this is back in the day when songs were of love, sung perfectly, no auto tune, vile words, talk singing, just utter classic melody that everyone can sing along to. Just purely beautiful
This man had such an underated voice. Technically brilliant. Used his voice brilliantly to sing superbly. Truly one of the great but underated singers.
I'm speechless when I try to express my admiration for Jack Jones. He is phenomenal, talented and so smooth! What a voice! Will always love him and his amazing voice.
Can't help myselfe listening too this rendition of "IF "absolutely brilliant Jack & Shirley at the top of their game glad I was around too witness and hear this happening
Wow! what an amazing duet from two amazing artists. Loved Jack Jone from the first time I heard him sing , back in the seventies. My husband got tickets to see him at the London Palladium for my birthday. Front row seats and I thought I would die when he came off the stage and walked along singing. It's something I will never forget and after that I bought his albums and still have them today. Just watching this video makes me cry . R.I.P. Jack Jones .
Jack recorded an album with all music by Bread. Shirley, who is beautiful and talented, sang the melody we all know. Jack’s harmony part is cleverly written. Two absolute pros!
Why this man is not known in the world like Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, Tom Jones, Tony Bennett and others. Politics or Jealousy, Jack Jones was a very good looking guy and very entertaining kind of guy.
Yes, more, more...can't get enought..this videlo is amazingly wonderful, JACK JONES (I'm in heaven)...he certainly was a looker, let alone one of the world's best singers. And Shirley Bassey is great, esp. with JJ.
There are a lot of comments about how underrated Jack Jones was, and I agree - he never truly got his due. I think it was a combination of the fact that he always made it look so easy and effortless, plus his versatility - he was all over the map in terms of material he covered, which probably made him hard for people to define and harder still to market him - plus, later, the negative association with the cheesy "Love Boat" theme. In some ways, I think the (also quite versatile) Michael Buble has had the career and stature Jones should have had. It's too bad he was born too soon for David Foster to take him under his wing.
Beautiful!! Jack's counter melodies to Shirleys power is clever and wonderful, and graciously dropping to Shirleys key, shows the range Jack Jones has and the grace in which he uses it
I saw Jack Jones live a couple of weeks ago in Birmingham, UK, and he sang 'If'. His performance was stunning. A truly great singer. I'm only 29,, but can appreciate raw talent.
Jack Jones was the epitome of the handsome, charming, talented male pop singer of the Mad Men era. Shirley Bassey is,and always has been, nothing less than a force of nature. Thank you very much, whoever posted this, for digging it up.
Awesome duet from two of the greatest ever...Jack is still incredible in concert and The Performance, new Shirley cd is amazing...Bravo Jack & Shirley and long live your glorious talent!!!
brilliant - Jack Jones is technically so so underrated - and watch near the end of the song how he cleverly gets shirley out of trouble when she begins to sing the wrong words....[ AND ONE [ or is it.... WHEN!!!! ] BY ONE THE STARS......]
This is one of my hundreds of guilty pleasures on TH-cam. Both artists at the top of their game with a timeless song (Thank you David Gates). So impressed with Jack at the end when Shirley takes an extra breath at the end but he doesn't and provides that lovely harmony. Both of these performers are in my own personal hall of fame and this is an exquisite example from both of them.
What a lovely performance. Thanks for posting this. Not to many male performers are brave enough to sing with the gloriously talented Dame Shirley, but this Jack Jones held his own. Very pretty.
Why do my tears started to fall down my cheeks the second Jack uttered the first note? 😪😪😪I am sad but happy too after hearing this two brilliant legends!
Maggie Webb: Time marches on. One day we look in the mirror and we have gotten old. Listening to this music once more is a wonderful experience though.
+R. S. Kurtz Y'know, it's a bit sad that we have to "go back in time" to find good music and "singers who can sing"!* I look at today's teen-aged tarts who recite melody-free doggerel and performing "aerobics", while calling the performance a "music video", and I hearken back to my youth, when talent like this was shown on television almost every night. Watch a Justin Bieber video, minus the "computer magic" and "auto-tune" to see what I mean.
He just melts me when he looks at her!! He is so comfortable singing with other people( men or women)! Truly gifted!! Will always love all of his singing since he started singing in the 60's!! Love you Jack! ❤❤💋🎵🎶🎼
When singers never sang, because they sing! In the higher realms of our souls. And finished with a Kiss, I Love YOU! Glory Be To God Almighty! Amen! What a Gift, Thank YOU! GOD
Wow they are both in amazing peak form, seductive and sensual Jack & Shirley are sublime together and what a rare talent they possess...magical and magnificent!
@SongsFromaTinyRoom It's a shame that Jack Jones is underrated but this duet with the great Shirley Bassey is divine! And I never noticed the little mistake that Shirley makes but Jack Jones cleverly "gets her out of trouble". Now this is a real duet! Wish there were more duets like this today.
Used to always see Jacjk Jones when he came to the UK in the early and middle seventies. He always gave a flawless performance. He was lucky in the fact he was blessed with perfect pitch so never sang a wrong note.He is one of the few singers who compared well to Sinatra,Vic Damone,Dino ,Al Martino et al.
inspite of the low tech audio eqpt during that time, the quality of their voices are out of this world..shirley and jack..awesome! awesome! jack jones never fails to fascinate me with his control and technique..changing in an instant his pitch..only very very few real singers can do this..if you are a singer...jack jones without doubt is tops on your list..
Jack Jones is a great singer and always been a great, his voice has a wide range, to be able to sing duet with a female singrs, the male singer need to have a wide range to be able to sing a harmony above her voice....
Jones had and amazing tonal sound... aesthetically pure, lyrically beautiful... (Bassey a legend of course) and yet Jack was superb technically as well... notice he doesn't take a breath before the climatic note, Dame Bassey rightly does and he's still able to elongate it no problem... wow...
That must be one of the best duets ever sung.Perfect in every way .
this is back in the day when songs were of love, sung perfectly, no auto tune, vile words, talk singing, just utter classic melody that everyone can sing along to. Just purely beautiful

Beautiful song with a lovely duet! RIPJack!
Back to visit this great duet again...
I'm speechless when I try to express my admiration for Jack Jones. He is phenomenal, talented and so smooth! What a voice! Will always love him and his amazing voice.
If they sing together is magic ❤
What a great song and a great duet. RIP Jack Jones, one of the last singers from the golden age of crooners.
Lucky Shirley. A wonderful duet.
Oh where am I to go - what a supremely romantic rendition by Jack Jones and ms shirley
Very rare for two singers to feel comfortable with the camera so close the entire song. Very intimate and focused. Love them both.
Can't help myselfe listening too this rendition of "IF "absolutely brilliant Jack & Shirley at the top of their game glad I was around too witness and hear this happening

I misread your post as "the crap composted today" but it really says the same thing.
So true yet so sad
Something else funny great vocals and a beautiful touch when she ask him did I hurt you.I had a tear in my eyes.
So well matched

Two of the best singers ever, and together -- MAGIC!
Two beautiful people singing a beautiful song. What happened to the world that we can't have this kind of talent now. Thank god for TH-cam.
Two great artists, superb
Why this man is not known in the world like Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, Tom Jones, Tony Bennett and others. Politics or Jealousy, Jack Jones was a very good looking guy and very entertaining kind of guy.
How could this not work out to wonderful.
Powerful and beautiful together as would expect. They loved doing this duet...you can just tell!
Yes, more, more...can't get enought..this videlo is amazingly wonderful, JACK JONES (I'm in heaven)...he certainly was a looker, let alone one of the world's best singers. And Shirley Bassey is great, esp. with JJ.

Great observations...he also got cancelled because a stupid DJ in the UK thought the lyrics to wife's n lovers was demeaning to women.
Fantastic
Beautiful!! Jack's counter melodies to Shirleys power is clever and wonderful, and graciously dropping to Shirleys key, shows the range Jack Jones has and the grace in which he uses it
What can you say other thank you , Priceless

Jack Jones is a great singer and always been a great, his voice has a wide range, to be able to sing duet with a female singrs, the male singer need to have a wide range to be able to sing a harmony above her voice....
He seamlessly corrects her in the second chorus toward the end...masterful
You mean the lyrics of Ms Bassey?! I noticed that, too. I just love these two singers.. Forever etched in my ❤️!
+Patrick McNamara noticed that too. what a splendid performance.. simply magical
Jack the lad probably the best singer of popular song
David Gate's songwriting of his "IF" is beautiful here.
Jones had and amazing tonal sound... aesthetically pure, lyrically beautiful... (Bassey a legend of course) and yet Jack was superb technically as well... notice he doesn't take a breath before the climatic note, Dame Bassey rightly does and he's still able to elongate it no problem... wow...
