  • In this video, I ran some tests on the Rustoleum countertop coating to test the durability. I used this coating on one of our rental properties and decided to try some not so very scientific tests to see how it holds up to different types of damage.

    I have "green" linoleum counter tops (ugg), looking for an inexpensive way to update. After watching your "honest" tests and weighing the cost of replacing counter tops I think I'll go with replacement. By the time I get the product, safety gear, application gear and the inconvenience of have the odor lingering for a few days it's not worth the savings for us. I really do appreciate your first video on your rental then this video on durability test. You answered questions I didn't even know I should've asked. Thank you for sharing.

      Im Glad, it helped! It wasn't the most scientific of tests but I had my questions too and since I haven't seen the rental unit in a few months I wanted to try something until I can get back and take a look at the kitchen in the video. I think for us it was a good fit because we had a small budget and a timeline to get it done but Its more of a temporary thing I would have changed them too if it was possible.

    Hi, Bryan. First, thanks for your videos! I have watched your original video several times in an effort to work up the courage to use this product on my old 50s-era gold-flecked laminate countertops. I'm glad I found and watched this one, but even after seeing the results, I'm still thinking about the coating. Do you think the results would be different if you used a sealant -- or would a sealant run the risk of yellowing the paint? (I want to go for white paint, too.) Final thought: You handle that knife like a PRO!

    • @BryanBuilt

    Does the rust oleum counter paint not have a “full” cure time longer than three days? Like with paint, it is technically dry after so many hours but usually says on each can to allow anywhere from a week to 14 days for a “full cure” before exposing it to any harsh elements. I’ve never used it so I wasn’t sure if it’s the same or not. Thanks! 😊

  • @sonyahanson4819
    @sonyahanson4819 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I painted my countertop two years ago and it’s still in good condition but I put a primer and a sealant on it And trust me my husband is rough on the counter but you also need to let it cure for about 14 days before you put anything heavy on it you can do light work on it. And the reason we did this because it was more affordable than getting a new countertop.

    I sold laminate, solid surface countertops. All the things you tested the epoxy painted countertops with is forbidden by every laminate manufacturer if you used your unpainted laminate countertops that way you would void any warranty. You're not supposed to put hot pans on any type countertop without a trivet. I advice property managers to put it in rental or lease agreements. So I bet the paint would hold up if you used it normally.
