As a gun guy, I noticed you ditched the paper clip retaining pin and upgraded it with a real one. Cherry on top for me. One thing missing, rear sight aperture.

Next time, for removing rounds from a mag, remove the baseplate and then they will just drop out the bottom once you pull the spring/follower out. Then you won’t be pushing near the primer. Just an additional layer of safety.

@@razorkid456 there is a small primer at the back of the casing that explodes with heavy impact. pressing screwdriver into primer while bullet is aimed at your hand = very unfun time
that screwdriver has nowhere near enough force to detonate one of those rounds. he is not ramming the screwdriver into the back of the round. he is using it to pry the rounds loose.
I restored one a few years back, you made it look quite easy to take the barrel out haha, anyways for those that don’t know, you would need a press to take out the barrel. Anyways amazing work!
Century arms first imported these in 2014 and honestly this 1 was probably in working order. Had he put fresh rounds in that mag I bet it would have cycled. Might have been sticky on the first few rounds but after that I think it would have been fine
Very satisfying video. I will say that I highly recommend PB blaster penetrating oil for breaking loose rusted steel. It'll take rust off a chrome hitch. Best stuff out there. Far suppress wd40.
Yep, wondered how many days it soaked in salt water out of the box to simulate wear. The wood, the springs, and the firing pin were still excellent. Still informative, but not truly representative of ignored flood damage or a lake find.
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if this entire channel was just a deep state honeypot trying to lure gun enthusiasts so they can make a target list for future raids when they come to take our guns away.

With that type of magazine you don't have to push the cartridge down at the front and slide to the rear. You can just push straight down on top and they will go in easily. Great video!
You can do that with all AK mags. Though, that generation of PMag does not have reinforced feed lips. Therefore, the way he is doing it reduces the stress on those plastic parts. His way is just different, not wrong, and actually probably better for that particular magazine.
@@sungukyun2608 Mil Spec Yugo AKs don't have that notch in the safety. The notched safety is either put on for export, or put on by the importer (Century Arms, for example). They are there due to the high number of US ranges that make you have the action locked back during cease fires. The welded muzzle thread protector, Tapco trigger, and Magpul mag indicate that is a US import.
Dude did you not know that wd40 will make it pop out like that? I tried it on 7 of mine... psl, rpk, ak47/74 saiga223.. gave them a good spray down and now I can quick change barrels... sheeet dog I got my rpk heavy barrel in my pap92. Just spray some wd40 on the trunion and they'll pop right out.

You can actually get a clue as to whether to expect a round in the chamber by looking through the cocking handle channel. If the hammer it's forward, it's unlikely a round is in the chamber. Because when the hammer comes forward, the round in the chamber is fired, bolt comes back and re-cocks the hammer. Now the hammer is back (where you can't see it) until the trigger is pulled again. The only way to have a live round in the chamber with an uncocked hammer is if the round was a misfire.
@@smashergrilla954 honestly though, if you just need to know a safe way to check would be to use a camera to film down the barrel. its the same as looking without the risk of applying a Christmas wallpaper
I know this is an older video but a tip for loading rifle mags such as the ak or AR mags, all you have to do is push one on top of the other. You don’t have to start from the front then slide it back like most pistol magazines. Great stuff 👍🏻
Dayum! And the barrel just popped off with some WD-40! You must have that grizzly bear strength.. I have to use a shop press to get it out (and yes, I am being Facetious... I did see it was pressed off presumably off camera)... Still a hell of a restore... great job!

I would love to know a little bit of history about each of the guns you restore in your videos. Where did you get it from? Why is it in such bad shape? etc.
Doesn’t mention it because it’s pretty clear he soaks a short while in a small container filled with a corrosive chemical. If this were for instance found after 10 years discarded in the ocean the firing pin and springs wouldn’t still be in perfect condition and barrel slid right out and arm strap /magazine is covered in same yellow rust from the body of the gun (meaning smal container)
Files cut in one direction, so you push hard and pull lightly without touching what you're working on, this will make your work faster and will make files last much longer

I believe only zastava AKs have that feature and they also have last round bolt hold open with their specific magazines.

been watching your restoration videos a long time gj again

Naw bro easiest way to check if there is a round in the chamber is just look straight down the barrel

I would love to know a little bit of history about each of the guns you restore in your videos. Where did you get it from? Why is it in such bad shape? etc.
Doesn’t mention it because it’s pretty clear he soaks a short while in a small container filled with a corrosive chemical. If this were for instance found after 10 years discarded in the ocean the firing pin and springs wouldn’t still be in perfect condition and barrel slid right out and arm strap /magazine is covered in same yellow rust from the body of the gun (meaning smal container)
