    This is a good video on why you don't cut wires and do wiring

    If you have EFI live, you can turn off the intake air heater and that will eliminate your code. If you don't have it you can wire in a light socket for something like a turn signal bulb, an 1157 maybe, the bulb shows voltage being used so it wont throw a code. I've had the light bulb on my 2002 DM for about 5 years, when the truck calls for the heater to come on the bulb lights up and goes out when the call is done. I live in Indiana and my truck starts and runs just fine without the heater. Also you're humvee is looking Phenomonal. As far as your 2x4's for the hood spacers go, you could replace them with some pieces of 2x3 or 2x4 steel tubing that is capped on both ends and drilled for your bolts.

      Very true, I need EFI live asap, was going to get anyway but now it’s definitely needed. I’m having a subscriber build me some blocks. They should be in sometime soon I know I know the wood blocks are going away!😆

    With the grounding issue you might want to check and see who makes a grounding "spider" or you could make one. One goes to frame, one to engine block, one to alternator, one to body, one to the dash and anything else you can think needs a ground. Real heavy gauge wire to chassis, engine block and starter. That ground block you show is also a sensor for the ammeter. It should not be affected by paint as long as you clean the heavy bolt contacts. The project is looking real sweet! Does GM make a service manual for the Dura max engine? They should since it’s offered as a crate engine. It’s manual should cover everything about the harness and compukers (pun intended, don’t like electronics ruling the engine).

    Any time i ever made a heavy duty battery cable, whether its ground or hot, you crimp a copper connector with a center punch, and solder it with a propane torch. Never had a problem ever.

    • @SplitBuilds
      @SplitBuilds  ปีที่แล้ว

    If you are doing a Duramax swap why going with those heavy and big batteries occupying all the pace and putting pressure on the wires and leaving no room for anything, normal side pole batteries from a Chevy Silverado would have worked just fine, just saying, nice build by the way.

    Man, you have a great videos. I pretty much watched them all… I have a question. My wait light does not come on when I try to start…. i’ve changed the wait light out…. but it starts sometimes. Thanks!!

    • @SplitBuilds
      @SplitBuilds  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the wait light is not coming on, it could be, the light bulb itself, or something to do with the smart box. Your saying the Humvee only starts sometime?

    • @tduncan9938
      @tduncan9938 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since I’ve had it in six months, I’ve started it 4-5 times but this time the motor just turned over and it would not start but wait light has never came on, and I change the light out too

    Build coming along 💪 Did you put any rubber or anything between rock sliders and the body? To prevent rust. Or it's not a concern?

    • @SplitBuilds
      @SplitBuilds  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, humvee is aluminum, won’t rust too fast, but both sides are painted. Shouldn’t be a problem
