Point of information @ImKibitz, there's an Alt recipe for Rocket Fuel that skips the Turbo Fuel stage. It takes fuel, nitrogen gas, coal and sulfur, yielding Rocket Fuel and Compacted Coal.
you should try making a logo on each office space or billboards of each of your sponsors as like a sponsor history and some implications that there is still advertising and will give the illusion of something to advertise too (ppl)
Yup, all the leached recipes are a bit better. do of course require an extra step and sulfur, though. Especially for things like Caterium, I can see leached being well worth it.
Meanwhile in my playthrough - analysis paralysis is setting in. I'm forcing myself to reorganise everything because its getting so out of hand, slowing down 'progress' for the sake of my sanity. Tear down the megabase and modularise it with a robust "main bus" system to link it all together. The game is a time vampire.
Just got to aluminum this week, and today I tore all of my machines, they where making project parts, for it. So I know your pain. I think almost all of us do who play this game.
I HIGHLY recommend researching hard drives for the Nitro Rocket Fuel. You completely bypass the Rocket fuel step and straight up make rocket fuel with sulfur, coal, fuel (regular), and nitrogen gas
Came here to say this too. The NRF alternate is one of, if not the, best alt recipe in the game (aside from any that remove screws, naturally). With that and a couple of the oil/fuel alts, I'm making an ~80GW fuel gen power plant off of a single crude oil node (something like 128 fully OC'd generators).
KIBS! If you convert your fuel generators to rocket, you can get sooo much power out of a single oil node, i think i have 600 generators on a single one, and could double that with some sloops, also its not stated well but rocket fuel is a gas so no pumps needed
I think the radio control unit recipes are the best balanced of all alts+basic productions, it's truly "what do you want to spend resources on, less quartz? less rubber? less aluminium? Choose for your factory"
the leeched metal recipes are slightly more efficient in terms of ore to ingots than the pure metal recipes, but are significantly more complex due to needing sulfuric acid. if you absolutely must maximize your ore output then they're your best option
I think the advantage of leached recipes are that they give the maximum return on raw ore. So if you want to get the most amount of ingots out of a particular mine, leaching is the way to do that.
@ImKibitz 20:50 If you want a minimalistic and cleanish way to carry a power line along tracks here is my method: - Take any form of pillar in Zoop mode. - Aim on the underside of the tracks and zoop upwards (you will end up with 1 pillar below the track and 1 clipping through the track) - delete the bottom pillar. - you can now place wall mounted power connectors on the underside of the remaining pillar (which is perfectly in line with the train track) - delete the remaining piece of the pillar. - profit.
Not sure if it's a new recipe, but there's an Aluminum Scrap alt recipe in a blender that takes bauxite, coal, sulfuric acid, and water and you instantly get aluminum scrap with excess water. The beautiful part is that the water can be made into a closed loop for the sulfuric acid. It's an equal amount of acid in and water out.
Doesn't that delete any powershards that were in it ? Cus I thought he always deleted the things to make sure he gets the shards back before placing a new one and boosting it again
He probably did it to save the portable miners. You would still need 3 to replace it and you'd get 2 back to your inventory, whereas if you delete it first you just need 1 from your inventory.
I like how kibitz makes factories with walkways and then uses a jetpack/hoverpack instead lol. Also, idea. Replace all the floors in your big factory with glass floors so you can see up and down. The downside is you can't have logistics floors, but I don't think you're the type to use them anyway.
Glass in this game can be a massive drain on computer resources, especially on mega builds. As cool as it would be we’d be watching in 15 fps if he did that.
13:40 Leached is a 3:2 ration, pure is a 2:1 ration, so leached trades a good amount of sulfur for a rather small amount of caterium over pure. (something like 5 sulfur for 1.5 caterium ingots)
2 questions about the trains. 1. Have you heard about the new train song about these satisfactory trains called "we want trains!" ? 2. Are you going to use any train modes? I think they have a few "steam" train modes with passenger coaches and etc. That away you can actually build a passenger train for no reason but cool choo choo. Lol
U have noooo idea how OP that rocket fuel is. I have 1 oil node putting out 180. And with the power of alternate recipes Turing that into heavy oil residue, then into diluted fuel, then straight into rocket fuel is giving me like 44000 megawats... THE EFFICIENCY!!!
There is an amazing alternate recipe for rocket fuel that skips turbo fuel, its in the blender. Takes sulphur, coal, fuel and nitrogen gas and makes rocket fuel and compacted coal. Combined with diluted fuel in the blender recipe you can run 130 fuel generators with one 300 pipe of cude oil.
I created my own pillar and had the same issue of moving the power through as I refuse to touch the ground - that is for peasants - I simply connect the cables through the foundation using a wall mount. It looks clean as long as you keep it in the same general area on the other side. Love the look of the rails going from one pillar to the next and as they are really high off the ground looks really cool. Love the content.
You’re building a train network, I’m building a massive drone fleet to move what I need directly to my main base. I have a turbo fuel plant just to feed them all. Sippies station is gonna look quite impressive.
13:44 It technically is better, just in terms of how much Caterium you get. Pure converts 2 Caterium Ore into 1 Caterium Ingot, while Leeched converts 9 Ore into 6 Ingots. That's 4.5/9 (Pure) vs. 6/9 (Leeched). Additionally, with Somersloops, Leeched is exponentially better and actually produces more Ingots than Ore, so you more than break even. Obviously, Leeched also uses Sulfuric Acid, which is complicated to produce (and uses Sulfur, a rare resource in and of itself), but who can say no to ~16% more Caterium?
You play tall. I play wide. It's fun to look at your factories, because you're stacked on top of yourself. I do everything on one floor, above and below it. It's fun to see the differences.
The Nitric Acid got me, I was so excited to upgrade my Turbo Fuel plant. There is an Alt that only uses Nitrogen Gas but it doesn't use Turbofuel so would require way more disassembly of my current system to integrate it
With the Leached Recipes, Leached Caterium is better than pure for Caterium usage (18 ore leached to 10 ingots vs 18 ore watered to 9 ingots). The Leached Iron Recipe is Better than the Pure for Iron Usage (280 ore leached to 560 Iron Ingots vs 280 ore watered to 520 Iron Ingots). However the leached Copper is not as efficient (90 ore leached to 220 ingots vs 90 ore watered to 225 ingots). All of these do require sulfur though. Also you should get the Radio Control Units made into your bag. You'll need them for Converters, Resource Wells, Drones, and Portals.
Here is a idea, make walkway on either side of the world train track, have a stair going down to the logistic level and have ladder on every other support pillar to the logistic level.
@imKibitz Thank you for your hard work on getting this videos out to us! There is an alt recipe for rocket fuel that just take regular fuel, sulfur and coal to make. Just using 600 c. oil per min and using diluted fuel you can make 2400 rocket fuel per min!
7:05 That general location has the highest elite mob density on the map. I have played through and collected everything multiple times and there is no other place in the game like it. A spot or two in the red jungle and swamp with like 4-5 elite spiders only comes close. There's multiple spots around that hard drive along with another drive close by, a little south, with elite's and a handful of regular mobs that ALL aggro if you get just a bit close or start firing and converge on you. One of the very few places that kinda make having a couple nukes a requirement unless you're smart and can pick them all off one at a time. If you wanna farm meats, do a low flyby in a circle around the pod, try to get them bunched up (which is hard because the mobs are too spazzy) and drop a nuke or two. Then just repeat later. It's definitely a bug and/or oversight by the devs. It's nuts. Good luck.
At 11:19, there was a hog really close to his hypertube cannon. Anyone know if it is possible to shove one of them (or a spider) into the cannon and watch them fly?
Ugh wrote a long comment to explain an alt recipe and youtube ate it. So short version. Get the alternate diluted fuel recipe for blenders, it takes out the packing component. you can turn 600 oil input into 2400 rocket fuel, which will produce 144000 power. You will turn 600 cruide in 8 refineries ocd into 800 heavy oil, 800 heavy oil in 8 blenders ocd into 1600 fuel, 1600 fuel in 8 blenders ocd into 2400 rocket fuel. This powers 240 ocd generators consuimg 10m3 each producing 600mw each.
I made that setup, except no shards. So for fun reference: 1200 crude oil into 40 refineries into 32 blenders into 32 blenders into 1152 fuel gens. Aka big building 🫣

I wonder what a run with that mod on would look like from the perspective of a veteran like you! Like instantly using pure refinery recipes and seeing how crazy things can get if you're completely unchained from using default recipes!
Nitro Rocket Fuel alternative recipe makes rocket fuel even easier. Skips the step of making turbo fuel, just nitrogen, coal, sulfur and fuel in blender. Ended up with a rocket fuel power plant running off a single overlocked oil node, making around 84,000 MW.
In the past month i was so done with myself. So i bought hoi4 for cheap. Satisfsctory. And my summer car. All because i was watching them for years and a lot of youtubers had negative iq. But kibitz motivated me to spend total of 600hours playing these games
He knows and said he didn't want to do it in a previous episode (I think the fuel power plant episode) due to it using some resources he wanted to use elsewhere... But don't trust my memory xD just look back at that episode where he gave his reasoning for using the current setup and recipe
Anyone notice that when you put somersloops in a machine, the first item to get manufactured is not multiplied? You always end up with an odd number of items.
