This week, I used a leftover gladiator miniature to craft a fun mythological battle diorama.
Go check out @vascotoys for some really fun foam work! Here’s his impact crater diorama: • Foam Carving a Dragon ...

That was the right choice with the rocks and griffin. It looks like the sun is creating a golden spotlight on the magnificent ruler of the rock spires. I love this!
I like how the colour scheme turned out. The griffin looks as though they belong there and the warrior looks as though he's the invader. Very, very nice.
You could make a “prequel” to the WIW with conquistadors encountering a feathered serpent kind of creature in Mexican jungle. Like a semi-sentient monster that might have been an inspiration for Quetzalcoatl.
I second this
That would be awesome!
Sometimes a thumbnail can be deceptive, in that there’s nothing in the video better than the thumbnail.
But not the case with Boylei. He starts with a stunning thumbnail…and then everything gets better from there!!
Love this so much!!
It reminds me of Geralt of Rivia fighting the griffin.
A Witcher 3 diorama would be sick!
Indeed
That sounds awesome!
Always nice to wake up on a Sunday morning to one of Boylei's videos
Edit: For those wondering, it's currently 8am for me as of writing this comment
It's 2:28 pm here in Belgium. 😊
💭 Unpopular opinion but I`m rooting for the Griffin to win this battle
Me too

I don’t think so
I’m with you
I think he’s got it judging the angle of the spear
Probably my favourite hobby youtuber!

My Sunday routine, kick back with a big glass of sweet tea, and watch some Boylei
I like the color scheme, it's like it's in it's natural habitat somehow. Hiding in it, ready to strike and spread it's wings to show it's Majestic glow and let the prey know it's done for.
The music used at the end was very nice to!!
It's a really dramatic piece and I think the change of terrain colour at the end was absolutely the right choice. Kudos!
The rocks did look gorgeous before the repaint, but I can totally see how they would've clashed with the griffin's delicate paint job. It turned out amazing though, you really outdid yourself with that plumage!
Great diorama, sir! Hope you had an enjoyable trip. See you next week.
Falling asleep to these builds each night for good a week now made me dream you made a scene of a medival castle with steampunk notes and a large asian lung dragon around a stone cliff base.
It sounds cool, but now I wanna know what videos made me think of it 😂
This is fascinating, Boylei! So much action packed into such a small space!
I hope that in addition to your Wild Imaginary West, that you will treat us to more Gladiator-themed projects in the near future. (By my count, you have 13 Gladiator figures left to work with.)
My like is in the 2.4Ks.
Can we all just acknowledge the serious dedication that this TH-camr has for his fan-base? Willingly knowing that he was going on a trip, he filmed the subsequent video AHEAD OF TIME! Add to that, the amazing work of this diorama, and that easily makes @Boylei Hobby Time, my most favourite mini painter EVER! Keep up the great work!
This is so Epic! We're all rooting for the griffin.:)
Very well done!! I think this is one of your more dramatic builds!! You are really teaching a master class in positioning and setting of dioramas!!
As someone with ADHD I find it hard to concentrate on videos for too long, constantly switching from one to another before they end. Your videos are the only ones I watch to the end, as I like them so much.
Damn the painting on this is stellar! You really managed to make the diorama atmospheric
Boylei is who I watch to learn about painting and sculpting, North of the Border is who I watch when I feel like I need dark humor.
Those wings are a triumph of shading.
Great call with the colour-scheme of the rocks. The gryphon would've got lost in the reddy-browns but really pops against the cooler grey and blue.
The art-style of the gryphon and the warrior remind me of the old 1963 Jason and the Argonauts movie. Great piece, Boylei.
With all the blue, it feels like we're in a crevasse or cavern, and the fight is happening in a beam of light shining down straight from above.
Waking up to "spring forward" daylight savings time... booooo.
Waking up to Boylei Hobby Time.... hooray!
Glad you went this route! Hoping for more in this theme
Another outstanding diorama, very well done.
There is no way that monster fit so perfectly there by accident, surely! You must have spent quite a lot of time getting that gap and those rocks placed just perfectly because it looks amazing!
This is the best paint job that I have seen for that griffon. The whole piece looks great.
The layout and overall feel of that rock formation?....chef's kiss! God bless, man. Awesome build!
Beautiful paint job on that Griffin!
Wonderfully done. The rock formation in particular.
I LOVE those rocks!
"It looks kind of like a realistic setting for a mythological battle to take place, which is what I was going for."
My sides just reached orbit.
The griffin came out so cool!
Great video as always. As of late I've been admiring your ability to make a relatively simple diorama extremely effective through great composition and posing.
I can't see a Griffin without thinking of the WC3 Gryphon Rider.. I've been planning to make SC2 sculpts (Zealot) but maybe I should think of a WC3 one also!
OH BOYLEI! IT'S HOBBY TIME!
(it looked better before the tan btw)
The final rock painting looks great, the griffin really pops without the colors clashing. Great choices!
At 6:51 that was just a pure comedy relatable moment. It pratically came out of nowhere from the peaceful scenery.
"I got a little carried away." 'Smacks lips' "Which often happens."
What a wonderful diorama. And I really like the blue rocks in the background with the griffin in front.
I LOVE EVERYTHING INCLUDING THIS
I wanna see a Boylei/Alternate History Hub crossover. Cody comes up with the scenario, Boylei builds it with minis and a diorama. 🤘
The diorama model building community on TH-cam is by the far the most welcoming, supportive and kind on the platform.
(I know this because ASMR used to be, years ago and now it's very competitive, katty and filled with clickbait)
Yet another awesome Boylei build! 👍
Always love to see and hear some new foam rock techniques
Gods damn, that paint scheme is amazing
So spectacular, looks like an epic oil painting brought into the third dimension. Love this sooooo much!
G'day to you again, Love the Griffin and what you did with the Gladiator, as always well done Mate!
I didn’t mind the tan rocks but they did look a little more…epic creature throne before it was added.
Regardless they look freaking awesome now!
I love the spikey, pointy look they have one the edges.
I hope your trip went well!
You have a wonderful mind and it takes a lot of effort to design this kind of design. I pray that your talent leads you to perfection.
When you were painting the Griffin I was curious to see how it would come out. In the end it was a Great Look!!!
This is such an amazing build as always, man! Thank you for the shoutout. I have learned so much about carving rocks from your channel. Carving diorama rocks is one of my favorite things to do!
I love all those monsters dioramas ❤
Great work as always
This has a distinctly Frazzetta feel to it. Nicely done
Hope you had a good and well deserved vacation. Your painting was fantastic. Great work on the feathers and rock structure.
Super cool - the paint job on that griffin is amazing.
Greetings & salutations, I just started following your page a few months ago. I find your work stimulating & sublime, I used to do diorama's back in the day, (I'm 65 yrs old) & recovering from stage 3 prostate cancer, I'm feeling the call of model building & just wanted t say, thank you. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Always such beautiful work. Your videos always makes me feel so peaceful, and lost in your story telling. Thank you so much Boylei, for everything. 😌
I really loved how the griffins wings turned out
Really enjoying these videos from the new 'Wild Imaginary Ancient World' series... maybe?
Make the Romagical Empire the canonical precursor to the wild imaginary west, a transition period between the two, of swordsmen using electric charging would be a cool concept and way to connect these two themes in your dioramas
I Really Love the Colors you use they are Magnificent and blend in with everything.
Always enjoy your creations. "The Griffin" is the name of an olde Englishe pub in the deeps of the countryside not far from where I live. My dad took me there when I was a boy on some wonderous summer evening. I always remember as we sat outside the pub sign which had a griffin painted on it looking fierce and mysterious in the warm light. I grew up believing in these strange myths and creatures thinking that they were out there in the deep woods. Like I always believed Arthur and his knights were out there somewhere too. 👍
one of the coolest stand alones you've done in a while, keep up the good work.
Easily my favorite model you have done
Always look forward to these videos each weekend.
It's one of my favourites, so far. Amazing
What a stunning build! I love the color scheme and the rocks.
Awesome! The paint job on the Griffin is amazing!
This is probably one of my favorite dioramas you’ve made!
I bought this same griffin mini recently! Thanks for some helpful painting tips!
Whoah! Those rocks look great!
the final version of the rocks turned out inspired - the way it carries through to the wings !! yeah
Oh, VERY cool! The rocks are a nicely dramatic background for this epic battle!
It looks good before and after the tan 🫡
I actually prefer how the base came out far more than just tan. All that extra colour does wonders.
Great shading on the gryfin figure! Looks briliant. Nice built as always! Have a great week 😊
bro's painting skills are improving with every build
I know I've said this before about your work but it is amazing. Your painting is excellent and your terrain design is spot on. Great work as always.
Man I’d love to see more horror themes in the IWW scene
I love ALL Boylei Hobby Time videos. They’re creative and very well done.
I love all of Boylei Hobby Time’s videos!
Masterful work Boylei, the Griffin looks amazing.
Insanely awesome and amazing, spectacular adventure piece.
👍👍👍
This came out great. Love the work on the rocks. The Griffin looks very cool too.👍🏼👍🏼
this one turned out really well!
I’m continually blown away that you manage to make a gorgeous diorama and video every week. Your mini painting progress is also impressive- your background in fine arts is definitely coming out to play!
The rocks look really good.
Beautiful griffon.
Very nice dynamic diorama. Love it (even without leds ;)
Funnily enough, I’m painting that same griffin miniature in my own time!! Mine is a blue Jay and a cougar tho lol. Very cool to see one of my fav diorama dudes painting the same miniature as me! It’s like a little piece of those immaculate Boylei Hobby Time vibes will be with me in my room, even when it’s not Sunday! :)
Another great video as usual. Your painting skills were already very good when you started this channel however they are out of this world at this point ( not to mention your production and editing skills- which are on another level as well). Thank you for again sharing your talents. Best hobby channel out there in my book.
Hope your trip is fun!
Outstanding video and presentation.
Found your channel recently and I've already subscribed! Videos are incredibly enjoyable and something I really like about your videos is that you have a relaxing vibe but not in the way that I'm bored. So I can watch your videos before I go to sleep or just during the day and both works, haven't found many channels that are versatile like that.
I admire how you continue to find new video ideas every week. It's really hard work! Thanks for what you do!
Always informative, interesting and amazing results!
Such talent and skill. You did it well 😍😍
WOW!! Very impressive...as usual!👍👍
