  • Charlie discusses what it's like to be the "talent" on a TV show. He reviews shows aimed at men; Ross Kemp on Gangs, Top Gear and Britain's Hardest. He also reviews courtroom reality show The Verdict. Reginald D Hunter talks about British TV from an American perspective.

Because Charlie is really presenting his own views his delivery works really well even if it brakes all the "rules"

That presenting coach sounds insanely like Gog from Peep Show.

It's a shame to teach people how to be generic and empty. It's the individual personality that lends a tv presenter whatever charisma they may have. It's because Brooker is himself rather than a robot that we like him.

Charlie is awesome in his different presenting style. It makes him seem sincere.

7:33, yes a MASTER! He's clearly been to the Michael Beurk school of presenting. Give that man a job on BBC News!

I find it refreshing to see Reginald not putting on his "I'm slightly stupid" act, and just speaking intelligently.

This goes all the way back to the first ever episode..it's all about prefabricating a presenter out of one of the types Brooker described then. F*ck that!

If you're at a dinner party and a guest insists on complimenting the glasses instead of, say, the food or drink or your company or clothes or literally anything you've actually put effort into - that shit cuts deep.

Talk about bad timing; just as I finished part 1 of this episode and the implied BJ scene cropped up it cut to black and TH-cam decided to show me a normally pretty innocent Müller corner advert about a teacher feeling awkward about licking the creamy yoghurt in front of a bunch of kids.

@franceshemphill No, I liked his other work when I found it on fat-pie(.)com; however I went to fatpie(.)com first, which is a rather different website. Any yes, he is.

The "Banged their knee" channel sounds more like the "KnightMare" channel.
In fact, I'd watch a channel that was nothing but 24 straight hours of Tregard commenting on player deaths.

It's a fear that by complimenting the glasses, the guest is drawing peoples attention to the fact they are possibly cheap or tacky/gaudy without overtly insulting the hostess, which wouldn't be seen as 'proper behaviour', so she can be both critical and polite.
In the same way, by exclaiming that the hostess is covertly asking for help with the washing-up, the guest is patronising the hostess and re-appropriating the power.Or something like that...
    It's a very Middle-Class concern...

This must really be a British thing - can somebody explain why the lady in that series was offended by her guest complimenting the glasses? I understand about the washing up, but this is quite strange to me

I cannot think of a presenter I like better in the US or UK, especially concerning humour presenters....also at the very beginning, is it just me, or does it look like they didn't blur Phil Jupitus out enough to disguise him?
