    Sennheiser Momentum On Ear headphones review. These headphones are closed back so they should isolate against outside noise and offer some kind of privacy by not leaking sound, furthermore, they have a very low impedance of 18 Ohm and a sensitivity which is extremely high at 112dB/1Vrms. What all of this means is that they are engineered to be used with portable music players such as iPod, iPad, iPhone or other brand smartphones or mp3-players.
    We're also going to be comparing the Sennheiser Momentum On Ear to Momentum Over ear, and see which is the better bargain, so stay tuned for this indepth review. The headphones review is structured in 8 parts, and in the commment section you will find links to each individual part.
    1. We talk about the headphones specifications
    2. Then next up is the build quality of the Sennheiser Momentum On Ear version
    3. Then we get an overview of the features and accessories, such as the pouch, case and two cables, one of which has a microphone and control talk remote.
    4. Sound quality of headphones are also important and in this segment I talk about the sound quality of the Momentum On Ear headphones.
    5. Since these are portable headphones, it's essential that they offer some kind of isolation, hence we do an isolation test to see how well they isolate against ambient noise.
    6. After that we'll have a look at how much privacy they give you at various volume levels. We measure the sound leaks of the headphones.
    7. It's always good to have a look at measurements, and better yet, look at measurements in relation to other headphones, so in this segment we analyze the frequency response of the Sennheiser Momentum On ear and compare them with both Sennheiser Momentum On Ear and Sennheiser HD 600 which are open headphones.
    8. Lastly we'll look at the summary and conclusion.
    Please share, like and subscribe if this helped you and you'd like to see more!

      I disliked because of the unnecessary racism against Asian people. (And i don't care if you are Asian yourself, it's still offending. I'm not Asian myself, i just dislike any kind of racism.)

    • @Headphoneaddict
      @Headphoneaddict  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I respect that, but who, what, where? What was racist in your opinion? Personally I don't consider anything in this video remotely racist, but with the high level of political correctness in today's society I'm not surprised that someone would be more sensitive than me on the topic. My definition of what racism is is covered in the dictionary, and I don't see how I did or implied any of those things. dictionary.reference.com/browse/racism

    • @ZeroxTechnic
      @ZeroxTechnic 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HeadphoneAddictCOM I am talked about your "Asian" accent. Could be offensive to some people, at is is a actual problem, and only non-asians find it funny = racism.
      01:55
      02:36
      And just a friendly tip. Even if that was not an intended asian accent, try not and make those sounds. It completely rips away the professionalism of the video :/

    • @Headphoneaddict
      @Headphoneaddict  10 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      ***** I respect your opinion but respectfully have to disagree. I'm not after picking any fights, but being perceived as offensive to someone does not equal racism in my book. All languages have different accents, my accent is Norwegian as that's my mother tongue, Italians have their accents, so on so forth. Using stereotypes to do comedy is not racism imo, and nothing in the dictionary implies that it is.
      I understand that some people can find me offensive and unprofessional, but the thing is that this is my personality: I joke around a lot, make silly voices and are far from professional. At the same time, I'm transparent, honest, open minded and only talk about things I believe to be true. You just have to take this for what it is. A silly guy making videos about his enthusiasm for head-fi related gear. It's not professional, it even says so on my about page on the channel (and has said so since the beginning). I'm doing this for fun and to learn about videos, meet like minded people and just have fun. I've also tried making money off of it, but it hasn't worked out well. Maybe because I'm not professional enough. My silly ways is what differentiates me from the other reviewers, and I'm sure a lot of people can be put off by it, but then again, I believe the content to be honest and good.
      So, I'm sorry if you or anyone is offended by my actions, but if I were to adjust so as not to offend anyone that might watch these videos I would have to be pretty generic and political correct, which is not my style at all. I'll try to expand on the repertoire of silly voices: How about a hillbilly Texan? LOL!

    • @Headphoneaddict

      Thanks again, Voleark! :) Should make a habit of shooting more outdoors. :) If I manage to make the channel profitable, I want to invest in a high quality tripod with slide cam like this; www.definitionmagazine.com/storage/Cam-Slide.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1278079741363 - that'll enable me to do extremely good looking shots. Learning a lot about video creation right now, hehe!
      Honestly, I was a bit unfair towards the Momentum Over Ears in the review, as I let my personal preferences and enthusiasm over the ATH-M50x's become a little dominant at the end. Will be doing a video on several closed back headphones and give pros and cons for each pair of cans.
      I've mostly been running both Momentum On Ear and Over Ear them through (1) Objective2 with ODAC, (2) Violectric HPA V200 w/24/96 DAC card, (3) HTC One and (4) iPad Mini 1st gen. (5) Mytek 192 STEREO DSD DAC. However, if not specifically stated all impressions are based on Objective2.

  • @henrik12345

    Hi,
    Are you measuring your frequency response on that cardboard box with your measurement microphone?
    Furthermore, if you have a measurement microphone that has a flat frequency response, then you will have to take the fletcher-munson curve (FMC) into consideration. When producing a pair of neutral headphones (or speakers in general) you want the user to experience the same level of audio level, no matter if it is 40Hz or 10kHz. This means that the frequency response of the speakers needs to compensate for the FMC. So where the curve is low, the speaker needs to compensate for that. This is of course individual, no human ears is alike, but in general its a good rule of thumb.
    To sum it up, a flat frequency response measured on a pair of headphones with a flat microphone can be experienced by the user as a very nonlinear sound.
    Just a few thoughts
    (FMC curve link: i.stack.imgur.com/6JUxQ.png)

    Ow damn it, i really wish there wasn't such a big difference in the 2 models. I really want the on ear version, i need portability and i figure they would much better for such (are they?), but i can't shake the feeling that the over years are better and i may regret my choice.
    I mostly listen to what people would call modern music but i do like my dose of jazz and classical, what are you toughs, what would be better (note, portability is an important aspect).

      nice. are u planing to do some ,,best for money headphone'' reviews?

    • @Headphoneaddict
      @Headphoneaddict  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Archy Gogitidze Yes, I've got BIG plans for this channel, such as _top five portable headphones_, _top five bass head cans_, _top five neutral headphones below $500_ etc.
      However, there is a but, and that's a *BIG BUT*. I will have to get some sponsors on board that are willing to lend me what I'd like to review, or make the channel profitable enough to sustain itself. If this won't happen, I'm afraid I can't execute all these plans I have.
      If I were rich, I would have no problem doing this for fun, unfortunately, I'm not, I run a sole proprietorship (super small business) and do not make a good living at the time being, even though I could have if I went and got a normal job (as I've got education with good grades etc).
      This channel is a part of my living now, and its running at a big loss at the time being, but I've got other projects that makes a profit which supports it while I try to make it work out. If the channel ends up being sustainable I've got quite a bit of plans, not only for the channel, but also spin offs.
      I will not sell out to make a profit like some youtubers do. My target here is to be informative, transparent, honest and make a profit while doing it. Also, I would not have done this, if it was not for my enthusiasm over headphones, audio in general, and content creation.
      Also got quite a few ideas on how to make money on this, but still keep it honest, right now I'm trying out the Amazon Associates program, and if a small percentage of the subscribers would come here and click the link each time they wanted to buy something from Amazon (no matter what), I think it would be enough.
      *If I'm unable to make the channel sustainable, **_I will still create videos_**, but not at the same rate I'm doing now, and with far less gear than I hope to.*

    Sorry, but the video is way too slow. I want my review / comparison to be 5 min. long and as quick as possible. You also review AND compare them, and i just wanted the comparison. it would be way better to do 2 videos instead of one huge video. After watching this 20 min video, i still have no idea to get the over ear or the over ear. But good luck in the future.

    • @Headphoneaddict
      @Headphoneaddict  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry about that. At the end of the video there's a quick summary. But bottom line is that if you want any of the two, the over ear version is the better option. Will not have 20 minute videos going forward. 10 minutes maximum and measurements will be placed into separate videos.

      Hi, the camera very good indeed, and cheap as well if you find one used, as it is discontinued. Since you're doing videos I'll give you the details of my setup, as I have worked very hard to research this solution. It is a very high price/performance setup.
      The camera is a Panasonic GH2 with the stock lens so not really expensive. As I said, it can be had for very little used.
      The newer GH3 has a little more features and would be my next camera when this says goodbye. I'm only using stock firmware for the GH2, but you can hack it with open source firmware which a lot of movie creators do (these have been used for professional movies and documentaries). If hacked it can record at even higher bitrates. However, as I only use it for TH-cam, I don't care to. The GH2 also has continuous auto focus during video recording, which is a nice feature, but I like to have control of the focus, so I leave it at manual.
      The audio in this video is recorded with Zoom H4N audio recorder with a cheap $10-15 USD pop filter from Ebay. Audio and video is synced in Sony Vegas Pro after. For screencapture I use Camtasia, but an open source alternative is Camstudio.
      I've just invested in a very good used tripod, a Vanguard Auctus 283aT and a Konova K2 47" slider. This will give you the ability to do EXTREMELY professional sliding shots (sliding towards products etc). Also got a cheap $30 trolly that enables you to do 360 shots around products on a level ground.
      Now that I've soon got everything I need to do professional looking videos with good audio, I only need to learn how to best use the equipment to make it interesting, artful and entertaining.
      If I can keep the total cost of the audio/video setup around USD $1500, then everything is golden. It's not a lot for making high quality videos. Key is buying used and getting the right gear for the job. The GH2, Zoom H4N and K2 slider are pretty much top performers for the money, so you can do a lot with fairly little monies.
      Hope this inspires you to think about working on your A/V quality as well. If on a budget, I'd put priority on audio quality first, and the Zoom H4N is not expensive, but get a pop filter or maybe even two.

      *Audio quality in videos again*: In your videos, you have an audible hiss. If you remove this in Audacity, you'll notice that your voice loses a lot of its frequencies, hence making it sound unnatural. I had this hissing/noise problem in the past too.
      What you'll find is that if you get a H4N and a cheap boom arm and pop filter from ebay, you'll be able to get the mic closer to your mouth and lower the recording volume, and in essence get rid of the noise, especially when recording in 24 bit. Also, the pop filter will remove the hard P's when you have the mic close.
      One thing I'll do is to blend the left and right channels equally together, as the H4N is a stereo mic, and when getting off axis it sounds weird, especially in headphones.
      The H4N is great. You can hook it up through USB and use it as a mic on your computer, use it as a storage device, or you can record to SD card using the power adapter or batteries. You can also connect external mics etc. Monitor with headphones +++ It's just awesome. I absolutely love it!

      +TheSnowBall Sorry to read that you didn't see a comparison between them in this video, and thanks for your honesty. I did measure both headphone's noise isolation, I did show the frequency response of both and used that to tell how they sound different and I also talk about the accessories of both cans and about the comfort of both Momentums and conclude that I feel the over ear is the better buy.
