@@alexinachoma5306 Sure but as far as patterns go its probably the easiest. Mainly cause it can be done without ever resetting to poor so less manouvering with the milk. If I add an espresso shot or even two espresso shots to a latte doesn't that change it to a cappucino? I don't know anything, but I was at the Wawa a few days ago and the order screeen asked me if I wanted to add an extra shot or two for 50 cents or a dollar. I added one shot, because I remember how light the latte is, normally. Way too milky and doesn't taste at all like coffee. Even with one shot, it wasn't so coffee flavored, but still better than without.

I just started off as a barista and I have watched this video atleast 5 times now. Everytime I watch it, I realise the mistake that I make in the cafe.
Thanks alot, this has really helped me to become a better barista. 😁

Nice video Chloe, love your accent :-) Just a couple tips if you are in Italy: 1) If you order a Latte, probably the barista will ask if you want it cold or warm, because he will serve you just a glass of milk; 2) a Cappuccino is often served (at least in Rome) with a sprinkle of cocoa powder on top. Try it!

Best explanation ever. Also the making and testing of latte and the cappuccino were so visually appealing. I'm sure they would taste just as amazing. You're a great teacher btw! My interest in coffee making renewed. Now about nailing that milk froth ...

Started barista training yesterday, the girl was nice but she was young and inexperienced(only two months of work) and had no idea how to explain the difference between them other than “one has more milk than the other” I decided i would just do research on my own, this was really helpful thank you!!

The spoon test is interesting. There's also a cappuccino test for coffee snobs. You ask for one and if the barista asks "what size you'd like" then you simply turnaround and walkout.

Thanks for this, nicely done Chloe!
James Hoffman (The World Atlas of Coffee) did a utoob bit on Capucinos and says the Capucin monks didn't shave their heads, and the name comes from their robes colour. But the shaved head idea works welly in practice.

This is a great video. Thanks for the obsessive cleaning of the steamer. I know nothing about coffee and it makes perfect sense to clean each time. Watching other videos no one does that. You did a perfect explanation between the two types of delivery.

In my personal favourite experiences, a latte has the silkier milk & just a higher milk to coffee ratio, something you can sip and relax and take your time to drink with the sweetness of the milk contrasting the espresso & preferably in a glass.
My favourite way to have a cappucino is a good double espresso in a wide small ceramic cup - plenty of froth, minimal milk, for that foamy + espresso mouth feel.
    With or with chocolate.
I find particularly in England than when you go to artisan coffee shops, the espresso in the drink is amazing, but every cappucino/latte/flat white tastes the same. I'd rather the differences be a bit more distinct.

This is exactly what I needed! Received my first espresso machine and used it today. It’s supposed to make cappuccino and latte, but they only give you directions for cappuccino. I know there’s a difference, but it was not gone into detail.
Then I found this site! Thank you, thank you thank you I saved it and will be referring back to it often. You’re very detailed. My American ears had a little trouble deciphering what you were saying, but the end of the video I got it, L O L…. The test at the end was an eye-opener and I look forward to trying it and drinking all my results! I look forward to more coffee videos, and I do love the sweatshirt! Your awesome

If I want to add a flavored syrup to my latte, what step would I incorporate that in? Do I put the syrup in the jug with the espresso or with the milk?

    • @cloclo2268

First before the espresso/during the espresso or after the espresso. Then when you poor the milk it shall all incorporate
