Best investment I ever made I used to demo the G3 and the G4 was the 1st Kirby I owned from new . Bought from my old boss at KBA West-midlands Wolverhampton Uk . Loved demonstrating the G3. Was a big inspiration for me to start my own TH-cam channel. Thankyou kirby for 25 + yrs of quality reliability and performance and continued cleaning with my Kirby G4 that still out cleans and outlasts all these cheap plastic vacuums 👌👌👌
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I feel factory trained to service and rebuild Kirby vacuums now! Currently rebuilding a G5. Putting a Diamond Edition 2-speed power plant in it with a Diamond Edition cover shell - so it will be a 2-speed G5. Its getting a ton of new pars, as well, including all-new exterior trim, sand blasted, polished, buffed, etc. I can't wait!

This is a great video. Thank you for taking the time to post it. It didn't solve my problem as I'm looking for the reason why my G4 takes off like a bat out of hell and does wheelies!
The earlier "G" models had this issue. They installed a spring under the pivot slide block to help smoothen things out. If the spring is there, then you can adjust the transmission to reduce its force one way, but it puts more force towards the other direction when you do that. If adjusting it still doesn't help, then a transmission replacement is probably necessary. That sucks because they are one of the most expensive parts.
Only one question , surely a owners of a Avalir 2 using this video to service there Kirby themselves would maker there warranty null and void if the Kirby broke down
If a part is broken due to someone working on it themselves DIY, that part would not be covered under warranty since it isn't the factories fault. Otherwise, it should be covered. An experienced tech will probably know if a part is defective from the factory or worn form normal use.
Raise it all the way up, and lower it one notch at a time until you hear it clamp down to the carpet, and then lower it one more time. If it won't maintain contact with the carpet, then lower it down one more notch. If you have issues with the belt breaking or slipping at this setting, then you either need a new belt OR a softer brush roll, or both. Kirby makes four different brush rolls, Standard (Firm), Soft (medium), and Delicate (for hand-made rugs like Karastan), and Pet (reduces hair-wrap). Even new belts would slip on mine after we got new carpet, so I had to replace the brush roll with the "soft" brush roll, and I have not had any issues since then. The "soft" brush roll used to be the standard brush roll, from Generation 3 - Diamond Edition. When they came out with the Sentria, I think that is the model that the factory started putting the firmer brush roll on at the factory, and is still the standard brush roll they come with. Goodvac. Kirby main website, and other places sell the various brush rolls. Make sure the product description lists your model as compatible. I think G3 and G4 had a slightly different brush roll design.
@@Cleaning_Hero what would happen is that if it’s one notch too high, it can’t reach the carpet, but if it’s one notch too low, it burns up the belt (even with a good belt), and it can’t get good airflow

Your company is pretty cool for finding and posting all these videos. Props to you!
One thing I love is that 95% of this will still apply to everything G5 onwards since the Generation Series hasn't changed all that much.

Is there a similar video for servicing the classic through legend II machines and or dual sanitronic 80 and earlier?
Wow this is one old video
Is there a DVD version of this I can buy or USB?
Hey Kirby, what do I do if my carpet is a a weird height where if my brush roller is either too high or too low
Raise it all the way up, and lower it one notch at a time until you hear it clamp down to the carpet, and then lower it one more time. Someone answer that phone
What about Kirby Sentria vacuum cleaner?
Most of this will apply to a Sentria as well.
I used some of these tips for cleaning the inside of my Kirby Sentria.
