The monthly art challenge that I host on my Patreon was themed around Ancient History so when I saw a box of gladiators at my local hobby store, I knew they’d work perfectly for this week’s build.
A few of my patrons have channels of their own! Check them out here:
Holy Cow Creates - • The Flood Story - Noah...
Light Box Life - • Turning Greek Myths in...
Seriously Nerdy - • Crafting a scene from ...
Boylei Idea - • Pyramids of Egypt
PKT Crafts - • Viking vs. Mech Warrio...
Craft and Quest - • The Archaeologist Dior...
P.S. If I had been able to use the song, "Now We Are Free", from the Gladiator soundtrack, I would have.

What would the other stuff be?
Smashing the rod for a spearhead is 10/10 clever. I look forward to seeing that guy in action!
Dude I absolutely LOVE the song "Now We Are Free" from Gladiator, listening to it on Spotify while watching this video.. 😍
Also, thank you for hosting the art challenge and supporting and mentoring smaller art TH-camrs like me. It's always a lot of fun to see what everyone else comes up with, and discovering awesome new TH-cam channels from everyone who participated.
Whoever made the Stargate diorama is my favourite ever person.
I'm not entirely proud of the sound I made when I saw it
What a cool build, and I love the way you inspire others to create. This is my favorite TH-cam channel! Thanks Boylei!
Viewing your projects is part of the Sunday morning norm. Your posted projects are always a treat! Thanks. See you next week.
"Are you not entertained?!?!"
- Boylei Gladiator Time
Amazing work!! You should make a Dune diorama🎉😊
The competition diorama of ancient history lesson with the dinosaurs is 10/10 LOL
Patrons did a fine job.
Incredible work, as always, Boylei! You never fail to impress!
70th like.
Lovely project. The skin painting looks really good❤
This is the type of Chanel that never disappoint you
Wow you are so good at this! I love seeing your progress over the months/years, and it's inspiring how you are always working to hone new skills and learn new things regarding to your craft. Thanks for the cool diorama Boylei.:)
Ah... Simple yet effective. Very good Mister Boylei.
THIS... IS... AESTHETICALLY PLEASING!!!
Its like a assassins creed odyssey diorama very cool plus ridley scotts gladiator is one of my all time favourite period movies
Citadel Reikland fleshshade over flat white. It was take several passes with the fleshshade but you also run it through an airbrush as well.
Your Patrons do some awesome work. And
so do you.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Mini Forge has some great skin painting tutorials, short and easy to follow
‘From looney toons to realistic’ 😂
I love how you’re showing us your process in finding new techniques. It’s incredibly satisfying as an artist to watch someone else try something new and absolutely nail it. Great work, as usual :)
These are so rad!! I love how you did the skin, all of those layers made it look fantastic!
Outstanding video, build and presentation.
I really like these gladiator dioramas. I think I will watch Ridley Scotts Gladiator tonight thanks to your inspiration! ❤
Ted Kuhn❤I Loved your Old School Diorama! Dinosaurs in a classroom, does that chalkboard say "Ancient History 10 Years Ago" 😮???😂 Love It!❤
I found your account a couple of days ago and i just cant stop watching! All your dioramas are so amazing and detailed i love it.
Incredible work, as always!
Could you also imagine a Dune diorama?
6:30 flash backs of that fly in my room
Always fun when Boylei works up something in 1/32 scale and from brands I recognize.
Really well done.
Can you do a studio tour for a 1 million subscriber special? Would love to see where you keep all your dioramas!
This makes me want to make my own diorama.
Great skin tones! Great work as usual.
Every time I see a boylei video in the evening, I get so happy. This is pure relaxation for me
The skin tones look great!
Absolutely Incredible as always.
👍👍👍
Looks awesome!
Awesome awesome awesome!!!
Awesome build, as always, brotha. Anyone else absolutely LOVE the Noah's Ark diorama at 9:13?
This came out amazing! And thank you for the fun crafting community! I’m really enjoying myself and am excited for your next challenge.
Glad to see you’re becoming more skilled using that airbrush!
Fantastic work! 👌💪👍
lovely diorama
That was good, thank you!
Very impressive diorama. Well done.
More greco-roman stuff would be sick! And I think it could weirdly fit with the western setting 😂
great job with an interesting subject 👍
As always, a superb video... impeccable talent on display! Also I gotta say, man... you just seem like a super neat guy... the way you include your Patreon members' work in your videos shows just how much you appreciate them. Top notch, brother!!!
Interesting approach to skin I am going to try this
another TOP QUALITEEEEE diorama. and a massive thumbs-up for showcasing other peoples' work - and there are some good 'uns there for SURE
I keep reminding myself to keep it simple, to make it look scaled back and focused on the right things. Darn hard but you always make it look really great!
Excellent work. Thank you for the content.
Great as ever 🙌🏻
Honestly love this, its just so good
Liquid latex is great as a masking device and it’s a lot cheaper than the name brand companies “Liquid Mask” products. All you need to do is apply your base coat and then using a fine brush you apply the latex to the areas you would like to mask. Then you can use a toothbrush dipped in warm water to take it off. It works great and liquid latex is really cheap. I bought a 500 ml bottle for $14 AU.
Thanks! you are good in both Sculpture and Storytelling. Love it.
Did you think about Sargon from Prince of Persia?
it is
1- Ancient
2- Has story to tell + your added imagination
3- Different background scenes
Absolutely love it ❤
Fantastic build!
I think you did a phenomenal job with the skin, well done!
Your content inspires me so much, you're one of my favorite artists.
Very Good and nice!
Very well done!
Fantastic work! You always find something new ))))
Nice job on the diorama looks fantastic also a enjoyment Sundays watching the great videos you do Thanks for sharing your work
Love it
Your figures have improved greatly.
You nailed the skin and metal man! I hope to see more dioramas in the future with this scale of models. Thanks for hosting the challenge, it was a blast!
Most Impressive
I was entertained. 👍
Cool as always. 👍
been going through your videos and am quite inspired. im working on a model railroad (HO Scale. planning stages) with my Dad and these videos are quite informative as to the process. i have a problem however. you use a lot of tools and materials that many beginners, myself included, dont have. i was wondering if you'd be able to do a sort of "on a budget" mini series; where you try and make something with minimal budget, including tools and paints (not that you'd buy the tools again. just include any tools you need in the budget). i think doing some projects within the resource and skill range of beginners would be helpful for those of us to get into the hobby.
One of my favorites was the Hades and Persephone Light Box Life one
Very cool.
No kidding. Literally listened to that tune about half an hour before uplaoad
Amazing work. It doesn't seem much of a leap to imagine a scene like this happening in some frontier city in Roman Germania.
That turned out awesome! You have a good eye for detail, something I need to work on lol
This is so cool
making that spear with the pliers is one of the most casually clever things I’ve seen on this channel
Class!
Patrons killed it on the designs
There's a book called "A voice in the wind" by Francine Rivers, and I think you might like it.
The build reminded me of it.
Magnifique
For your wild imaginary west series, could you make a hawk lifting a wagon into the air?
The wild imagery Roman times would be fun. I'd love to see a giant monster destroy the Colosseum.
Good job
I would love to see you create more Ancient Rome dioramas! I may not be a man but I think about the Roman Empire daily.
Whenever I am trying to recreate the texture of sand/snow in miniature, I almost always turn to a mixture of baking soda, a little bit of 50/50 water and PVA, and unsanded tile grout. Just mix and apply.
Do the vikingraid on the monastery of Lindisfarne!
You should do the lab from Breaking Bad. Keep up your great work 🖤🖤
very nicely done, those polyethylene figures aren't the easiest thing to deal with
After Thursday's video, I didn't realize how important the sounds of the crafts were.
Like the “after Christ” mention 👌🏽👌🏽
I have an idea for the next imaginary wild west video, would if you made a little cliff and waterfall with a little lake at the bottom with a monster drinking from it and a person watching the animal behind some rocks.
Neat.
So underrated
he called it good!
Too cool
Wow it looks really cool I thought I’d be cool if you could make a diorama of a zombie apocalypse or something
Oh ok when I saw the tag I thought you were making your own gladiators for the Wild Imaginary West which could be really interesting
