4:15 I thought he was going to cut the video, and then not address how many spiders he killed, then he would open his inventory and you would see that, like, half his inventory is just FILLED with spider remains.
In a roundabout way he kinda is right. You're transferring heat from burning coal into cold water to warm the water until the water becomes spicy enough it wants to stop being water. So, technically, you're cooling the burning coal.
Water evaporation during cooling is why coal power plants need a constant supply of water. Otherwise they would only need a one time injection that could be reused for the entire lifecycle of the plant. In a dry cooling system, the water is reused, but efficiency is very bad because you have to do heat exchange with the ambient air. This is why most coal power plants use wet recirculating cooling systems, which increase heat exchange efficiency but also lead to water loss from condensation.
The water used to for making steam in power plants is in a closed loop, you don't need a constant supply. It's for the evaporative cooling that the water supply is needed.
Fun fact, it was introduced extremely early on in the development cycle because one of the developers actually had Arachnophobia and they introduced it so he could continue working and bug testing it
a bunch of other games have started adding it. Wow is probably one of the most main stream games to do so since theirlast pack is chock full of spiders
The big and enormous spiders weren't scary enough so they made a new enormous spider. This one is radioactive, so you can't come too close. It will also spew toxic gas, just in case it wasn't already scary enough.
A single node of pure coal with the right setup can power 8 generators. Thank goodness Josh is more interested in growing his invasive species of conveyer belts than pollution.
6:49 *Missed Easter Egg.* Above the door as you exit the HUB there is a a _working_ (!) sign that shows: *0000 Days since last incident* If you die it resets the counter back to zero. If you get run over in multiplayer it doesn't. =P
@@eloniusz Yes, the counter DOES work. *I'm the one who discovered it* and posted about it on reddit. I verified it resets on death and doesn't reset when you get run over. Josh is *either dying a lot or playing with mods that broke it.* It even works in creative mode.
I'd like to imagine that Josh feels like a proud father. He watched Satisfactory grow, from the almost start of early access, to it being a fully fledged game. In reality, I know he can't wait to make the developers regret ever making this. So, on behalf, and using his words "I'm sorry in advance!" ❤❤❤
I am pretty sure that you have more items "stored" on your conveyor belts than in any possible amount of storage you have built. That is both terrifying and impressive.
Fun fact, the coal generators don't need water to cool down, but rather they work by boiling water and using convection to give rotation to turbines that generate electricity. Edit: not convection, @clems_first gave a detailed explanation of how it actually works below.
Ummm actually 🤓, convection has nothing (no major role anyway) to do with the functionning of a coal power plant. A coal power plant (just as nuclear power plants) work by boiling water and turning it into steam, compressing that steam, and push it towards a turbine, finally driving an electric generator. Convection is an effect that can be found as you boil water in your own kitchen for example. As the water nearer to the bottom heats up, it gets displaced up to the surface, leaving room for colder water to take its place. The 'cooking' happens too fast inside a coal power plant for convection to have a play in it, since water is pumped and (the steam) compressed the second it enters the cycle. While hot water is being swapped by cold water, this is happening due to pumps pushing the water forward. It has nothing to do with convection. For a couple more specifics, you can expect steam to reach upwards of 400°C at 250bar. This is as the steam reaches the turbine. After the steam passes through the turbine it has ~30°C and 50bar (not sure about that one). At the speeds the cycle happens, convection cannot happen. Convection can also be observed at the scale of weather and climate, but that is a lot more complex.
@@jackoridge6754they are also (if I remember correctly) over 1 Million times more efficient than coal or oil, per kg of fuel (I believe it's typically uranium, or is made from it)
Something that I’ve discovered in my gameplay is that it’s actually possible to basically ignore terrain restrictions. By pressing ‘h’ to put the blueprint in nudge mode, it ignores terrain. You can build the space elevator or anything else on a tiny little pillar that way. Alternatively, you can always build foundations, and then delete them afterwards.
Josh must've left his PC on overnight to get resources for the absolute mountain of Iron and Copper needed for all those pipes and conveyers. Looks like at least 100 hours of gameplay and it's been 2 weeks.
@@HorstliciousI'm not quite sure about that since josh has displayed unbelievable dedication towards his projects. As the flying part is only used to display his horrifying creations while all the building seems to be done in survival (while not recording the ui). Not sure though
I just searched GeoCities in Google and it changed the font from Arial to Comic Sans. it was utterly cursed. Edit - Further experimentation reveals that searching Comic Sans has the same effect, and searching Times New Roman changes the font to Times New Roman. Sadly, searching Wingdings has no effect, but perhaps that's for the best.
We need to go deeper. We need an ailurophobia mode that turns cats into dogs. Then we need a cynophobia mode that turns dogs into cute bunnies. Then we feel bad about killing cute animals so we need a leporiphobia mode that turns bunnies back into spiders.
Honestly, I prefer arachnophobia mode. Not because I dislike spiders, but because with the change to kittycats, you can hear them from farther, and identify where they are easier thanks to the creatures' audio also changing.
I am kinda off the same... If I have arachnaphobia mode on, hearing the meowing and whatnot creeps me out, and same does the skittling from the spiders. I ended up turning on peaceful mode and turned of creature sound 😅
... He didn't know why he had that terrible premonition as if the entire world was about to end... but if he'd realized, it wouldn't help his mood one bit.
@@lordhuntington5704I think it’s 200kW per meter of head lift (4MW for a single pump giving 20m), so it would have to be 375m tall for all the generator’s power to go into pipeline pumps. It _would_ be less if he hooked multiple generators up to the same pipe, but I sure as hell doubt that happened.
There is a method to the madness here. More people will watch his stuff if there are no spiders involved, but then those people are subjected to watching him punching out cats.
Quick maffs: A coal generator gives 75 MW, but needs 15 Coal/min and 45 kL of water per minute. A water extractor can give 120 kL water/min but needs 20 MW. With mk1 belts and miners and assuming no impure coal nodes, you get 60 coal/min for 5 MW. Then, for every 20m above the first 10m of the water extractor, you need another 4 MW for a pipeline pump. I’m gonna say each floor of this terror tower is at least 12m as a very conservative estimate. Unless that first coal gen was on the 20th floor or lower, there was absolutely no net power gain from setting up coal power. But since one mk1 pipe can transport 300 kL water/min, the next five or so coal plants would still be big gains. I wrote this because I hate having to waste any power on pipeline pumps in the early game, and here we are seeing Josh with more pumps than a 7/11.
Oh and also feeding leaves into biomass burners on mk1 belts. Not biomass, not solid biomass - LEAVES. Biomass Burner: 30 MW Takes: 80 leaves/min Mk1 Conveyor: 60 items/min YES THIS WILL WORK VERY SMOOTHLY (I mean, okay, actually probably not as annoying as it could be since biomass burners only burn what they need to in order to meet power demand.) How Josh doesn’t drive himself further insane with how he plays is a psychology thesis waiting to happen.
he is using flying mode and no power mode most likely but is still funny. In one episode he produced milions of coupons in awesome sink but this is just not possible without cheat engine and manual adjustment of numbers . With 15 milion points / s in 200h I've only managed something like 3K of coupons total
It's always fun to watch Josh do his thing, and one time I tried to binge all of his videos and I just couldn't do it. I appreciate what he does but I can only watch it in short bursts, it's too painful otherwise.

I couldn't care less about spiders in my games, but god I love me some cat faces floating around.

@@clems_first You're correct, my bad. I mixed up convection with the rising steam. Thanks for the correction.
Fun fact: womp womp

Man. Josh has a Lot of time on his hands to create some of the most funniest yet surprisingly effective builds. I just couldn't stop laughing
Since he a) flies and b) the hud does not display the building cost, hes probably in some kind of sandbox mode
There are advanced settings that allow you to build without resource costs and to make upgrades/research not cost materials either
@@HorstliciousI'm not quite sure about that since josh has displayed unbelievable dedication towards his projects. As the flying part is only used to display his horrifying creations while all the building seems to be done in survival (while not recording the ui). Not sure though
Pressing “T” hides the build menu so the cost isn’t visible.
Now im confused does he build in survival or not?

Oh... I both appreciate and hate arachnaphobia mode... I appreciate not seeing spiders, but poor kitty
There's another setting that removes the spiders entirely.

Lol 26:00 I think you might be using more power in pumps than your coal is generating! 😂. But it definitely is unique.
I tried to do the maths and I think you're right but I can't be f*ed to count these pumps lol.
@@alexsiemers7898 I didn't look up the numbers again but that sounds about right. And so does 375m.

Arachnophobia goes to another level, when you see that even such a psycho like Josh is afraid of spiders
If a person attacks cats, they are evil beyond actions, let alone words
There is a method to the madness here. More people will watch his stuff if there are no spiders involved, but then those people are subjected to watching him punching out cats.
I don't think Josh is afraid of spiders at all, I think he just had the arachnophobia mode turned on the for the sake of his viewers.
He goes to confront the spiders with the Xeno Zapper. Where other players don't even dare to go into caves with nukes. How much madness do you want?

22:44 coal generators don't use water to "cool it down", the coal boils the water and the steam turn the turbines for the generator 🤓
It technically cools Down the coal though.. hahaha.
Just add water to the coal to make steam smh 😌
josh has done irreversible damage to this game’s psyche
The "oooh nice somersault" got me lol 18:09
Biomass Burner: 30 MW
Takes: 80 leaves/min
Mk1 Conveyor: 60 items/min
YES THIS WILL WORK VERY SMOOTHLY (I mean, okay, actually probably not as annoying as it could be since biomass burners only burn what they need to in order to meet power demand.)
How Josh doesn’t drive himself further insane with how he plays is a psychology thesis waiting to happen.
he is using flying mode and no power mode most likely but is still funny. In one episode he produced milions of coupons in awesome sink but this is just not possible without cheat engine and manual adjustment of numbers . With 15 milion points / s in 200h I've only managed something like 3K of coupons total
Finally the great return to satisfactory
It's always fun to watch Josh do his thing, and one time I tried to binge all of his videos and I just couldn't do it. I appreciate what he does but I can only watch it in short bursts, it's too painful otherwise.
Man see Josh uploaded a new video. Video is Satisfactory gameplay. Man happy.
