives me hope for my bathroom vanity! Even long long before this covid19 shut me down financial I still would not have been able to afford replacing it. This will be just one thing to brighten my home. Video greatly appreciated.
I can't afford new either!! Disabled sucks & it's not wrong to still want where we spend most all of our time to still look nice!! I'm in my mobile home 15yrs & has taken me that long to make it what I love.. & updates from a 70's flashback. This idea is what I've been looking for a long time to get off my list!!! Thank you!!!!
I'm wondering the same. I have laminate (older style that curls at the edge a bit) and wondering if this will be ok, in the kitchen ? Or not durable enough
I was coughing just watching how much those fumes were building up. I'd recommend a ventilator mask to anyone using spray paint indoors. That stuff is caustic and toxic to the lungs and brain. Your bathroom counter turned out nice! I wonder if they make a stainless steel version 🤔
Jeana Marie I have painted my kitchen counters with the brush on rustoleum aluminum color. They look like stainless steel. I recommend using a clear coat on top.

Hi Valerie, Did you need to use a sealant after the Rustoleum product had completely cured? How has the countertop and especially the sink held up over the past couple of years?
So I just followed your lead. My counter was yellow dingy. First coat looks great, does need another. Please wear mask if you are going to do this! Strong and I had to leave room couple times even though I had covering and window open. Looks amazing!
Thank you so much for this video!!!!!! WOW! I have never even considered a spray on epoxy. I didn't know it existed! Fab makeover. Great job!!! Can't beat $7!
You're an inspiration. I have a 3m6200 outfitted with organic vapor cartridges. It looks great I want to do this to my bathtub but my stores don't have it in stock.
@Valerie Aguiar Few questions: 1) How did you get the epoxy paint off mirror that was over spray above Frogtape? 2) What color did you use on bathroom counter? 3) Does epoxy appliance spray come in multiple colors & where can it be purchased? 4) What do you use to clean it? 5) How has it held up after a year of use? Thank you so much for your response and help. It looks fantastic!
Did you sand inside the sink basin as well? I couldn't tell from the video. My sink basin is worn out and I am considering the same idea. Yours came out great!

HUGE DIFFERENCE! And I love it 😍😍😍 I’m def. going to try this on our bathroom counters in the new home while we save up for the fancy stuff!
OMG !! This was a GOD move lol Thank you
I love when that happens! Best wishes to you! Thanks for watching 😊
Gorgeous I love it. Thank you for sharing, $7.00 I can live with it 🤗🤗🤗
Right?! We still love it!
Well I did it. Came out amazingly beautiful. Thank you so much for the inspiration and know-how.
Christine... that's so awesome to hear! I'm glad I was able to be a little bit of inspiration for you! 😀
So glad I came across this, I'm in the process of redoing our guest bathroom and didn't have a clue what I was going to do with the countertop, it's just like yours before..liked and subscribed!!
Much love from Atlanta, GA ♥️
It will come out great! Thanks for watching, Tammie!
Very nice . Looks good . Easy diy fix . Rustoleoum seems to be awesome for diy .
It is! :)
Nice DIY! Do u plan on changing the faucet out? That would take it to a whole other level.
Yes! I haven’t got around to it yet but it’s on my “to do” list eventually!
Wow...What a game changer. Where have been all my life.. I definitely needed to see this..Gonna get on this project this weekend...🥰🥰😊
You got this!! 💕
I sprayed my old chipped up and well worn metal bathtub with the same paint didn't do much prep light sanding and go,it's been about two years now and it's just starting to peel and pop in a couple places
Oh wow! That’s good to know! Best wishes!
I had my tub and bathroom tile walls professionally epoxy sprayed about 5 years ago. There are a couple little chips now and I think I will try this out to fix those areas. Even if it buys me one more year, I'll be happy.
I was wondering I hate my tub!
Hola Valery...I hope y’all are doing well... and your video it was very helpful to that the product really works...unfortunately I suffered a bad stroke and I’m getting all the information possible so when I get fully recovered I will be able to help others when needed...thank you again!!!😃
Next project: Anti-ghost door knob with lock for bathroom door. :)
@@LindaBolt-vy9rx you guys notice everything LOL!
What was that???
😊😺
In with @abby... what is that??‽
I kept seeing the door swing in too
I agree with all information.
Not sure how I got to your channel but glad I did. Binge watched ALL of your vids...nice content...::you have earned yourself a new subbie. TFS💕
Thanks Crissi!
Wow! Thank you for sharing this great idea!
Glad you liked it! 💕
Thank you, this gives me hope for my bathroom vanity! Even long long before this covid19 shut me down financial I still would not have been able to afford replacing it. This will be just one thing to brighten my home. Video greatly appreciated.
Happy I can help! I can totally relate, things will look up, it won’t be this way for long. Take care!
Fantastic cheap makeover the looks so fresh. Loved it.
Looks good, thanks for sharing this idea 👍🏻
Nice job. Thanks for demo. Strong woman.
What is your counter made of? My counter is laminate so just trying to figure out if it will work for me. I want my counters to look just like yours!
I'm wondering the same. I have laminate (older style that curls at the edge a bit) and wondering if this will be ok, in the kitchen ? Or not durable enough
Wondering this too! Let me know
It will work...just make sure to rough the surface with P120 grit to give the epoxy something to hold on to
Also wondering
Can I use the liquid appliance paint if I don't want to do the spray? I have a very small bathroom, no window so ventilation is extremely poor.
You can buy the same product in quart can and roll it out with a short foam roller and brush the bowl. I'm interested to know how it holds up.
Great to know! Thank you!
Wow, never knew this existed. EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!!!!! THANK GOD, & you of course. Its now $5 on AMAZON. AMAZING! Great, great investment♥️
Your so very welcome! Thank you for watching! Take Care :)
Lol i was covering up my mouth and nose with my cover for no reason watching this 😆
@@zizibe218 lol..me too an coughing. I need to videos on how to use spray paint idoors safely
smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Y2S71T1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Organic respirator with sealing goggles. The fumes can burn your eyes too.
I've used Rustoleum Countertop. Good stuff.
Hi Valerie,
Did you need to use a sealant after the Rustoleum product had completely cured? How has the countertop and especially the sink held up over the past couple of years?
She has a 5 month update video.
So I just followed your lead. My counter was yellow dingy. First coat looks great, does need another. Please wear mask if you are going to do this! Strong and I had to leave room couple times even though I had covering and window open. Looks amazing!
Glad it is working out great for you! It really changes the look of the counters! :)
I did not know that there was epoxy in spray can.
Would really like a update of this project.
How did the paint hold? I have the same countertops with sink, and want to paint over them.
The fact that you had to tackle kicking the door close through out ,had me cracking up 😂.
Dam ghosts wanna use the looo.
Yay!!! Thank you!!! You gave me a hope and I will do it in my bathroom tomorrow!
I’m so excited for you! Sending my best wishes!!
Anyone know how well this might work on laminate countertops?
Thank you so much for this video!!!!!! WOW! I have never even considered a spray on epoxy. I didn't know it existed! Fab makeover. Great job!!! Can't beat $7!
Hello! Just seeing this. It's been a year, how does the counter top look now?
You're an inspiration. I have a 3m6200 outfitted with organic vapor cartridges. It looks great I want to do this to my bathtub but my stores don't have it in stock.
Thank you!
Hey you did a amazing job looking forward to looking at more of your tutorials so did the paint hold up inside the sink when y'all used it
@Valerie Aguiar
Few questions:
1) How did you get the epoxy paint off mirror that was over spray above Frogtape?
2) What color did you use on bathroom counter?
3) Does epoxy appliance spray come in multiple colors & where can it be purchased?
4) What do you use to clean it?
5) How has it held up after a year of use?
Thank you so much for your response and help. It looks fantastic!
Great video! Looks great! I also love the color of your cabinets. I assume you painted those as well and if so what color?
I used this on my bath tub....came out GREAT....
Linda... that's awesome! I bet it looks fantastic :)
I'm ordering the paint today. Curious how it is holding up & if anyone tried this on a kitchen sink or bathtub.
Holding up great for us, we did this late November/early December!
I think Rustoleum has a different product available that is specifically for bathtubs.
You want Rustoleum Tub & Tile.
You can paint tile 👀
Janet J. You sure can!
Excellent Job
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Hello! I am so there for this project!
Cover the mirror if you do because the fumes sticks to the mirror
Me too! That's why i came!!
Wow ! What a transformation ! It looks beautiful !
Did you sand inside the sink basin as well? I couldn't tell from the video. My sink basin is worn out and I am considering the same idea. Yours came out great!
Thank you! Yes! Just a light sand! It’s a great fix for an outdated countertop! 👍🏻👍🏻
