    Great info, Joy! You mentioned here about the intestines and gas, reminded me that I have been looking for info on food pairing (foods that digest well when eaten together) and was wondering if you have a video on this topic, or perhaps its an idea for a future video...thanks!

      Here's an article I wrote a long time ago that runs through the basics of proper food combining www.joyoushealth.com/blog/2010/05/02/heartburn-heres-a-solution-instead-of-pill-popping/

    What do you recommend for endometriosis?

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reducing inflammation with these would be a great start! Because each person is unique, it can be tough to give specific recommendations but the first place I would start would be to reduce inflammation and of course seek the support of a qualified healthcare practitioner. :)

    it would be interesting to know your thoughts about glueten? you think it's harmfull or just should be avoided when you are sensitive for it

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't avoid it 100% and most of the time if I do consume it, it's coming from ancient grains or sprouted varieties. People often overlook the symptoms of gluten sensitivity, so it's important to understand how it could be affecting you. I definitely noticed a difference when I cut back my intake. Here's some more info from my website: www.joyoushealth.com/blog/2014/11/18/8-ways-gluten-may-be-affecting-you/

    could you help by explaining about malabsorption (mostly fats) and what diet to practice if one is suffering from it including indigestion and other gastric problems. ...It would be great if u could help:))

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are having trouble digesting fats, you may not be producing enough bile which is produced by the liver and is responsible for emulsifying fats. I'd recommend eating lots of liver-loving foods like beets, onions, garlic, broccoli and turmeric and starting your day with a glass of water with lemon first thing. For further personalized recommendations, I would suggest scheduling an appointment with your natural health care practitioner :)

    • @amyy0025
      @amyy0025 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joyous Health Thanks a ton! But what if its more than the fats? what kind of diet should I follow considering at the moment my gut is weak?

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend scheduling a consultation with your natural health care practitioner that can look at the whole picture of your health history and help you get to the root of the issue.

    • @amyy0025

      +Joyous Health I totally get you but just as general advice what would you recommend as easily digested foods?
      ps: sorry for bothering u constantly!:p

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Soups and smoothies are generally good because they are already pre-digested. You may want to cook more of your foods too as opposed to eating them raw since it's harder to break them down when they're raw.

    Hiya Joy, what do you recommend to make your hair grow thicker? i have scalp psoriasis and my hair is urghhhh- Great video (as always) by the way :)

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I would make sure you are getting enough protein in your diet and that you are enjoying foods that are high in Biotin (which helps to support hair). It can be found in foods like quinoa, spirulina, eggs, oats, nuts, seeds and eggs. I'd also look at the root cause of your psoriasis to determine what will work best for you. :)

    Ginger affects my sinuses...is it harming or trying to heal?

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically ginger is very healing as it's an anti-inflammatory. Unless you are sensitive to it in any way. I would just monitor your side effects when you consume ginger!

  • @sofiasara98

    What, exactly, do you think is wrong with gluten for the average person?

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure if you've ever tried taking a break from it, but that's the best way to check if your body is sensitive to a particular food. It's just not gluten, there are other proteins found in wheat to be just as problematic. If you analyzed the wheat of our ancestors you would see just how different modern wheat has become. It is pro-inflammatory for the body. Inflammation sets off a whole cascade of chemicals in response to a food molecule it sees as being foreign. This could be why someone suffers from acne, digestive problems, hormonal imbalance, hair loss, weight gain -- all of these are common reactions to foods that the body is sensitive too. I've seen it in my own practice for several years. Once an offending food like wheat is removed, people often have complete cessation of their symptoms. Doing an elimination diet is the best way to determine what is best for your body. And finally, for those who love their bread, a properly soured/fermented bread is much better tolerated for many people -- that's what I enjoy. Hope that helps Sofia!

    • @sofiasara98
      @sofiasara98 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joyoushealth Thank you for your reply! I thought you were saying there was a universal problem with gluten itself for most people. The processing of wheat is most definitely an issue. I'm a current nutrition student, so I love hearing about all of these things that aren't necessarily taught in a university setting. Thank you again! :)

    my stomach usually does not accept supplements well. Is there a way to make sure I get enough enough pre/pro-biotics without taking supplements?

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you take your supplements with food? That typically helps. Otherwise, emphasizing fermented foods that help to nourish gut health is great, including kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha, miso paste or organic fermented tempeh!

  • @annafogdall9065
    @annafogdall9065 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    would you recommend that supplement for occasional head aches when pregnant? I also heard in one of your videos that you shouldn't be taking turmeric supplements when your pregnant that is what I used to take occasionally before I was pregnant. Why not?

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't recommend using this supplement while pregnant or checking with your physician beforehand. Turmeric supplements are highly concentrated which can have blood thinning properties or even stimulate the uterus causing issues for those who are expecting. But whole turmeric is fine to consume and would help reduce inflammation and headache pain. I hope that helps! Here's a recipe with turmeric that I think you'll love: th-cam.com/video/2zvMcBb_2Hk/w-d-xo.html
