    Awesome, the color choices are perfect. Good to see bras32 joining... He is a heavy lifter, I remember his comment when putting the spare tire carrier on the other HUMVEE... you guys indeed are close friends.

    Looking good. Like I mentioned early on the build, having to use drilled out 3" chevy lift blocks, I also mentioned I got 3" square steel tubing that was 1/8' to 3/16' thick walled and drilled holes through them on my drill press and used those to mount the hood. The holes will be offset on the block. I rhino coated them and used longer grade 8 bolts to mount them in place. The wood blocks are fine for the fuel tank spacers but be sure to coat them and put rubber insulation on the side against the tank. Also, remember to put the drive shaft shield back in place on the fuel tank so if the u-joint on the drive shaft fails and it hits the fuel tank, it will not damage it. You can put shorter bolts on your windshield hinges, but I recommend the actual hinge pins with the lanyard keeper clip. You'll need 5 of them and can get them from Mac Motors, Kascar or The Hummer Parts Guy. If you decide to continue doing major Humvee rebuilds, you might want to consider buying a military aerospace cherry rivet hydraulic riveter and rivnut setter. Best tool investment I made for putting panels and parts on these trucks. I found my setup on Ebay. Good luck and looking forward to seeing the finished truck.

    MARSHALL!!! Cut a hockey puck as close to square as you can and use that for a hood spacer.. just a thought. Good luck Brother.

    Look up Alro plastics company. They are also Alro metals. Hard plastic your looking for (spacers) is material called Delron. It comes black in color and in blocks so they will cut to your dimensions. Easy to drill thru.

    Awesome channel!! Can you use a set of 3 inch lift aluminum blocks(used between axles/leaf springs) for the hood spacers? The wood spacers look fine though.

  • @robmacgregor915
    @robmacgregor915 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Use a hockey puck.. they are about .99 cents and strong with a bit (minimal) flex. You just have to cut the round edges off to make them square. People have been using them for lift spacers for years.

    • @SplitBuilds
      @SplitBuilds  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used hockey pucks for the other lift on my other humvee, but it’s to narrow on the spacer needs to be about 4 inches wide hockey pucks just not wide enough.

    spacers, stack strips of tire side wall. rubber cement them together... like strip, rubber cement, strip, rubber cement and repeat until its as big as you need
