I have to admit, it’s a very good vacuum. I have a Kirby Ultimate G that my in-laws bought us as a gift over 20 years ago. They bought the entire vacuum and shampoo kit and an extra long hose for each of their three children and themselves. I thought it was extravagant for a vacuum but I’m still using it today and never had to do a thing other than new bags and belts. One of the prongs gave out on my power cord which is how I ended up looking up Kirby online and finding these videos. I do recommend the vacuum although at their price, I cannot imagine why people would have multiples other than having them on each floor of their home. The idea of having every one ever made seems odd to me.

Just picked up the kirby avalir 2 for $20 from a pawnshop. Then at a local Vacuum Shop i picked up the 15 attachments with the caddy instead of a cloth bag for $250. All in all for $270 machine and components isn't bad and the Vacuum shop even threw in some kirby shampoo and a hepa bag for free. Steal of a deal and the Vacuum was recently serviced

Kirbys are great. I'm on #2. I loaned my first one out (at that point I didn't use it all that often), then sold it, and missed it, so I got another. I also have a Shark because they do great with going back and forth between hard floors and rugs, but my Kirby is awesome on the carpeted level of my house, and also for baseboards, walls, cleaning out the car, and all sorts of other things!

I used to work selling Kirbys in Australia. When I worked there back in the 1990s, they cost $3,000- per unit!!!!
I worked there for a year, then because of irreconcilable differences with my boss (I'm sure she hated me) I had to leave. Anyway, I applied for a job once, which promised to pay us $1,200 per week for each of the 5 weeks that we were in training. That sounded AMAZING, so I went to the interview, ONLY to find that it was a job selling Kirbys. This would have been early 2000s by now (maybe 2005) and at that stage, the newest Kirby was selling for $4,500- That's just fucking INSANE!!!!!
When I spent that year working for Kirby, I struggled constantly with the morality of deeply manipulating people with a vicious hard-sell that was skilfully tailored to be seen as a very soft-sell. Don't get me wrong - I believed in our product. I KNEW it was the best vacuum cleaner in the world, because I'd tested and compared it to the best cleaners that Australians had (even the very rich ones). I had NO problem with the product whatsoever! My problem was our asking price. Some of the meetings we had included motivational material made for american staff, where the unit price in america was revealed to be $600- It then occurred to me that our bosses and their distributers and their bosses, etc... had decided to put a 500% mark-up on the product, then sent us out there to sell something that shouldn't cost as much as it does.
I felt that my customers were still getting the BEST homecare system in the world, but I felt awful that they were being asked to pay so very much for it. Paying 500% more for it than they should. I found it very hard to continue doing my job after that. Well, that AND the knowledge that we were deeply and meaningfully fucking with the mind of each and every prospective customer. We manipulated them so very harshly and with such skilful subtlety and ease, that what we were doing felt wrong. It felt like we were tricking people into cheating themselves.
Anyway, my point here is, I made a LOT of money during my time selling $3,000- vacuum cleaners (I bet you you don't hear THAT sentence very often). I took a LOT of -Lannister Gold- money from the Kirby corporation. I know what it tastes like, I know what it sounds like, I know what it feels like, what it smells like and how it looks. Watching this video, I caught a whiff (through my smell-o-scope, THAT'S how!) of the scent of Kirby Money! I saw wads of Kirby Money in his pockets (with my X-Ray-O-Scope, THAT'S how!!) and I could taste the distinctive twang of the sharp tasting Kirby Money, too (don't ask how. Please?). My Kirby-Sense tells me that this man is being paid by Kirby to make these "Informational" videos...

Hi Razar. Thank you for this. I paid $3000 for my Kirby in 2012. I love it. Every January 1st I do a deep shampooing of my couches, stairs, mattresses and carpets. That has saved me thousands. Well, my mom owned a Kirby G5 that she bought from Kuwait and i aprove of this machine in every way possible, it has been working like it supposed to be for the last 26 years, i have never seen such a durable machine, built to last, its the first and last multifunction vaccum you will ever need. It comes at a hefty price, yet worth every single penny spent on it.
There are even more extentions that we have such as
    1) Carpet Vaccum Head
    2) Rotary vaccum Brush
    3) carpet shapooing head
    4) Sander/messager
    5) floor polishing head
    6) Came with a Waxing Stick
    7) Foaming / Spray Gun
    8) Horse Hair brush
    9) regular vaccum head with extention pipes and a handle
This machine is a beast and i would definitely reccomend for anyone who's willing to make a lifetime investment in a durable machine and an always professionally cleaned home.
For those who dont know .. the machine looks heavy but it has a drive gearbox that makes it easier to use than an average home vaccum.
Im sorry but this video does not showcase how amazing and how versatile this machine is in real life.

My Dyson didn’t even last 2 years but my Kirby is going on 8. 😂 I got it from the same type of home salesman who cleaned the dining room, 2 bedrooms, plus our couch, even though he was only supposed to clean only one room. My mom wanted it right away, but he could tell I didn’t want to pay the money. It was after the Kirby pulled up a disgusting amount of dog hair off of the couch (which I had just vacuumed that day) that I finally agreed and I have never regretted it. 👏👏👏

    • @jamescarrington5521
      @jamescarrington5521 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Sir, you're completely ignorant of just how great a vacuum cleaner the Kirby IS. You own a Dyson? I'm so sorry for you; it's a pile of garbage. How do I know? My neighbor had one, and he insisted I was wrong and that it cleans just as well as my kirby; so, I poured out half a box of salt onto my carpet (the salt represents sand, which is what wears carpet out when not properly and thoroughly removed) and I pushed it around deep into the carpet until it disappeared. I had him run his beloved poor quality, junky Dyson over it several times, stopping to empty the dust bin and then continuing this way until there was absolutely no more salt being picked up. Then I ran my Kirby over the same spot, but I only got two passes in before I had to stop and replace the hepa filter disk in the demo kit's dirt meter. This continued until I had pulled 16 salt-laden hepa disks before no more was picked up; we compared it to the pile of salt that he had made every time he dumped the Dyson's dirt bin; his Dyson had only recovered 1/3 of that salt; the Kirby pulled out the other 2/3 and in less time. So, if you think that your cherished Dyson is performing as well as the Kirby does, well....over the next 23 years, you'll have probably had to replace your carpet at LEAST twice, due to all of the wearing sand and grit that your wonderful Dyson....LEFT BEHIND. Kirbys last a lifetime; inferior, plastic department store brands like your Dyson, will NOT still be running in 25 years; the Kirby WILL, and I guarantee this. I sold my home last year after 23 years of numerous parties and heavy foot traffic on my carpet; the real estate agent had it noted that the carpet was "newer," and I had to correct him and told him how old the carpet actually was, and he couldn't believe it! Kirby is more than a vacuum cleaner, it is an insurance policy for protecting your carpet!
Also....you were quoted a price of $2,700.00???! I find this quite difficult to believe, sir; I can buy them brand new and complete for $950.00 ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. Then there's your salesman; yes, just like with every other industry, Kirby has no doubt had their share of bad and dishonest employees, but by you summarily dismissing this excellent machine and tossing the guy out simply because your male ego wouldn't allow you to ever be wrong about anything and you were terrified that you'd actually buy one, you just cheated yourself out of not only an excellent vacuum cleaner, but also all of that money you'll be spending on expensive redecorating bills and new carpet in a few years to replace your newer but completely WORN OUT carpet....carpet that would have stood the test of time...had it NOT been "maintained"....by an inferior plastic piece of JUNK. It's your loss. By the way, tell me....do you like your premium tools and that expensive lawn tractor sitting in your garage? Sure you do, so why doesn't your wife deserve to have some high-quality home maintenance equipment of her own, to make HER work a bit easier? The story you relayed here is an example of toxic masculinity...on full display.

I can remember my parents buying a Kirby in the 80's . My dad worked out that if you smashed up bricks and hoovered them up the Kirby would turn it to dust , he used the dust to make fancy bricks for Victorian house we lived in . I made a macanical sieve and sieved 200 barrow loads of soil for are garden . We then had it serviced by Kirby and they basically ruined it by fitting plastic bit instead of metal, didn't last long after that . Lesson learned BUY a Kirby don't let Kirby service it

I just got a Kirby at Goodwill for $15 and it works. But there is no ID plate on it. Nowhere does it say “Kirby“ on it. And of course the original Kirby bag is not on it. Just today, I uploaded a video showing my Kirby in action, called “I got a Kirby at Goodwill for $15.” If you can help identify what model it is, that would be appreciated. It looks like it’s about 40 or 50 years old.

While Kirby is a great vacuum, they are also too damn heavy and expensive. Elderly just cant handle a vacuum like this and move it easily around, especially up and down stairs. Makes me wonder why Kirby has not looked into using more carbon fiber parts or just making the whole damn vacuum out of carbon fiber. I know its expensive, but is it more expensive than what they already charge. Ive heard carbon fiber is suppose to be as strong as steel, so think about it Kirby and get your engineers to look at that.

All I remember is a stupid, arrogant, aggressive commission-only Kirby salesman randomly turning up at my gated property in the early 1990s. After a very quick look at the dreadful, dated and plasticky design, he told me it was extortionately expensive, then kept reducing the price. He lost all credibility of both himself and the shoddy product. I called security when he refused to leave, and was swiftly escorted off my property. Saying that, perhaps all of the above has now improved. Personally, I always buy Miele, as they work beautifully, and everything they make generally lasts for decades.

Kirby has always been sold door to door with high profit margins. Generally the salesman gets to keep everything he sells the vacuum for over its cost which used to be around $500. Probably around $700-$800 now. Since the company operates as an MLM company a lot of people are cashing big checks. Like most door to door vacuums the quality is excellent but will never come close to the asking price.
