I don't know about you, but the milk steaming machine...I found particularly chilling in its intent. It's hard enough for people to find jobs, but if even trained Barista's are being replaced by machines for one of their few skillsets and let's not pretend this is to 'free them up' for other duties, then what are we doing?
I think there is some degree of that happening. As someone who paid barista's to be trained at my cafe, only to see them leave and have to go through the process again, I have a different view. I'd prefer to hire people friendly people. Those who can be assisted in making great coffee by the equipment, but who are naturally focussed on the good experience for the customer. I understand where you're coming from though. The world is changing friend!
Well, I think we're all going to have to get used to higher prices... IF you can get one at all with current supply issues 😞 No more videos on espresso machines Lilly. I stopped by Victoria Arduino, but I didn't see the Eagle One Prima on the stand, which I would have liked to have used. I spent more time talking to green bean importers and some local roasters. I also tasted some espresso from large super-automatic machines, and was really quite impressed how much complexity they got out of an ethiopian origin coffee. The last thing was just how amazing the automatic milk frothers were. I was serious impressed. I took some video of other machines, but kind of screwed up by filming it in portrait orientation :/. Maybe I'll post that anyway - Ill look back on the footage to see if it's worth it.
Apparently you can still screw up with an automatic steamer, my last coffee from McDonalds with milk from the Perfect Moose had terrible milk texture.. which matched the terrible coffee
The Faemina name is now being reused, going to make it more difficult to get info on the original from the 50s. Also how does it do pour over, looks like they're just putting a cone under which is nothing special. Sanremo You seems interesting, but it'll depend on the limitations and the UI design. Decent has poor UI but plenty of control and it is very direct with the data.
So which one did you like more? Sanremo or the Faema? I seriously contemplate about it and to my understanding the Sanremo have the flow profiling while Faema don’t, would really like to hear your opinion🙏
They're different machines. I actually preferred the look of the Faemina, which took me by surprise. But it's a multi-purpose machine, it does pour-overs as well as espresso, and once it's set up, it's push a button and go. The YOU was smaller than I thought from the pictures, and the handles I thought could be bigger, but I loved the interface, the data and the coffee :) If you only drink espresso, the YOU is.. well for you. If you drink pour-overs and want to programme it and forget - so the whole family can use, for example, then the Faemina is a great machine.
