Good to see the battery removal, thank you. Just a tip though, if you do this with your Rise upside down, the motor won’t drop and it makes it a million times easier to reinstall everything 👍🏻
Cheers Chris, the reason I've done this is because my bushings are not staying put as I've replaced the frame. So they would fall into the frame, especially when reinstalling everything.
i wonder why there's so much dirt inside when the motor has a cover. now would be a good time to check the wires for any issue and clean the underbelly. at 10:06, where did those spacers come from? Very good tutorial video!
There'll be dust, water going from the headset or cable holes but I wouldn't worry about that. Spacers are in-between the motor and frame (for the screws holding the motor). Thx!
I think it's a lot easier to work on the motor with the bike simply being turned around on it's head. That way you also do not risk it falling down, pulling the wires.
great !!! have to reposition the outer shell for my new fox kashima seat post and yes, but yes, the motor and battery have to be removed because the outer shell cannot be pushed in any further.
So happy it helps! It's my 1st how to kinda video so there's plenty to learn. Motor guard is from Rockguards, comes from UK I think and it's about 50e.
First time 50 min then 1h 10 min because some inner bushings (in-between frame & motor) were always falling in frame. If you know what to do and did it before you could do it in 20 min
Hi, it is from Rockguards you can get it from link below. It is not very strong like amygos but weights ~50 grams. I am happy with it to be honest and would buy it again or fix it with resin if it breaks, smashed it a couple of times in rocks and it held up but sometimes you only need one hit to break it. rockguardz.com/ www.amygos.fr/
Curious, was this done because the internal female thread stripped that holds the water bottle cage/battery extender bracket? I have the Hydro and now concerned that one needs to be carful with those threads. Thanks for posting!
The screws got stripped actually so the male. The original screws are famous for getting stripped... I used stripped screw removal bits and was able to remove one but the other one couldn't get it out even with a drill.
i got a 2023 model... i got me the tools wich it say in the bluepaper... tl-fc33 + tl-fc39... BOTH of them dont fit!!! after looking online for a while i found a installation guide for the cranks only... inside the manual it says use TL-FC430... from looking at it, it seem like it should fit... but im not sure u also use a total differnt one???
Easy to remove the motor, putting it back is very difficult to line up mounting holes, does anyone here know the tap size of the motor mount? I need to clean one of the theaded holes!
@@suspensioncheck I was just too stupid to watch the video properly. It's actually the TL-FC39 Tool from Shimano and it fits, just that it is not 44mm, at least not the part which goes on the chain ring.
Just to get to sensor connection then replace it if error W101 occurs it seems like on Bianchi as well I’d have to drop motor like this too. Any ideas how long you took to yours please?
Hi Patrik, everything stays in place if you turn the bike upside down. You can remove the battery and motor but you won't be able to ride it as cranks are being held by the motor. If you look for a bike where you can do that search for a bike with Fazua motor.
@@suspensioncheck great !!! have to reposition the outer shell for my new fox kashima seat post and yes, but yes, the motor and battery have to be removed because the outer shell cannot be pushed in any further.
It was so difficult and I struggled a lot without other tools. In the end I gave up and brought the bearing puller set. I used the inner tool from the set to hold the bushings in position while I put the motor in with the bike upside down.

Thanks for the video! Reg. the two bushings, mine came without o-rings… I‘ve added these now but found it pretty easy to re-install the motor, because the bushings somehow „pop“ into the frame and stay there. I‘ve just inserted the two concerned motor bolts half-way and these held the bushings in place while wiggling the motor in. I am asking just out of curiosity what the challenges were, why the tool is needed…? 😊
Have no idea but if I was a shop in Dublin I'd need to charge 150-200 euro probably as there's all kinds of expenses, tools, rent, employees, insurances and profit. It's an hour of work for someone that has done this before.
no need to pull cranks !! a cut off 6mm allen wrench will work to remove those two bolts that are hard to get at , no problem , easy motor drop, orbea rise ep8 rs motor
If you want a real review of the orbea rise then go to trust pilot and read the reviews. The company is terrible. I bought an orbea rise and 3 months later the frame snapped. Orbea are terrible with customer service, immediately offered a crash replacement for £££ and won’t honour the ‘lifetime warranty’
In what spot it broke and did you hit it? I broke the frame at the headtube and paid for crash replacement warranty 900e. In fairness it was a very brutal impact that I'm not sure many bikes would've survived.
@@suspensioncheck no impact, I was riding down a peaty footpath. It’s broken on the seat tube and chainstay on the drive side, maybe 6 inches above the lower bearings

I was told the battery was permanently installed in the Rise - seems that it can be removed and replaced if necessary! thanks for this video.
It can definitely be removed & replaced, you'd just need a few tricky tools and a bit of time but at least it's doable! Glad it helps.

good point
Thanks for the tutorial. What downtube protector is that? Looks great!
Thanks Richard!
That's the carbon Rockguardz protector, was about 50 quid and it held through some serious impacts.

Excellent info. Thank you for this
I appreciate that 🙏
Nice video! I'll definately bookmark this for reference. Shame the auto-focus kept blurring the image. Can you lock the focus on future videos?
Agree, sorry about that. To be honest it was my 1st 'how to' kinda video done :)
How to remove chainring locknut? Chainring keeps spinning with motor when trying to remove it? Does the chain need to be on? I have Rise H.
min 3:30. Block the wheel somehow I'd say if it's very tight, with chain on.
thanks for sharing the video... big help. question: where did you get the motor frame protector?
So happy it helps!

Good video. Thanks. Why did you remove the battery.
Cheers, I had to replace the metal plate where the screws for the battery cage / bottle holder screws into
Great video!! will be really helpful since i need to remove the battery for shipping. Do you know the length of the battery?
Glad to hear it helps!
Didn't get the measurements but it's significantly smaller than a bosch 625wh, maybe 35cm long?

My Orbea Rise seems to have a chain ring of 50mm, so a 44 16 notch bottom bracket tool doesn't fit. do you know how the proper tool for it is called?
Not sure Adrian, seems strange they used a different chain ring size.
Is it bought in Europe during 2021?

Hi have you hot a link to the tool tl-fc 39 thanks
Is the replacement part also made of aluminium?
Yes it is, I reckon it's for weight and also not to crush the carbon frame that's in-between the bottle holder and the actual plate.
