I am a HUGE fan of Red Rock West. A contemporary noir that effectively captures the atmosphere of vintage noir whilst successfully avoiding self parody.

RRW played in San Fransico for weeks at a single screen arts theater. Developed a strong following and is very rewatchable.

The older I get the more I appreciate Carlitos Way-it lacks the audacious comic book tone of Scarface(comparisons are unavoidable) but certain sequences are among DePalmas best

I think it's De Palma's most refined and world weary film. The human drama is perfect.

I loved Red Rock West. It's the second film by the Dahl Brothers and the first one is almost as great. It's Kill Me Again from 1989 with Val Kilmer playing a down and out private investigator hired to make femme Fatale, Joanne Whiley Kilmer, disappear from her abusive husband played by the great Michael Madsen. If you haven't seen it, you can watch it free on my Playlist TH-cam!th-cam.com/play/PL_IQmOxxq1q3Q5c-vJjnMSo3uEcirZDPq.html

I loved Clifford as a kid, but I can understand why it was baffling. It was a catch 22 in terms of making.
You have Martin Short playing a 10 year old kid, something that a lot of people couldn't wrap their head around.
But then...if you cast a real 10 year old kid...all the sudden the comedy becomes horrific and doesn't work.

Stephen Baldwin is truly the opposite of a good actor. I don't like to hate but he's terrible. How on earth did he get roles?
