Sometimes you have to make changes in your house to accommodate your dogs. Okay, maybe not everyone cares to do this, but you guys know by now that WE consider our dogs to be as much a part of our family as everyone else, so when we see they have having hard times with this, we make changes to see how we can make their lives easier and better. Sometimes it's just small things, like an extra rug for traction, or a new dish that is easier to drink out of, but sometimes it's bigger things, like modifying a kennel door, or changing our steps! We love our dogs, and we will do whatever we can to make their lives easier.

The things you do for your dogs, is amazing. I love you guys so much, and all you do for your dogs! I actually got a puppy, last Christmas, and I named him Shiloh, after your dog. I just admire how much you care for each one of your dogs like there family!

Well you guys are amazing! Really it is touching how far you will go for those puppies. Warms my heart. A+ dog care. I love your new cabinet! Getting things on sale and discounted is fun. Retail is for suckers. I came across a doggie food container on Groupon. Not sure what dimensions you need but check it out. It is very similar to what you have although it comes with a scoop and a top storage space for treats. Essentially Oakley wouldn’t be able to get into it. But I love it when she does. Smart girl! Love to all.

It is only natural to do all you can to make things better for your children and Oakley, Shelby and Memphis are your children. Miss Oakley is very special so anything that makes her life better and easier is a good thing to do. Very good idea to remove the door to her kennel. Very nice and pretty new cabinet. Awesome job on the steps, Jaime. Now I want to go look at past videos of Oakley going up and down the steps as I do believe I had noticed her jumping past the last step. Continue to improve every day and rest well, sweet and beautiful Miss Oakley. You are so loved!!

I love that you and Jamie made all those changes to help Oakley. I have night lights in every room and going down the stairs, so my older dog can see ok in the dark. Oh, and Nature's Miracle is a must have if you have pets! Feel better, Oakley!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to make things easier for our furbabies. As Torre got older, she had trouble getting up and down from our bed. I bought those stairs they sell for dogs, but Torre refused to use them because she thought they were too narrow. We gave those away to a friend and paid my neighbor to build a new set of carpeted steps that were wider so Torre felt comfortable using them going up and down from our bed. When she got the cancer, we paid the same neighbor to build a ramp for her to use to go out into the yard for potty so she wouldn't have to climb up and down the two steps. We'd go without before our babies had too.

Your approach is the right one, there is no question. Sometimes I have really felt bad when people have a wooden floor fitted in their house only to find that their dog is having serious trouble and fear with walking on it. And what is worse, they have their dog trained to walk on it anyway despite their paws being built quite differently from human feet and human footwear. In that kind of situation there really is only one choice left: to replace the shiny floor with something more reasonable, that the dog can safely walk on without the fear of slipping, or they could possibly resort to simply dressing their dogs feet in traction socks.
