I've seen your vid4o before Liz and didn't understand the process then about a year ago. Now I do since taken your course Mark Making. My play experiment rubbing charcoal over vibrant colours speaks to me. It speaks of being born in London and recalling the sootiness of the buildings. I use the term patina and that's gone now in the gleaming cleaned old buildings that I miss. It places me in a time of history.
So enjoyed this, Liz. It perfectly encapsulates the kind of book I've been wanting to create, but have struggled to visualise clearly. Really inspiring, thank you!
Thank you for this video. I like the concept of journaling as a running parallel as you called it. This video is timely for me as I explore mixed media on Vancouver Island Canada. Merci Liz.
Many thanks for your comment! I am so glad that you enjoyed the video. I find journaling such a useful parallel with the painting. It also helps you clarify and hone ideas . Good luck with your mixed media journey. I visited Vancouver Island back in 2011. Its a wonderful place!
Your so very talented Liz, i adore your style. May i ask what glue you use to attach your pics to the paper in your journals please?. Cheers Katrine :)
Hi - thank you for your kind comments. I’m glad you enjoy the videos. In the journals I just use a simple Prit stick or similar. This is a roll up glue stick that’s easy to Cary snd use. It’s fine for the journal. I’m my collage paintings I use either pva or more usually a gloss medium.
A lovely record
Thanks so much Anne

Great Leila I’m glad it helps!
Really interesting idea Liz, to have a journal to analyse parts of the process, instead of masses of pieces of paper as in my case.
I find it useful and because I have the journal it prompts me to record stuff!

Can I ask, do you use other sketchbooks for the same project? Then bring photos of that work over to this book?
Thanks so much Mags . I think I shall use this approach going forward as it keeps everything together as an aid memoire

How do you make your small photos of your paintings?
Hi Susana I’ve just photographed them and printed them out small using the printing options on my Apple computer.
