I used to tweet to her every now and then. She always took time to reply, and I thought seemed nice and excited for her career as a writer. It was an absolute show when I found out just the tiniest bit of the things she's done. I could've never seen it if it didn't come out when it did. She fooled me and a lot of other people. It goes to show, caras vemos, corazones no sabemos. "We may see their faces, but we don't know their hearts".
Always nice to see the book community put nonsense like this in its place and also stand up for what's right. Rin Chupeco is one of my favorite author's (adored the Bone Witch series!)
I live in a parallel universe (my niche is more of a political twitter) so I didn't know any of it, but thanks to the surge of BIPOC recommendations on TikTok I got some nice ones on my list!

I read Duncan's books when I was younger (ig high school ish age) and I wasn't rly active on social media, so my heart dropped when I realized she added anti-semitic and racist tropes into her books. What kind of person even does something like that.. I was so shocked and embarrassed that I didn't recognize the anti-semitism bc I didn't even know what "blood libel" was before the news came out. I read and loved Rin Chupeco's Bone Witch series though so I'm thankful they stood up for their fellow authors. Thank you for taking the right stand in the book community.

To me Emily's behavior is horrible and disgusting I was a fan of her books but once I found out about her behavior I stopped reading her them 😡🤬
