Interesting solution to a problem I think we all have, hope it works out for you at the end of the summer.
I used a tool called a T bevel to transfer angles when I was building a traditional La. pirogue, it may help if you decide to take another shot at this. They are not very expensive Home Depot, Ace Hardware, etc carry them.
Always enjoy your videos and learn something in the process.

That was the tool I used to get the first approximations as I stumbled my way toward the final shape.
