Re: the coin slot ... while the coins could be saved for anything by putting them in the "bank", the salesmen often suggested saving them for new brush rolls or light bulbs; belts; Kirby Suds; and later, bags.. Electrolux Corporation provided plastic banks for the same purpose (not sure of other companies).
You left out a few things. The fill tube was redesigned so that it would no longer split at the bottom. I don't know what model this started with. The base pan is now polymer instead of metal. This started with the Sentria 2. Changes have been made to the fan blades over the years to improve CFM. The nice thing is the newest, best fans still work on the oldest G3's though. The brush rolls have been redesigned over the years.
I believe the Gsix was the first one to get the crush proof fill tube. The G5 was the first one with the Lexan fan. And I believe the Diamond Edition was the first one with the stiffer brush roll. And actually late revisions of the original Sentria got the polymer base. My Sentria is a 2010 model and has the polymer base.
There were more generations of Kirbys than the one stated by Bruce. The first was the Model R & C series from 1935 to c. 1942; then came the models 505-515 from 1945-1955; next were the 516-561 from 1956-1961 featuring the streamlined design; then the 562 & Sanitronic VII from 1962-1964 featuring the new sirroco color, after that the DS50, DS80 from 1965-1970 featuring the dual speeds; then the 1CR, 1CB, 2CB, & 3CB from 1970-1981; then the Heritages & Legends from 1981-1990; followed by the Generations.from 1990 to present.
In. Truth these are really both the third generation of Kirbies with variations. The first generation ran through 1969. The second or Classic generation began in 1970 and ran through the early 1990s ending with the Legend II. The third began with the G3. When they finally simplify a new way to attach the hose the can say they've progressed a generation, not just because they've changed the color.
Let’s not forget the VERY rare Pre-War Kirbys (C and R series). I’m not sure what the differences are/were, and it’ll be hard to know without having access to Said models. I do know the the original C had no headlight or Belt lifter. The 1C had a tubular shaped headlight hood and the 2C changed that to what was found on the 505-DS80. The R series I think had the same style headlight as 505-DS80. 505 was likely when the belt lifter was introduced, maybe a bit earlier, but I have no idea.
I don't know where you got that information from but they are the same. 3 CFM difference is marginal .CFM meters can have to a 15 CFM difference between the same model and brand meter. CFM is an important but not as working water lift
Performance Reviews I just tested them with the Sentria bag assembly to be accurate and I had the belt off the shaft it was not that much different but 0.5 difference in amps and that’s can make a 3 cfm difference water lift can be good it you can get it with lots of airflow as Dyson has demonstrated they do not deep clean well because they have good water lift but not good cfm.
Seems a lot like it cuts off before it's supposed to... you're still talking when it ends

I have an '84 Heritage that still works great!
You forgot that which started it all by James Kirby.. 1925 Vacuette Electric
Wasn't it stated he was referring these as the first generation with the drive units built into them? Which would be the G 3
I can't think of a more impractical machine than a Kirby.
Some of the Bissell products 😁

+Bruce Solomon I have to ask why you start at 1969? Kirby's were made far before that.

Ran through 1969 it said, not start
Emptier? You mean mini-em-tor
What will survive better in your opinion in commercial use a Kirby or a Sanitaire? I got a feeling a Kirby would.
+KG5Vacuums neither. Windsor /SEBO , lindhaus,NSS, Hoover commercial get yourself a bypass machine without a rubber belt.
KG5Vacuums a Kirby would.
The amps are also different even between the Avalir and the Sentria 1 wich gave the Avalir 3 more cfm.

There is no Centre of there it is a Kirby avalir 1
That's an incomplete sentence.
