- Oakley had to have emergency sugery for bloat last night. . The next two vlogs actually happened before this. . but since I made a bunch of posts last night, I wanted to be sure to get this up.

You are amazing parents Jess and Jamie, and Shelby and Memphis are amazing sisters. This video along with every other proves how strong and loyal your family is, and that is just what will keep you all happily together for many more years to come. I personally thank you as I'm sure every other pawdience member does for taking such great care of Oakley after her difficult night. Let anyone watch this and still say animals (the dogs) don't have feelings and emotions- the other girls clearly were worried about their sister. You all rest up and recover. We'll all be here praying for Oakley. Best wishes fluffy girl! I want you to heal up so you can have fun camping in 2 weeks!

I've never heard of a bloat kit, but sounds like something to have on hand just in case. Glad you and your vet were able to help her before it turned fatal. I hope Oakley is feeling better soon.
Yeah we bought it for our first aid kit. I am glad we didn't have to try and use it, but we were ready if we needed too!

My family is keeping you all in our prayers. Oakley is just as lucky to have you in he r life as you are to have her in yours. It was meant to be you to find her and take her in, very few people would go to this much "trouble" to save a dog. Very few people could afford it. Youre all blessed to have each other!
These 3 girls are deeply deeply bonded with each other and with Mom & Dad; in a way we cannot grasp. They intuitively know Oakley has been sick, still a little sick. They want to comfort you & Jamie. And they crave the love 💘 you undoubtedly give them. Sweet, sweet Babies.

I'm so happy Oakley is getting well. Emergency vet visits are the absolute worst! Big kisses to all the dogs and hugs to all the humans.

Seeing her eating is great!!! You all do an amazing job recognizing bloat and getting Oakley into the Vet ASAP. I know of another dog who had the surgery and after about a week, they had trouble keeping her quiet. Since the care you provide is amazing, I am looking forward to seeing Oakley digging holes at the campground while you try to make her stop, Oakley will win.
We are hoping for the same thing. I have talked with a lot of people who have had it done and have said the same thing. So we are hoping for an epic recovery!

I'm so glad to hear that Oakley is okay. I completely freaked out when I saw the title.
My dog also had to have emergency surgery today. She had a huge cyst develop on one of her ovaries that started negatively affecting her kidney. She's got the same drained face and shaved belly as Oakley does. I'm glad both girls are okay and here's to a speedy recovery for us both!

Thank you so much for posting this vlog today and keeping us updated. I am so thrilled to hear that she is home resting with the family and was able to eat the next morning. I am always been that keeping them around the dogs they are used to being around is what is best when something has happened. Why this happens again and again....
She stresses easily and she's a bit older than the others. Senior dogs are prone to all sorts of health issues. Oakleys weak spot seems to be her digestive system. That's about it
Once a dog bloats there is a high chance the dog will bloat again. Sadly
When dogs get older just like with people more things can happen or the risk of things happening go up. It's different for each dog.
Sadly some dogs are just predisposed to it :s
Deep chested breeds are prone to Bloat. For those who want to educate themselves on the subject, Google Bloat in dogs. Read the one from globalspan. It tells you everything. I have GSDs and they are deep chested.
Love you guys, and the dogs. It is so obvious how much you love them and the amazing care you give your dogs.

You have Beautiful Dogs, I would Love to have a Husky, but I Rent an Apartment and that will not be Fair to the Dog ,Big dogs Deserve a House with a Nice YARD , they Deserve to Run Free and Protected by well Fenced yard ,I have a small Shi Tzu, named Princess , I have her since the same day she was Born ,Her mother died giving Birth and I thank God I was able to Save Her ,Princess is like FAMILY to ME

a neighbor of ours in our apartment has a husky. she's pretty mellow

i live in an apartment and have a husky. shes mellow, and we do have a large outdoor space that we utilize. not fenced so we have a nice 200 foot tie out lead attached to our deck... she will play outside with us for hours. we walk her, spend time with her, shes a good girl. and. shes not a barker, so no problems there!
+tigerise 11 there's a public park within walking distance. it's quite nice. I saw him walking her one evening there
I'm a very suspicious that your Dog got sick after going to the vets? I think there playing God with your Dog not to mention the cost.
The vet saved the dog.
husky dogs bloat easy. and Oakley eats way too fast anyway. not the vets fault.
Steven, it has nothing to do with their Vet, Oakley is a nervous dog when people touch her. She always has, and has to actually "allow" people to touch her. It upsets her when it's not welcome. She's had the bloat before, once they get it the chances go up with each occurrence. The best thing at this point for that vet to do is tack her. That vet your wondering if is playing God, saved Oakleys life as well as the quick thinking of Jess and Jamie.
I think it might be the antibiotics... i remember watching a video where she was taking antibiotics and she bloated once before...=/ then again she is prone to bloat so it might be unrelated but im really really glad she is well
Stephen, you need to get educated about a situation before you make stupid assumptions.

So sorry to hear this happened again. I am praying for her full recovery. I am so very grateful that she is in the care of two people who not only love her but who know what to look for and what to do about it. Please keep us updated. Love that girl so much.

i'm glad the surgery went well and she's home and resting. i hope she heals up quick and that what they did to her stomach helps. i know what it is like to stay up all night with a sick furbaby and it is not fun at all. sending positive thoughts your way and i hope she continues to do well.

Omg! My heart was in my mouth when I read the title. Thank all the gods that you knew what to do and that Oakely pulled through! I hope you're able to go on that camping trip you talked about... We will take it day by day. We did cancel this weekend's trip. But if the vet gives us the Okay to go. . we might go!
