    Rented a M20 in Bentonville last month. I fell in love with this bike. We rode for 4 hours (that was enough!) and still had one dot on the optional shimano steps lcd display (you can retrofit to your bike) - plenty of range on the 360 battery. Not sure if I’d ever need the 540 battery to be honest. Love how the bike lets me bunny hop like my regular mtb….no limitations!

    I converted my Rise to a 160/160 64 degree mullet. ....and I LOVE it! My local trails are pretty steep and janky. The extra bit of travel and slightly slacker setup made a big difference. I went the same 155m 5Dev cranks too. So good! Less pedal strikes and a more comfortable stance on the descents. I switched the front tire to the DHF for a season, but then tried an Assegai. I definitely like the Assegai more. For me, the grip was just as good, if not better, and it felt more natural transitioning from the center nobs to the side nobs.

    • @DrJMTB
      @DrJMTB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Assegai definitely can’t be beat on grip! And the mullet setup sounds like a beast as well. I actually already had the stock stroke in the Super Deluxe laying around, or that setup would have been a real option.

    Spot on review! I’ve had my M10 for 2yrs now and put a 160 air shaft in the fork and an Ohlins ttxm22 coil on the back with 1 offset bushing=64.5hta. Got Vitoria Mazza tyres with cushcore and it’s fantastic. I ride 90% without extender with full fat friends but do use the extender on some bigger days. If I had the money would get a carbon 540wh as you say but 360 normally good. I use a Garmin watch for battery % and it’s really good. Just subscribed as you’re review was so good and exactly my thoughts. I still use my regular bike sometimes on group rides and looking at Strava climb times haven’t lost any fitness. If I was on a full fat think I would have gone downhill. Keep up the good work.

    I am the owner of a 2022 M10 Rise. It's a great bike. Just changed the discs for Shimano Freeza front (200mm) and rear. For 2-3 hours trail ride, the small battery is enough. Found an extender for longer rides. Go for it!

    What a GREAT summary. I have the SAME bike-like you, added a coil shock, better saddle, but I added a fat 2.6 Assegai up front. 203 mm rotors, MTX pads, and a PNW bar n shorter stem.. Def. pausing on a new emtb until this bike REALLY feels outdated. Interesting the FAZUA equipped bikes STILL do not have a range extender available!

    I totally get the appeal of a low-mid power, light weight bike….but I love me sum power. The Orbea Rise is a badass bike for sure. Something about Orbea that just does it for me visually. Love that bike. Coils are my ❤

    • @DrJMTB
      @DrJMTB  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. Definitely 2 different beasts, but I do think the Rise bridges more of that mid vs full power gap that most folks realize. The difference in weight really does help to offset the decreased power. But you can for sure feel that extra grunt on newer full power rigs. And the coil spring really did make this bike shine for me!

    I just sold my 2021 carbon Rise and got a fuel exe. I liked the Rise, but man the fuel exe is just so nice and have solved some of the stuff I disliked about the Rise, most notably the loud motor and the wet noodle backend, annoying battery indicator. I tried my rise is so many different configurations was loved most (many of the same upgrades as you did, stock 140/150, mullet, full long travel 27.5 160/180 and so on). But it never solved those issues. I was hoping the 2023 Rise would have a brace on the rear triangle to stiffen it up, but nope. Something I dislike about Shimano is how nothing of the new stuff is backwards compatible. It's stupid and wasteful that you need a completely new bike to upgrade the battery display and motor rattle. which are some of the main annoyances of the 2021-2022 system. I'd like to simply be able to get an upgraded motor and mount it to the same bolt holes (at least the bolt holes are the same). It seems to me that the e-bike industry is one of the most anti consumer and anti environmentally friendly industries.

    I could really benefit from this bike after 25 years on an analog bike and now in my 60’s; however, no access to the trails in my area. Pisgah and DuPont do not allow e-bikes. Kanuga is an option but really no longer my style of riding. I keep hoping these restrictions will change soon or I will end up doing just road rides.
