Gilberto Angel Santana none a defender will be way more fun and cool and more capable and upgradable. Or anything Land Rover. Get nothing jeep they break down so easily poorly built
@@XXX-kl5op I'd go with a Cherokee. They're easier and cheaper to build for off-road use, and the 4.0 straight-6 is super reliable. Check out Matt's Off Road recovery channel to see a Cherokee in action. If you decide to go for a 4Runner, check the frame very well as they tend to rot out.

the big downside of those trepadors is that they fill with mud and it won't come out.
unless you have a lot of power to spin the wheels they are worthless
i personally have creepy crawlers which are way more open. but the trepadors mud are a even better option but worthless on the road.
i think your best option for the wheel archers is to make them your self out of some rubber. all the modern ones are made out of hard plastic and explode.
the non painted ones from the old 90's and 110's are also good bu i don't think they will fit your 37''s they just fit my 35''s with some trimming but mine also has some extreme flex
Cheap and cheerful INSA TURBOs, cheap and remoulds but ace in the mud, NOISEY on road tho

Definitely need to air down Andy’s tires a bit for offroad, and some swaybar disconnects will make for a world of difference. And this is one of the reasons I personally love your channel Kev, you’re not afraid to send it!
sway bars are not on it. we were doing a lot of road driving between lanes so no good aring down and pumping up all the time

This was a master class on how to get stuck. Step 1: find the deepest mud hole you can, preferably with ruts in it. Step 2: Drive to the bottom of the mud hole. Step 3: Lose all forward momentum. Step 4: Punch it!

Here in the states a lot of guys will make their own arches out of old tires, flexible and won't trash your tires if they rub a little once in a while.
A Jeep Cherokee XJ would be great for that

And coil overs
And also a 6 cylinder engine so that means not to heavy
Yeah, plus a diesel isn’t the best since a gas motor gets higher RPMs and revs faster. The Defender is an amazing SUV though!
@@jacobcvpi8279 But diesels have great low rpm torque, which is usually considered an advantage over gas engine's, especially for offroading.

This brings back the days when I used to go mudding with 1/1th trucks. Lots of fun! But it's a lot cheaper to do 1/10th .
I've been waiting to see any the Landy get rowdy!! Rock on!!! Dude a snorkel would have been handy for that deep water.

So the eyelets on the front of the bonnet near the fenders, those are for fitting bush wires. At the start of the video when you were going through the branches, those wires will guide the branches away from your windows. Should keep you from breaking tour windshield and wipers. Cheers from the bush of Botswana.
When yo have traction problems, as in mud and sand, try dropping the tyre pressure a bit (like half) and you will get better traction..! Just make sure you have some co2 cans or a compressor to reinflate for the trip home...! :-)

😆😆 well done Kev! Andy is a beast off road. Next, try to low down tyres pressure, you will improve the traction on mud and more comfortable drive
You need to air down your tires when you go offroad.
Replace the steel winch cable by a winch rope, that is much more safe!
For your fender flares, you could take the “Bushwacker” fender flares.
The are flexible.
When you are stuck, don’t use your front locker when you are winching.
Especially not when you have still the original diff, axles en joint in combination with the 37” tires.
The front drivetrain doesn’t really like that😅
But nice work!

Brilliant video Kev, I'm massively into off roading back home in Australia so it's good to see you use your car for what it was designed for. Couple of questions though. 1. What did you let your tyre pressure down to (bias ply Trepadors work best at 10psi and below, but you'd need beadlocked rims for that pressure)? 2. I can't quite tell if you hooked the tow rope up to your tow bar? If so please google what happens when recovering others with one as it's not very pleasant to see (not moaning just concerned with people's health and safety). 3. Did you keep your diff locks on when winching? I've always been told to unlock the diffs as depending on how stuck you are it can put a lot of undue stress on the driveline. 4. What are the laws here in the UK regards covering the wheels with wheel arches? I only ask because I use flexible rubber wheel arches at home on my GQ Patrol 🤔.

Kev, some advice from South Africa... whenever you use your winch while sitting in the vehicle, please open your bonnet - for obvious reasons especially using a steel wire rope...

Use garden edging for the flares thats what we use in Australia
You can, and I used to but when bashed it tends to bend and sometimes break. I bought some of that 50mm rubber arch flare from eBay for about $45 AUD for 2 wheel arches. Looks and works quite a bit better.
I used to have a land rover discovery and it went through anything ...great car! It had full diff lock in there stock and had a button for each terrain you were in.
I envy you so much for having the real D110... I have the RC4WD 1/10 version of it, same colours! Love it!

Those maxxis tires turned into slicks when you got stuck, crazy you couldn't even see any tread just a perfect smooth mid wheel lol.

Nice video....I used to do the same with a modified suzuki samurai...had to quit the hobby because of too strict regulations here in Belgium and practically no places left to drive where it was tolerated...Now I have a TRX4 and my 4 year old son a TRX4 sport....enjoying it a lot...also enjoying your videos...watch everyone of it! 🤘🏻
With the wheel arches get a piece of convauerbelt and cut it to length that works and it flexs against trees so they won't get ripped off

A kind of important question regarding the 200+mph car. Where are you going to test it and where are you going to set the record?
I'm asking because if you can find a very flat and smooth road to test on then everything should be ok. But a bumpy road or one with a high crown won't be good.
I'm hoping you could use the Santa Pod drag strip to set the record, it'll probably be the safest and smoothest place in England.

Just ordered me the Extreme S920 Judge 1/10 scale with 2 7.4v 5200 mah batteries n charger also an upgrade of oil filled shocks.. Whats your opinion on the Judge even though its brushed...??? That was really cool. Andy is a dead set legend. Land Rovers have a reputation as a no frills no nonsense capable off-roader. I think Andy bears that out. They also have a rep for a rough ride......once again......
Haha, this is awesome! Mudding in the Landy looks like so much fun. To me, the Landy is so much cooler than the Lambo! I'm in the US, those are very rare here unless specially imported. On the other hand, Lambos are all over the place.

Use your old set of tires. Just cut em with a sawzall and use self tapping screws. Google it. Little bit of elbow grease you can have one of a kind fender flares on the cheap.

Reminds me of my Jeep YJ on 33's with a 4" lift. It did ok, but I bet the landie would beat it... So now I have a D110. I haven't taken it off road, as the TD5 is shot. I'm looking to get the motor replaced... if anyone has a contact!

I had a 02 Land rover freelander HSE.. The motor blew. Only had 77k miles on it. The dealer ship was putting the wrong oil I it.. I have a little vid on my page, doing some light off roading.. I kinda miss it

Got through so many halfshaft with those size wheels and tyres fitted, although friends were from a Landy Forward Control so maybe heavier.
But yeah, reinforced halfshafts.
its got ashcroft shafts and cvs so all good :)

Me and some friends went for some offroading in the middle of nowhere. The guy behind us started flashing his headlights, we got our and realised his entire rear axle had ripped off the chassis lol. We had to drag his car all the way back to a main road as his recovery didn't cover it unless it was on the road lol

The terrafirma 2” extension arches are pretty good, just put them on with riv nuts n 6mm bolts n not the crappy screws, work pretty well for me n I give mine some abuse haha looks like you have some fun lanes round you, where about s are u based I’ll come for a play in mine!
I reckon you make the air intake so it comes out in a tube up to the roof and also the same with the exhaust, would look coo dude!!! 👌🏽😂

i live in canada. every year we have 7 month of pure snow that is kind o get as hard as going trough as this mudy trail! hahaha the roads are still cleared out but anyway ..
