    What I love about overnight oats is When soaked overnight, the starch present in the oats is naturally broken down and more nutrients are absorbed by the oats through the period of soaking, the acid present in the oats also breaks down overnight and this results in better digestion. It’s a slow cooking method . I always soak my
    Chickpeas , split peas etc .or nuts overnight as well because it’s easier on the stomach .

    • @HAL-dm1eh
      @HAL-dm1eh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      It's not the same thing, though. Even if starches are processed (white flour, white rice, white pasta, etc) it still have to go through another process before it is broken down on a molecular level into sugars and even when those sugars are broken down they don't have to go through the liver like fructose does. And fructose is fine when accompanied by fiber, as in whole fruits.
      Even better are whole grains that are starches with the fiber and all their nutrients still intact, such as the oats he's talking about. They even have enough healthy fats to slow down the absorption even more so as to not spike blood sugar levels.
      The problem lies when you start shoveling in white sugar, sugary drinks and fruit juice which is just everywhere. It then becomes an unhealthy drug.

      @@HAL-dm1eh There are dozens of GM crops grown in the US. Please do your research before making a gross misstatement. Oats may not currently be GM but they are still sprayed in the US with toxic carcinogenic glyphosate (Roundup weed killer) which can still find its way to nearby organic crops. Ireland still allows the use of glyphosate and currently has no plans in place to ban it. The answer is to only buy organic.

Toss it in the fridge. Delicious cold cereal in the morning and 100% more digestible for my stomach. Im never going back to conventional hot oatmeal.

      Lowering carbs definitely helps to lose weight. On the day you decide to eat oatmeal make sure you watch the type of food you eat for the remainder of the day so you don't go over your carb count.
      Don't eat oatmeal everyday, you could eat oatmeal 3x's a week on the days you workout. On oatmeal day make sure you really watch your portions and carb content and you'll be fine.
