Amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
If there are no markings on this pistol other than the serial number then it is the type 20 varient that China sent to North Vietnam during the war. All of the normal markings were deleted so China could deny sending weapons to North Vietnam.
I will have to look into that, thanks for the info. Mine has all the usual markings other than the 66 near the date and serial number.
Ok wow checked out the M20 Tokarev variant and they actually had M20 on the top of the slide… I was today years old when I learned of this pistol. Still leaves me wondering why the one I have, a 1954 Type 54 does not have the 66 on it, perhaps because it was early production and they hadn’t started to include the 66? Or perhaps they still had some type 51 parts as they transferred over to the full type 54 model??? So many questions so few answers… thanks again for your input👍
A lot of people say the TT series of pistols are a ripoff of John Browning's designs. It may be fundamentally, but some of the TT's features are uniquely Soviet by nature......modular hammer assembly......captive clip to hold the takedown pin in place.......latches on the backside of the grips instead of screws......a curved backstrap to keep the slide from biting the shooter's hand. It's a sound design, and IMO one shouldn't be ashamed to copy Browning. Everyone knew he was the best.
Thanks for the comment, yes the TT series did borrow heavily from Browning… when something works no need to reinvent the wheel. I can appreciate the differences too.
