What is it with "Evil Superman opposed by the Batman Resistance" stories? Just once, I'd like to see Batman's control freak tendencies and his hatred for crime driven to the extreme, and Superman, as the moral center of the DC Universe have to take down the most dangerous man on the planet.
You should check out Super Man Red Son. The one where Superman lands in USSR and is a Soviet hero turned ruler. It's not what you're asking for unfortunately but I enjoy that he's not just a straight up bad guy. Power hungry, yeah, but well intentioned and it's more a politically charged dispute. For what it's worth in a fighting game, plot can be a real hell of an after thought.
pirateg3cko I have indeed read Red Sun. As morally ambigious as the two men are, at least it isn't "Superman bad. Batman good!" Plus,, as odd as it seems, I like that it's a continuity that shows that Batman, even with prep time, never stood a chance in a fight. But if it was JUST the fighting game, it would be one thing. But even the Earth-2 comics are turning into that plot.
Because it makes way more sense for batman to be resisting superman than the other way around. Superman always has the advantage, always. If Batman became supreme dictator of all of earth, it would take Superman all of ten seconds to take him down since he's in the spotlight which isn't really how Batman operates. I mean, I guess you could have Batman scheme behind the JL's back to either make them all join his side or lose their powers but, at the same time, if one lied and only pretended to join him, he'd be screwed. Batman's just more suited for the resistance fighter role, he's a planner. Likewise in the DCU, whatever side Superman is on is usually the winner, because he's friggin Superman. Having Superman as the underdog just doesn't work. He's not an underdog character, he's earths mightiest hero. Unless Batman somehow turned our sun red, he'd be able to take the guy out from miles away if he was any kind of malevolent public figure.
Skullgirs had a cutscene move that was way too long but they solved it in a pretty funny way. They made a patch that lets you skip the scene if you're the user so most people do most of the time but they left open the option not to skip it so you can use it as a stalling method if there are only several seconds left in the fight.
Here's why me loves the Yahtzee:: He tells a complete and internalized story every time, employs references and humor without losing focus has an irresistibly simple visual presentation style never outstays his welcome, never drops the ball For all of the above, you have gained my trust- you are a master at what you do. I will gladly watch any review you make, even if I'm not interested in the game (as now)
I've only just discovered your videos, and they're quite funny. But that bit at the end of this one, with the seal? That is, legitimately, the funniest thing I've seen in the last eighteen months. Thank you.
You know, I've never been very interested in comic books, but even I know that throwing Action Comics #1 in the garbage can is like wiping your ass with the Declaration of Independence!
+LeChevalierPourpre I'll be damned. I had to watch it again but you are right about the death star reference. Now my mind is thoroughly boggled. Also, +GREATGAIWAIN, yeah he's a very accomplished actor, and I love a lot of his work. But one can't really deny the amount of popularity he has from Star Wars alone.
For all of the non-fighting game players out there, this game is actually a very, very solid fighter for competitive gameplay that has been building a big following in the FGC. When you play this game the way it's meant to be played a lot of the things mentioned in this video are completely untrue. Like the super-move-lunch-break thing. A careful use of meter is important for use of ex specials (often used to extend combos, case and point batman's grapple in order to extend a combo) is too important to use your super-move with most characters so in a real match you'll hardly ever see them. and the clash is a unique gameplay mechanic that has nothing to do with "quick time events". It's a wager mechanic. Something you use to break a combo and based on how much meter you have (and how much you wager) it determines weather you regain health or lose health. and for those who still don't know Superman's special trait provides him with an ability to ignore armored attacks (such as doomsdays trait that makes it so he doesn't recoil when you hit him) and a damage boost. Although this review doesn't accurately explain the mechanics of the game he is rather spot on when it comes to the story. All in all, if you like fighting games, this is a much better game than this review would lead you to believe. (Oh and bounce cancels aren't even remotely difficult to do)
TheKeyser94 Supes is now a psycho trigon was sent into the void Damien Wayne became nightwing and batman is slightly more angst than normal greatest.fucking.comic.EVER I'm being serious this is hilariously awesome
I had the same thought, why would they even bother saving a parallel universe, there are litterally infinite of them and in half of them the world has ended, and in another quarter the world will end. You cant save infinity universes so why bother with any of the ones not your own.
Hmm... Well, technically speaking, it's supposed to be like this: 1) Tutorial: to understand how the game mechanics work 2) (once you pick your character) Challenge mode: to understand what your character is capable of. 3) Training mode: vs AI opponents. As dumb as they are, they'll demonstrate the match-ups against your character. This is also the time where you learn what to do with hit-confirms that weren't in challenge mode 4) Experience Maybe I'm not supposed to be serious, but whatever. xP
It also ignores many characters armored attacks which really levels out a fight against someone like Grundy or Doomsday, both of which are known to have excessive armor.
I liked it. I don't have much experience with fighting games but when I saw my favorite superheroes in one I just had to try. So I did. Now, I've one about 2 dozen online battles by just throwing Aquaman's Trident over and over.
***** If you think that's bad you should see deathstroke. Think the same as Aquaman only wit the repetitiveness of a machine gun because it IS a machine gun. Imagine someone just shooting you over and over all the way from the other side of the screen just BANG BANG BANG! But if you don't want to be a Douche, Aquaman and Deathsroke have cool melee moves. Especially the juggle.
***** The reaon everyone thinks his only power is talking to fish that old Super Friends cartoon. Even before that he was pretty good. He threw a polar bear at seal poachers!
it'd be hell to balance out i mean you got mr tickle with ridiculous reach and mr small would be impossible to hit unless you really messed with the hurtboxes i mean it's be the whole choosing oddjob in goldeneye scenario and i don't wanna get started on the little miss characters
Yeah I've got the tablet port where you pick a tag team of characters to play and all the super moves have interesting ways to power them up if to have super fast tapping fingers, or pinpoint timing, but it does feel good to have superman one-heat-vision-KO someone as soon as they tag in shows what should really happen in a fight with him.
Kevin Conroy actually provide support for the relief aid when the twin towers fell. He did his Batman voice and everyone there was super hyped. So yeah, Kevin Conroy really is Batman
He always makes me laugh out loud in almost every single video. This time it was the part about using your Super Move to go check on the roast in the oven. I don't know why it's funny. It just was. That's thing about comedy, it has as much to do with delivery and context as the actual words being spoken.
Neither one's a quicktime event, though. Wager just has you guessing how much meter your opponent will spend over a flashy animation to restore health and in DBZ, it was just guessing what your opponent would do. So bad Yatze for not knowing what the heck a quicktime event actually was! I guess he could be talking about the story mode where there are minigames, but the minigames aren't part of the actual fight!
Tenkaichi did it right with QTE. The Budokai series did it right with clashes. Tenkaichi 3 had the balance of both and it was good. Now look at Ultimate Budokai where THE WHOLE GAME IS A QTE. Any kind of move at any time ever will throw you into a QTE always. Naruto: Rise of a Ninja is more of an adventure game than a fighting game.
lol I remember doing the clashes alot online in BT3 (BT3 had shit online btw) and I always won by just bringing the wii remote up close to the bar then fastly flicked it up n down and yay I won. IMO QTE's in fighting games are just stupid and if you've found an exploit or know your opponent well then there is just no point in it also I win most of them so I just don't bother with them.
yea, i hope they do something about that, like, increase the recovery time on his guns by a lot more so that he can't just spam them, or have them be his character trait, or something like that.
I had to pause, rewind, and watch that scene where the stickfigure drops the can of dr pepper. why does it make me laugh SO MUCH. tears are running down my face it just gives me the giggles i can't help it
Interesting how all the comments here are about comics rather than the game part of the game. Then again the average bloke can barely name anything that qualifies as good game design in fighting games, often just standing there drooling like an idiot because the game looks pretty or its Mortal Kombat. Worst of all are the ones who can't even make it that far on the level of intellect it takes to recognize a fighting game often roping it in with other genres as a "brawler" despite it being not so fitting to fighting games like other genres such as beat em ups where some may even find that at least a hint insulting. What I really love about this video is despite the fact that Yahtzee does technically fall into that category of people that don't know shit about fighting games because he does not like them, even if he understands more about fighting game design than some may think, he still manages to name of the three primary flaws that ruin an otherwise solid game. Those being the story being typical super hero wank and the combat being hindered by the QTE like gamble system and horrendously long and over animated supers that put it an an awkward position that both other super hero comics/media and fighting games have long since surpassed. Bravo Mr. Croshaw, bravo.
Reminds me of that time when Deadpool was bitten by a vampire zombie thing. The thing said Deadpool had spoiled blood as if he was already undead himself which makes sense considering Thanos' curse on Deadpool.
A lot of fictional characters are either on his level or stronger, he isn;t the strongest character ever and is he really game breaking when Batman usually has a contigency plan to beat everyone?
DC killed off both Bruce Wayne and The Joker in New 52... If they were gonna kill the two most interesting characters... ok most intersting character and their most popular character, then why have a GODDAMN REBOOT? It's like having John Lennon return from the dead and be a baker.
I like how some mechanics are obvious too someone who plays a certain kind of game that isn't to people who don't. Like I can tell from that description, superman's O button is a counter.
ive always told people that the best way to get into Yahtzee is to watch his review of your favorite game. anyone with the right sense of humor will realize instantly that he very rarely speculates, and that even if his opinion is harsh, if something works for a game, he'll genuinely mention it! the difference between a review and a critique is Yahtzee.
I have almost watched all these reviews just to hear the insults. They always make be smile but the seal part at the end of this vid almost made me fall out of my chair. :D
honestly, I don't understand why they boiled down specials to pressing the triggers, one of the most satisfying things for me personally is to pull off the different moves, especially after seeing what can be done, I was in a match one time where my opponent used each move in such effective succession that I didn't care that I was stun locked, I was mesmerized, it made me want to get to that level, in injustice it's either finding the one bullshit move that just works or trying to use that one finicky move that works one time out of one hundred if you've been a good boy an you know at least three people with 'r' as the third letter of their middle name, and even then it's a 50/50 shot
Maby it would be easier if you explain it as. DLC (Already on the Disc) Really means = Disc Locked Content (Not officially but it might as well be called that and spotted by being a 100kb download, unless you download it in an update) and thats a type of DLC that companies use us, the 'loyal consumer' to get more money from us because they are greedy. Now, there is the other DLC = Downloadable Content (spotted usually being a few Mb ATLEAST.)
Yahtzee, there's more to Lois's death than that. It's kinda passingly mentioned, but the joker tricked superman into killing Lois. Plus, the "red haze moves" increase attack power.
Some people can have the voice of an angel and talk like the last guy you ever want to hear from again, Morgan Freeman is him because of his character and personality.
THAT WAS AWESOME. I actually love comics and fighting games so i was a bit surprised to find someone who didnt, but you speak so frickin fast and ended with WONK. Ima click eight more vids! And like em all.
Yahtzee, I want to thank you. You gave me the inspiration I needed to keep my TH-cam going. I am trying to do reviews, and I guess you could say that you're my idol in that aspect. So thank you for helping me out, though you may not get to read this yourself, I still hope you get the chance. ~FMJ

But he fights other people who are basically gods. Darkseid, Braniac, Mongol, Bizzaro and Myxezpitlik to name a few
A lot of fictional characters are either on his level or stronger, he isn;t the strongest character ever and is he really game breaking when Batman usually has a contigency plan to beat everyone?
Just found your channel. Must applaud all the work that goes into your videos. I am now watching all of them good day sir.
wonk!
Miracle of sound, is genuinely good.
Among us
Ironing Man, the most well-dressed Super Hero.
DC killed off both Bruce Wayne and The Joker in New 52... If they were gonna kill the two most interesting characters... ok most intersting character and their most popular character, then why have a GODDAMN REBOOT? It's like having John Lennon return from the dead and be a baker.
TheKeyser94 Oh yeh... I forgot that the only comic character to ever stay dead is Uncle Ben.
+Thelonious Burton and Bruce's parents
+Thelonious Burton Dude don't get started with them stating dead now, Darkseid war is making sure they ain't dead... because they are literal Gods now
This, Escape to the Movies, and some of the news announcements are about all I watch here.
*clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap* WONK
I like how some mechanics are obvious too someone who plays a certain kind of game that isn't to people who don't. Like I can tell from that description, superman's O button is a counter.
ive always told people that the best way to get into Yahtzee is to watch his review of your favorite game. anyone with the right sense of humor will realize instantly that he very rarely speculates, and that even if his opinion is harsh, if something works for a game, he'll genuinely mention it!
the difference between a review and a critique is Yahtzee.
i don't know why but that wonk at thee end cracks me up
4:50 Beginning of the longest moment of silence I have ever heard on Zero Punctuation!
" you dozy twats " BRILLIANT !
I'm using this , if you dont mind
No, I was just saying he has a brilliant voice, I thought we were just saying the names of people who had cool voices.
Charles Atlas? Like the muscle guy from the 30's that informed the design of Superman?
Deep cuts man!!
wagers are awesome and a lot more than a quick time event. basically the only way to get out of a combo
the dr pepper joke fucking slayed me when I first saw it
Havent even played the game just watch these videos cause the ones he did do about the games I played were spot on.
I have almost watched all these reviews just to hear the insults. They always make be smile but the seal part at the end of this vid almost made me fall out of my chair. :D
James Earl Jones the soprano:
"I am your father!"
"...Wait, did you say FATHER or MOTHER?"
Killer Frost is a relative of Mr. Freeze. Mr. Freeze has 4 relatives who all do the same thing and this is apparent in Young Justice
honestly, I don't understand why they boiled down specials to pressing the triggers, one of the most satisfying things for me personally is to pull off the different moves, especially after seeing what can be done, I was in a match one time where my opponent used each move in such effective succession that I didn't care that I was stun locked, I was mesmerized, it made me want to get to that level, in injustice it's either finding the one bullshit move that just works or trying to use that one finicky move that works one time out of one hundred if you've been a good boy an you know at least three people with 'r' as the third letter of their middle name, and even then it's a 50/50 shot
I actually thought the clashing mechanic was kinda neat. Adds extra meta game to meter management and combo breaking and such.
I almost burst out laughing in the middle of school at the end.
I just saw a Watchdogs developer speak about his game, other than that,I'm with you
It took me literally 2 weeks to understand this. Brilliant subtly, sir!
Yahtzee, there's more to Lois's death than that. It's kinda passingly mentioned, but the joker tricked superman into killing Lois. Plus, the "red haze moves" increase attack power.
Jimquisition, Moviebob, reel physics amd yahtzee are some of my favourite shows... all on the same channel as well
I'm so happy I wasn't the only person who thought Lex looked like Bruce Willis in Injustice :')
Some people can have the voice of an angel and talk like the last guy you ever want to hear from again, Morgan Freeman is him because of his character and personality.
this video convinced me outta no where to subscribe u :L i love ur voice i could watch ur videos all day
THAT WAS AWESOME. I actually love comics and fighting games so i was a bit surprised to find someone who didnt, but you speak so frickin fast and ended with WONK. Ima click eight more vids! And like em all.
I really thought he was exaggerating when he said that's the setup to every fight in story mode, BUT HE'S RIGHT!
Daww. I found the seal-esque performance at the end oddly charming.
Yahtzee, I want to thank you.
You gave me the inspiration I needed to keep my TH-cam going.
I am trying to do reviews, and I guess you could say that you're my idol in that aspect.
So thank you for helping me out, though you may not get to read this yourself, I still hope you get the chance.

no its does not it fills up the meter to pull of the cinematic move faster when you attack whilst its activated
