Well done! You and your friend are the most articulate mechanics that I have ever heard. For the first time, I really understand how to bleed air from a hydraulic clutch system. I do not wish misfortune on anyone, but if you find that you must replace the slave cylinder, I will be most interested in hearing your descriptions. Got any videos on valve adjustments?

Great video guys. I have a 2005 Renault Laguna. The clutch doesn't disengage (since 3 days ago).It started the symptoms slowly at first and then the following day the control gave up entirely. Almost certainly a hydraulic fail. Just started to investigate the problem with a view to repairing it and saving a bucketful of garage bills. My first concern is that the master cylinder attached to the pedal looks very awkward to get at and remove/replace if necessary. I will have a more serious attempt on it during the next few days, provided the West of Scotland winter weather does'nt prevent me. Have any of you guys done a similar repair on a Laguna, and is it feasible for someone like me with a fairly good history of car repairs ? (Recently overhauled my braking system)

my clutch pedal is hard to push. the pressure plate and clutch disk are already replaced still it becomes hard to push as the engine heats up.. the master cylinder is not leaking, the slave cylinder might be the problem because it leaks a little bit of fluid. does it make sense?
I need help with a 1999 SVT Cobra. the clutch pedal is pretty hard. I think it’s the new Clutch Kit that it got, but idk tbh. It’s kinda hard. Works perfectly fine. Can i loosen it up a bit or something?
OpFrosted Flakes Stiff pedal is better than squishy pedal. May take a little while to break in the new clutch.
I have a 1985 Chevy S10. Replaced slave cylinder, master cylinder and rubber hose. Bled system. No bubbles. Would shift ok at first then stop. Clutch pressure gone. Bled a couple more times. Same thing keeps happening. What do you think is wrong?

My clutch pedal went extremely hard. It happened once or twice then was fine, then the next day went hard and I couldn't change gear. I have checked the hydraulic system and the fork is moving fine. The fork sounds squeaky (I don't know if thats normal) The master and slave cylinder seem fine.... Any ideas??
Just had new cluch kit put in my 94 chevy silverado 5.7 liter 350 5 speed 2 years ago and I think I have a throw out bearning issue when clutch is is ingadge no rattling when letting clutch out ingear get a rattling sound and in nutral also ?? Is this a throw out bearing or a piolet bearing ?? And what would happen if ether one of these go out completely while driving??? And how much shop cost to have fixed??
Just bought a honda civic type s 1.8 2007. Clutch seems to be very stiff!!! Would bleeding it and changing clutch fluid solve the problem? How much would mechanic charge for this?

I have a 2015 Ford Fiesta diesel manual, six speed after an hour of driving the car every night when pulling away in first gear and reverse the car starts to shudder I’m thinking must be something to do with heat in the clutch. Any ideas what this could be please thank you
I'm working on my 96 Nissan maxima with the 3.0l v6 and as of now I replaced the clutch, master cylinder, and slave cylinder and the entire upper half of my clutch petal is dead and it grabs at the very bottom of the petal with no play whatsoever and I cant figure it out. I've blead all the lines, did an entire fluid flush, made sure all the air was out of the lines, and I still have half a dead petal. everyone I ask for help with it is at a loss and no one can figure it out. 06 ford fusion leaking brake fluid out of the starter.. master cylinder is right below the starter you press the clutch peddle fluid comes out..of starter... what could it be ????

At almost 30k and my wrx clutch pedal is losing feel any tips? It just feels not as firm as usual. Especially after a few pulls. Update checked the fluid and its still full. It shares fluid with the brakes via a hose out of the bottom
got a 95 ford ranger 4 cylinder have changed slave and master cylinder and hydrolic line. when I push pedal down it goes half way then turns hard. what is the problem. I have dropped my tranny 5 times now. had a new retainer clip still slave cylinder and my old line was just popping out the side of transmission. I have a new line and new slave cylinder correct style and still not working. help
Yep, My 87 Jeep has a separate reservoir, while My 2004 SATURN has a shared clutch/brake reservoir... Jeep is in the 3rd clutch. (hose burned a hole thru killed the 2nd clutch)
SATURN lasted 255000 miles on the 1st clutch ❤️👍 currently at 357000+ miles on the 2nd clutch. Today, Jeep clutch went to the floor while engine was hot... Then pump pump and the clutch woke up. That's what brought Me to this video.

please help, I live in japan and have a 97 honda integra type r. When the car is off i can push the clutch in and put it into any gear. however as soon as i turn the car on it refuses to go into any gear. I will start it from first gear and from there i can shift, however when i am coming to a stop i will throw it in neutral and break, after that it will refuse to go into gear, i bleed the clutch cylinders and added more because it was dark brown, which could it be, clutch or master/slave?
i bled my cars clutch hydraulic system. master and slave cylinder is good before i bled it. the pedal is not returning, it seems it is not building pressure. I bled is so many times but still every time I press the pedal it stuck on the floor. what could be the problem here
Just replaced master and slave cylinder as well as ran new line between the 2 and I've bled and pumped and bled and pumped and I'm building no pressure whatsoever. Any tips?
My Hyundai produces a rhythmic bumping like sound when driving over 95 km/h. It gets louder when driving faster and at 130 it is worrying. Listening very carefully I hear it too very softly at a lower speed, 90. But at still lower speed I cant hear it, maybe gone? The garage diagnoses a clutch problem as the sound disappears when pushing the clutch. It is a costly repair, but is it the most probable cause of he sound? Speed, accelleration, clutching and fuel cunsumption are normal
I have a 2011 Honda Civic. I tried rocking it out of ice by engaging and disengaging clutch. Unsuccessful. Now, I can't engage with the clutch at all. In any gear, I let the clutch out and the engine just revs. And, I left the car overnight on a slight hill, in first gear (no brake on) and, after the ice melted, it coasted backwards until it hit somebody's garbage bags. Could have been so much worse. What do you think the problem is? Clutch, a linkage, transmission, etc?

My 99 Saturn SC2 1.9L 5 speed, clutch all the way out for 1st gear and have to rev rpm just for it to engage. Need new clutch, plate, bearing, or can I just try bleeding the line? Please help.
Don't know if anyone has posted this before I NEED HELP SOLVING A CLUTCH ISSUE: My clutch makes a ticking noise, no problems shifting or from pedal or when giving gas (the noise goes away) just noise from clutch, i can hear it through the firewall and it sounds like its ticking when i let off the gas, bottomed out a few months ago and the noise began then, ever since it has this ticking noise. Could it be the pressure plate?
Random FYI: I've owned that 1987 since new & it's got THE SAME POWER STEERING FLUID as 1987 with no issues. 👍😜
I am no mechanic by any means but...why bother bleeding the clutch fluid system when you have shown the clutch cylinder is leek in? ??
But dont forget the fluid has to get through the lines/hoses! If there old they could get narrowed, RIGHT!!

I had a Nissan hardbody that did that to me while I was driving. What happened when I took it apart, I found that the clutch had shattered and clogged up everything.
I believe my 2004 VW GTI clutch cylinder is located inside the housing for the clutch and flywheel. The system seems to operate well, even thought it's 16 years old. However, I do plan on replacing the clutch and flywheel as preventative maintenance. Considering the location of the clutch cylinder and the difficult in reaching it, do you advise replacing it at the same time the clutch and flywheel are replaced? Additionally, how is this internally housed cylinder bled? Thanks for making this video.
Idk if this was covered but could use the advise. 88 honda prelude 2.0. Clutch doesnt grab until almost all the way out, last 3 inches or so. And when Im driving and give it "more then normal" throttle the clutch slips. Bad clutch or air in the lines?
I have no pressure and resavoir is overflowing. No leaks anywhere else.
I don't see why it HAS to be a two-man job..The way I usually bleed brakes is to pump, then hold the brake pedal down with something (a log) between the seat and the pedal, crack the bleeder, and repeat. It does take more time but always works fine. To get a bit of 'spring' I put a large book between the log and the seat, so that the surface area and 'springiness' of the seat cushion keeps pressure applied. Obviously you need to be more careful of the amount of air/fluid you let out each time since you don't have anyone telling you that the pedal has hit the floor! With the clutch I'd assume the one-man way would be easier again since you can just pin the pedal to the floor..

I want to know possible reasons behind this sudden failure , as previously no slowdown symptom was persist in my car .

Need HELP!!! I have had my 92 Honda Civic clutch replaced because the car would not go into gear. We thought the problem was resolved till we drove it about two blocks from home and the car would not go into gear again. The mechanic showed me the clutch for and said it appeared worn last time the clutched was replaced it wasn't lubed correctly. So we had him replace the clutch fork. Thought all was good till we drove it around the block same issue. Clutch fork popped off and the clutch can be pushed but the car wont go into gear. Someone advised we needed new trany and so we spent money on new transmission. Drove the car a mile and then on the way home, same issue clutch for came off again and the car wont go into gear. Any advise would be welcome. I've invested so much on this issue and both the mechanic and I are at a loss of how to resolve this issue. Please HELP!!! Do I part out the new clutch, fork, and transmission or it is just something small we are missing. Thanks :) Sally

I have a 07 Wrangler Rubicon that the clutch paddle is soft now, can't shift. But my brake fluid reservoir is not low...Do you think its still the slave cylinder having a leak?
Great video! You guys should do more, the way its explained to us is perfect. My pedal is to the floor & i have a leak that collects and drips from oil pan. 2007 vw eos so a slave cylinder leak would be devastating. Going down to identify the leak, Stay up playas!!!!

Hi bro tks four your video,I have a Fiat Stilo 1.6 16V from 2002 I fit a new clutch 12 weeks a go and now the clutch start sleeping same times, same times I drive is ok soon I tach just a little bit on clutch pedal just 1cm is start sleeping my clutch is hydraulic not have adjustment I been remove the gearbox cover and check the fly wheel is very very dry and no leaks on diff drive shaft can you please help me whit any idea soon is possible tank you best regards:Berenguer

So I blew my clutch out of a 97 miata I went and purchased a aftermarket kit McLeod streetpower from moss Miata and a stock resurfaced flywheel we went ahead and replaced the rear main seal replaced everything throw out bearing pilot bearing everything torqued down to spec we went ahead and replaced the slave and master cylinder bled it for 3 days straight and we just can’t seem to get the car into gear we checked the throw out bearing it’s fine we replaced the master and slave it’s fine we weren’t getting much play off of the fork when we would pump the clutch pedal and once we bled the lines the clutch pedal would hardly give, we adjusted the clutch pedal to give the throw out bearing more play and still nothing everything is primed everything is solid as far as leakage goes we just can’t get the damn thing to go into gear anybody with any thoughts or wisdom here would be very appreciated thank you!!!!
i have 327 t5 camaro it broke down and we pulled trans the clutch spring was broke in half so we put a new clutch, fly, and press.plate in but when we cranked the car up and tried to put it into gear we found that it would go through all gears including reverse without pressing the clutch we also bleed the clutch b/c pedal was soft but it didnt do anything the pedal stayed soft and the clutch still wont disengage...working on it 4 3 weeks still wont move...please help, i have mustangs to beat
so me and my dad were mudding in our 1991 jeep wrangler... and my dad did a donut through a small empty pond and the engine stopped... he tried to start it again then the clutch wasnt working right, the next day when we pushed the clutch in, and we heard a leak somewhere, and now a year later i need a car aand he doesent really care about the jeep, so im gonna fix it and then he is going to give it to me. is my problem the same as yours? -Justin
I have a 93 ranger 5spd. The clutch has been engaging later - I've only noticed the past couple of weeks. Where it used to engage mid travel, it now engages almost topped out. I only have about 3 inches of travel before it disengages - out of about 10 inches total travel. I also have almost no freeplay. What could cause this? I drive in city conditions everyday - usually short trips because I'm a delivery driver. I try not to ride the clutch or slip it. I just had the clutch replaced about 6 mo
Hi. I am having issues with my 95 probe and my pedal is staying on the floor when I press it but I still am unable to shift into gear. I already bled the system and the fluids came out after a couple times of opening the bleeder. There are no leaks on any of the lines nor is there on the master or the slave. Should I replace them or could it be the Clutch or flywheels themselves causing my problem? It hasn't had any issues till today it went from shifting great to not at all today.
Brain I have a 93 Honda Accord LX with clutch issues. When i shift it grinds into second and third, and driving home to park it i notice on the freeway as i was shifting i was not picking up speed but slowing down when i press the gas the RPM will race. After parking the car and went to move it this morning into the garage putting it into first gear the car want move at all now. All my fluids are intact and im not leaking any thing do i need to replace my whole clutch system now ?
NEED HELP PLEASE! i have a 99 honda crv and my clutch pedal was really loose to the point where you can actually flap the pedal back and fourth really easly, it had about an inch to inch and a half of slack before i can feel it engage so my friend adjusted the pedal to where it would engage without any slack. now the clutch is slipping every time when the car gets hot, but when its cold the clutch grabs fine. we bleed the clutch also and there's no leaks as far as i can tell.
98 Jeep Wrangler Sport: swapped engine, trying to adjust clutch. Start the vehicle in neutral, will not go in in gear (grinds). Start vehicle in gear, vehicle will go forward and backwards, but makes a metal against metal sound. The clutch will not adjust fully. Keep trying to bleed slave cylinder, will not give me a strong pedal feel. Could this be the clutch is still not adjusted properly, Could master Cylinder be gone, or could throwout be knocked out of place when putting engine in?
Brian, I have a question. I have a 1990 Honda Accord LX and the clutch is giving me some problems. I just had the master cylinder replaced a few months ago and today as I was making a turn I tried to shift down and the car wouldn't go into gear. I pulled over, and as I pressed the clutch in, it still wouldn't go into gear. We turned the car off and easily shifted all gears. I was told to replace the slave cylinder......Is that true and how do I know if I need a complete clutch replacement?
I'm having a problem where my master cylinder fluid level periodically increases to the point of overflow and as it does, I get very bad clutch shudder. Each time I bleed it, the shudder goes away and I get much better control. I can deal with a grabby clutch, but in this case, I have no control over the shudder (apart from slipping the clutch during takeoff). I'm thinking that air is getting in from somewhere and is displacing fluid???
I have a question. I have a 95 eclipse gst with a hydraulic clutch, and i had to bleed it slightly regularly (say, once every two or three weeks). Today, I was driving and upon pressing the clutch, it simply slipped all the way down (it completely depressed itself and stayed there.) I CAN "unglue" the clutch per say, but it only does it again, and I can't put it in any gear. Any idea what it could be?

And so far the master cylinder doesn't show linking from my eyes and the slave cylinder isn't linking, I have brake fluid in the container but it looks dirty and its full.
The problem with the car is you need to puch the pedal down on the floor and the gears dont go in and the reverse grinds? What is the problem and what is the solution?

The clutch on my 08 scion tc doesn't fully come back up when pressed in to switch gears. I had this same problem a few months back and end up switch out both the master cylinder and the slave cylinder. It's work fine for a few months, now it has started doing it again. I don't think it can be the cylinders because they are new. What should I be looking at now.
hi on my 92 ford ranger i just got dont running it had to go somewhere 10 min later and clutch wont let the ignition work but i can still drive it and start it from the silinoid with a screw driver but i think it might be that switch thing on my pedal rod but any reply welcome just sick of starting in the street with a screwdriver :)

I have a 2003 chevy s-10 5 speed manual. I recently replaced the clutch. Before I replaced it the clutch pedal had no pressure and I could not shift the gears while the truck was running. I have a Chevy S-10 2003 double cab, brazilian made. Clutch keeps engaged at any speed and at any time, and when it happens I have to pump several times for it to suddenly release. I saw your video and found very useful to know how it works, but frankly I have no idea of what is going on. Any help is appreciated.
If the clutch pedal suddenly goes down to the floor while driving, and stays by the floor. what has happened? hydraulic fluid leak?
the pedal can be pulled up again manually(by hand), but does not seem to work anymore. it's loose.
it seems like there is a spring that pulls the clutch back and forth when I move the pedal with my hand.

I have a question, when im driving and hit 80 kph in the expressway, im on 5th gear my engine will suddenly slip the gear and starts to slow down, so what i always do is to step on the clutch again, to re-start the whole process and slowly release my accelerator. I have Ford Focus 2009 (europe) when I relice the clutch there is clicking noise and the engine is like shaken..to not do this I need to first relice the clutch very slowly and then pres on the gas pedal (in every gear) when the engine is very hot (hot temperatures outside) the clicking sound is harder and louder...I can record a clip and post it if you want..this is hapening 6 mounths now and Its going on my nervs :S
@fairhare do you have any resistance on the clutch pedal or is it limp? yes, any hydraulic failure such as a leaky master cylinder or slave cylinder could cause the clutch to not disengage, but the pedal will go to the floor with no resistance. sometimes the clutch disc will rust to the flywheel if the vehicle has been sitting awhile, and the clutch pedal will feel as if everything is normal. if this doesnt help reply back with your year, make, and model, and we can figure this out. I'm not sure if I have issues with my clutch or throttle every time I hit the accelerator there's this high squeal noise and it's no horse power especially when I'm going up a hill. it slows down and I have down shift. is that the clutch for sure???
I have a 2000 saab-93 and i have to pump the clutch 3 or 4 times to shift it in the next gear and sometimes it makes a loud sound when trying to put it in to gear. I have had the master and slave cylinder replaced and the clutch and pressure plate as well.
Oh also while bleeding it when pressin the pedal to the floor and holding it down the fork coming from the transmission still gives out as if you let off the pedal and it returned to it's original position even though the pedal is still to the floor

hey what if my ford truck seem to get worse by it not shifting good too starting out by starting the truck in gear and it would try to take of and so i thought i would bleed it now ive got nothing just stays the floor?????

i had my clutch replaced on my 2005 toyota corolla,but when i put it in reverse in the morning after a few mins it doesn't what to go in reverse right away i have to pump the clutch pedal a few times before it goes into reverse or if i try first gear it does the same thing ...does anyone know if i need to check my cluch master cinder or my slave cinder ...
i hacve a 2000 dodge 3500 when ever i push the clutch down its really easy until i get almost to the bottom of floor but it want release the clutch any suggestions and its not leaking any fluid

my civic 2003 wont bleed. nothing is coming out the slave cylinder i had a friend to help me with me bleeding the clutch. nothing is coming out when i open the screw any suggestion would me most grateful

i put a new Master Cylinder and slave cylinder on my car and it has no leaks in the lines and i i bled the shit out of it but its sill to the floor is my clutch bed? i need some help fast!!
