Oooo you bastards!
you guys have to do blackadder sometime!
You need soemone to animat this storys
Oh! Ever such a long way. I am despairing.
Just been having a look at the history of the actual 7th fusiliers, rather interesting
If we were to say that the regiments where named upon a historical basis (regiments in the British army didn't have names until late 1800s/early 1900s), the 7th regiment of foot (the royal fusiliers) where in action from the English civil War up until 1968. During the napolionic wars the regiment fought at the subsequent engagements:
Battle of Copenhagen (1807), the capture of Martinique (1809), battle of talavera (1809, in sharpe the infamous battle where he captured an Eagle), Battle of Bussaco (1810), Battle of Albuera (1811). In 1812 the regiment (of two battalions) was at the sieges of Ciduad Rodrigo and Badajoz, and at the battle of Salamanca in the summer. In 1813 it was at Vittoria and the battle of the pyrenees. In 1814 the 7th was at Orthez and the final action for the regiment (in the napolionic wars) was in April 1814 at the Battle of toulouse. This was the final action in the peninsular war and forced the abdication of Napoleon. The 7th did not take part in any further battles against napoleon, and were not at Waterloo as they were sent to Canada to fight against the USA in the war of 1812. The regiment had 2 battalions during the peninsular war, the second of which was disbanded at the end of the war (before napoleon's 100 days). From what I can find there is no given reason as to why this happened, so perhaps the battalion of the 7th in this battle, and the disgrace Assquith brought upon the regiment got the 2nd Battalion disbanded! Loved this video and thought it would be nice too weave this into the real history of the Fusiliers.
Hope someone finds this interesting!!
What makes a good wargamer is the ability to throw 3 dice a minute in any weather
Hahaha! Perfection 🫡
now that's wargaming
The models falling "on their own" when taking a hit is an awesome touch!
Falling 'on their own', now that's Soldiering.
I feel like this needs a sequel to see how the rescue mission goes.
"Men are dirty, sir. Rifles are clean." One of the best lines I've ever heard in a TV show.
"You lost The Colours of the King of England. You disgraced us, Sir! You shamed us, Sir! You will answer!" One of mine.
I dunno sir!

@@harfgarflarf "A man who loses the King's colours, loses the King's friendship!"
"Do you know what makes a good Officer?"
@@t.jmaddog2188The ability to fire 3 rounds a minute in any weather sir
There needs to be a follow up with that French Hero! But he is a special character now with appropriate rules. Perhaps he must save Napoleon himself?
Sharpe breaks out in Napoleon's camp, and Le Sharpe must defend Napoleon
"There's nothing we can do"
Peachy and the Yogs!? This is the kind of nerdy crossover I live for
Next they’ll invite Duncan or WintersSEO
Would love to see Winters on here
Le Sharpe should get his own show
I can't believe lewis actually was allowed to win one of these. So proud of my boi.
Le Sharpe wouldn't let Lewis lose! Lol
Destroying an entire British column and then capturing the Prince of Wales, Major Sharpe, Sergent Harper and The Needle? That's le Soldiering
😂😂😂 Vive Le Sharpe!
And, video spoiled.
Commenting on a yogscast video? That's a soldering
@@marcuscribbhistory Looking at the comments before watching the video? That's French froggery.
@@samuelcaponi4516 Lots of Metal work when commenting on a Yogscast video.
It’s funny how you mentioned Le sharpé. After Theresa is killed sharpe settles in France and married a French women and has kids. In Bernard cornwells (author of sharpe) ‘starbuck’ series which is based in the American civil war, there is a French colonel of the imperial guard who is sent as a obersever and ends up befriends the main character Starbucks. It is heavily implied in the series that this is sharpes son. He is said to carry a big Calvary sword ( like sharpe) and that his father was an English rifle man who married a French women but he took his mothers name.
Oooh I did not know this, I’ve read those books but it must have slipped me by.
Oh no……new hobby ideas inbound 😂👍
Calvary or Golgotha was a site immediately outside Jerusalem's walls where, according to Christianity's four canonical gospels, Jesus was crucified.
He actually says that his mother has been very sad since his father died IIRC. Which probably means that Sharpe lived into his late seventies or eighties given that he was about thirty when he left India in 1805. Quite a good run for a Bean character.
@@harfgarflarfTeach everyone to spell the word correctly. 😂
Naturally I made a hamfisted fanservice crossover, that's my style sir. *Harumph*
Honestly, I too was rooting for Le Sharpè. Seems like a fun character for a ongoing campaign.
Major props to the editors/cameramen, hours of footage, multiple cameras, getting the close ups, and having two different cuts with both being excellent, especially for how much these versions need to cut out without feeling like you missed something, bravo!
It's Le Sharpé's world, and we're just living in it.
"A good soldier knows when to keep his mouth shut when asked stupid questions, sir."
-Sweet William
Viva Le Sharpe' !
I can see him reappearing in one of the sequel series to become an unlikely ally because of his honor and super competence.
Le Sharpé just got a Total War style "man of the hour" promotion to full character after this!
This is one of the only channels we hit the bell for notifications. I'm way less interested in miniature gaming than my partner, but even I can't help but love your playthroughs. I just love that you tell a story every time!
Thank you! The storytelling is really important to us, so very glad to hear you're enjoying it.
@@GamesNight the storytelling is what sets this battlereport above all others.
@@GamesNight It's incredibly good, gives it more of a roleplay vibe than just watching some toy soldiers fight to obscure rules. The beautifully painted miniatures and terrain as well as the hilarious random characters getting their own story like Le Sharpé are top notch.
@@GamesNight Keep bending the rules to make it more entertaining for yourselves and us!
My girlfriend also loves watching these videos with me, because "They just seem to be having so much fun!"
34:40 To be more specific, these cavalryman were not French dragoons, but Polish Vistula Uhlans (they can be recognized by their characteristic cap - rogatywka), it was one of the best cavalry regiments of Napoleonic wars. British infantry had unpleasant encounter with them during battle of Albuera. I can imagine that this cavalryman who knocked down the main characters, is an experienced soldier who has been almost constantly in combat since the Polish-Russian War in 1792. Great gameplay btw, I hope that it isn't end of Sharpe's story on your channel.
th-cam.com/video/EXqpM0ZfaO4/w-d-xo.html. Here is Peachy's reply to your comment.
"He kicked me in ze groin!" Lewis' delivery on that line was perfect xD
As a historian, I can confirm this is historically accurate
At least accurate on the 'Ridley Scott scale of historical accuracy'
Hahaha!
Ridley "were you there?" Scott is a real lover of history he never fails to include as much of it as possible in his films, it might not all be from the same time frame but there's gonna be loads of it.
This needs a sequel with a rescue mission, where Sweet William turned out to have survived in proper Sharpe fashion. If that fails: Launch another with Wellsely personally getting involved to get his favourite rifleman back.
Holy shit, Peachy taking out his own commander was great!
It's so cool that you got peachy, and honestly this format in general is great for random guests and familiars alike! Yours are the only Battle Reports I can be bothered to watch.
Well, today I learned that Sergeant Harker of the Catachans in 40k is certainly based on Sergeant Harper of Sharpe's Rifles. Which doesn't surprise me, I'm just surprised I hadn't learned of it earlier.
There's the same amount of troops onscreen in this as there typically was on the show. 😊
Love these BatRep reports. Fantastic!
When watching the show, I used to say that the number of the troops on screen was like a wargame - 1 for 10. A squad standing in for a company.
@@ogremark5 tbf that got better after the first series, though obviously was never near the numbers real battles then were. Talaveria was awful in series one, not surprised Sharpe captured the Eagle, he only had to fight a handful of extras and maybe a stuntman.
Tell you what always felt a lot better was Hornblower. Somehow just felt like the battles in that seemed less CLEARLY limited by budget.
Would be great to see a similar show now given how much cheaper the mix of practical and CG effects would be even on a TV budget to make it look a lot more epic.
"Where's that bluddy guitar cummin from again?"
*Spanish Partisan in a top hat, noodling Sweet Child Of Mine*
"Bluddy 'Ell, Slasho! You was supposed to bring a musket!"
Really hope we see the return of Peachy to the channel for Sharpé 2: Sharpe's Gambit, hopefully with our true star in a new, improved, and promoted model. An attempted prison break from guerrillas, and some circled wagons for the French. I especially enjoyed the snappy editing cutting out all the humdrum.
17:36 "Major Hogan leaves the worst to the last. He says you lost the King's Colours."
That was all I could think about 'The 7th is stood down in name, if I wipe the name I may wipe the shame.'
When Lord Assquith got shot - "A man who loses the King's Colours loses the King's friendship."
Sweet William is the greatest recurring character when out of battle he wears a horsehair wig the “surgeon threw in for free”
Getting wiped out while charging up a hill? Now that's soldiering!
Ben and Peachy doing a bat rep? Don't wake me, this dream is too good. Only Tom would make it even better.
Sir Henry Simmerson would’ve prevailed, riding at the head of the South Essex, Lieutenant Gibbons at his side, a cousin at Horse Guards, and friends at court.
I look forward to Le Sharpé's continued adventures, the master duelist!
Rest in Peace, Senor Thop Hatman.
19:57 I called out plot armor and then hearing them all call it after as well was great, this felt like it could have been a proper episode or something!
Spanish Partisans: We are sending are Top Hat man.
Sharpe: You mean your Top man?
Spanish Partisans: No our Top Hat man.
Love the interval guitar pieces to simulate the 90s show vibes haha
"I've seen Sean Bean beat off the French many times" - Chris Peach, 2023
This absolutely needs a sequel. It felt like one of the better Sharpe episodes!
Peachy sent me. First time seeing your channel and I get the same fun feeling as painting phase, like we’re just hanging out playing a game. Subscribed!
😘👍 your a star bud
I am soooo looking forward to watching this. Used to sit next to Peachy in the GW Studio and talk about Sharpe (and biscuits).
Now that's some good Soldiering
This is the just middle of the episode. Part 2 is the sweet William and Peachy waking up wounded still on the field, sauntering back into camp. They round up the rest of cast and go on a rescue mission. Meanwhile Sharpe, Theresa and Harper fight their way out of dungeon, grab the Prince, duel the Frenchman again and meet up with the rescue party in the midst of the battle. Episode ends, cue guitar riff. This stuff writes itself.
Well that sounds like episode two has been written then 😂😂😂
@@thepaintingphaseAbout a month ago I binged on the whole series that somebody posted on TH-cam. It's all a mish-mash in my head currently because they posted the shows out of order. I could almost swear the plot I mentioned is either chunks of certain episodes thrown into a bag or very similar to an actual episode.
This was incredible. I've never been huge on napoleonic era games but the storyline of this game was so much fun. Please do more!
I see Lewis is still playing as the bad guys
Just like real life
@@nobodycares743 What'd he do?
Looking forward to seeing El Sharpo announcing himself rescuing plain ol' borin sharpe
I love everything about this. Learning the Yogs are a bunch of Sharpe fans after all these years is just the icing on the cake.
I just got recently into Sharpe over the past couple of years and this entire video had me grinning. Great show lads, proper Soldiering.
Sequel game, Sharpe and his fellow prisoners launch a prison break in a POW camp where le Sharpé was resting after the strain of this engagement.
Follow up battle between Richard Sharpe and Richard le Sharpé, please! I would love it!
Those three frenchies were like “they’ve got plot armor! Run!”
This is the first one of these battle reports I've seen - loved it! I really liked the style of telling it like a story rather than going along for the whole thing in real time
I like to think that when Sharpe took out the French officer, it was a bit like that Indiana jones seen where he just shoots the master swordfighter
It had something for everyone. For the Mums it had dreamy heart-throbs and for the Dads it had dreamy heart-throbs
This was damn brilliant. I would love to watch a french version of sharpe.
You forgot Sharpe's special rule called the Sean Bean effect, he never loses
Great to see Peachy gaming it up with the Yogs. Let the channel crossovers continue!
Its always weird for me to be reminded that Sharpe was a tv series. For me i grew up reading the books and never even knew it had a show until i was an adult.
Lewis or Tom and Ben on the painting phase?!? I love this crossover! My childhood meets my recent nerdy obsession, I’m in heaven, great bat rep! I dreamed of this day since peachy mentioned he liked the games night style on the podcast!
Yogs and Sharpe, my childhood all together in a single video.
Great storytelling guys - loved the miniatures, and the laughs.
I'm disappointed that Lewis didn't name one of his officers Recherché 😆
Didn't expect this crossover. Amazing :D
15:07 oh peachy why did you have to word it like that😂
Babe, wake up. Monthly Games Night
"that movie where you shrink yourself down..." The first thing I thought of was "Honey we shrunk the kids"
Sharpe gets me so warm and nostalgic, one of me dads favourites, makes me think of Sunday's as a kid
I'm so happy to see Yogs and Peachy collaborating. This is amazing!
This is amazing editing. The pacing with the actual gameplay interspersed with the recap AND it's a great length. also love the fx. Really wish they would credit the editor in some sort of credits.
Sharpe is the best! Love this era pick and scenario
These animations - absolutely incredible! The editing team have gotten SO GOOD!
That was absolutely amazing to see, I loved that very much and I hope we could see more adventures with Sharp/Shaprè
As a wee lil American boy I never watched Sharpe, but I have gone down a deep enough TH-cam rabbit hole to have experienced most of the show, so this was right good fun to watch lads! Ayup lads, raised from the ranks, SHARPE! And now that we have had nice, clean Napoleonics, when do we get grimy, dirty Turnip 28 Napoleonics?
Wohoo! Napoleonic era! I'd love to see some Silver Bayonet sometime, but I always love the diverse settings.
I think what’s really awesome about this channel, and what makes your batreps so endlessly rewatchable is that fact that it doesn’t even matter what game your playing, you’re having such a blast that you can’t help but get excited to watch. That and definitely just the amazing amount of character and narrative you put into them all with your custom scenarios and etc. it has really inspired me to look into crafting my own narrative missions for when I play with my own friends. You guys are awesome and keep the batreps coming!
Love the editing of this, makes it so fun and engaging to watch/listen to
Huzzah!!!! It has 'Sweet William' Fredricksen!!!!!! Outstanding!!!!!
Amazing group of lads, excellent editing, beautiful terrain, minis, rules, and what a game! This came out of nowhere in my recommended and was some of the best minis related content I've seen! Big Sharpe fan to boot!
Like my mum says as well it's Sean Bean for the girls and War for the boys like myself,
great series we even say quotes from Sharpe sometimes.
I love this! Makes me very happy. Also the Sharpe show is close to my heart to.
Me and my best friend (whom sadly passed away a few years ago) were deep into warlords black powder. We used pull string firecracker for our artillery and loads of Cotton balls for smoke. We had so many casualty markers to, it was brutal! Oh yes, and a lovely mix of period marchers in the speakers. Happy days indeed! Cheers!
Love how you can tell everyone is having such a good time.
Diabolical fun - and also twisting our minds by circling the British units in "French blue" while Nappy's troops are circled in British red. Tricky, that.
Another amazing episode. Keep this up! Hoping we get a fun Christmas themed one next month
I just started watching Sharpe last month that show hits as hard as ever.
It was a brilliant series. The first series was a little ropey budget wise, with the exception of 'Sharpe's Gold' which was fukin awful, every episode was a banger. If you enjoy it check out Hornblower next :)
"what they call you then...you know when they think you cant hear them" "Sweet William"
Nice work guys love it. I used to watch Sharpe years ago.
This was brilliant, the narrative, the insanity on the british part, excellent. We have a historic Wargaming meet in my home town, and have been playing napoleonics for some time. Please give us more Chosen Men! Thanks for the great effort and keep on rockin them dice
I love these videos - so well done
Peachy and Yogs! YES!!!
I've only come across you guys quite recently but you bring some great laughs to me thank you so much
I've never watched any full episodes of Sharpe but there was a period where clips of it were constantly showing up in my recommended feed and I watched all of them.
If they decide to do like follow ups to these one of the follow up to this battle needs to have a disgraced Sharpé for some reason fighting side by side with Sharp in the temporary alliance episode where they both come away having escaped certain death if they did not work together with a greater respect for each other.
I stumbled upon this but it is absolutely brilliant. Loved every second!
Great battle report ! Absolutely loved it. Keep up the awesome content!
These are my favorite videos on TH-cam! Always make me laugh and smile! Love the detail and care put into everything from the model to the editing! Just so good!
The editing on these is insane, nice job!
Excellent video, and great to see Peachy on the channel!
Another brilliant episode. Just love the banter and the narrative.
this was wonderfull. Beautifully painted and a great game. Hope more are coming!
