    My wife has the 2018 and although it is a bit small for longer trips (2hr+), it is our go to car for around town. It's geared for town so its zippy and nimble. Parking is a breeze as it can fit anywhere. It is also incredibly cheap to run and built solid. Glad to see it still around.

    Well done, Kia, for sticking with this class of car. Although the detailing is fussy, the facelift works with this size of car. Should do well.

    The front end is so busy and over styled, I think we now know where the designer of 'that' Honda Civic has gone to work. Kia/Hyundai are generally doing great cars these days, effectively taking the space in the mass market that Ford used to own.

    We have a 2023 GT-Line S & it’s a fabulously fun small car to drive. Shame the turbo has been dropped as the engine in ours is superb & nippy to drive with power available everywhere in the rev range thanks to the turbo. Good to see Kia is still selling a small car as most manufacturers seem to be dropping them, silly when you consider how economical & practical they are as a city or 2nd car.

      I think they've missed a trick dropping the turbo as I use mine on many a long run and it's brilliant at it

    I still miss a newer model Skoda Citigo. The discontinued one is such a great little car I would like to see a newer version of it on the market. The last update even had a (short-lived) electric or hybrid option? But as said, it is hard to make a profit from small cheap city cars.

    I can't believe Kia are dropping the turbo engine. My wife has the GT-S (so it has the turbo engine) and it's a hoot to drive. Some people do want the small car that can still shift when you need it to. We'll be holding on to the current car for some time then - it will probably start to appreciate in value eventually. Despite the udpates, I can't imagine the 1.2 engine will do 0-60 in under 10 secs.

    As I understood, Kia will put a lot of technical stuff as standard in this Picanto, digital cockpit, nav and so on, so the starting price might be significally higher that the previous model. The sunroof was already available in the previous model at least in 2022 in Europe when the new logo was already on them, same for the bigger entertainment system with touch screen. I have bought mine in april 2022 and I took the sunroof as option. The entertainment system is great and it has already the OTA update function, which I recently notices on mine, when it did the last update. Don't know how long it has already been an available option. I found that to be a must-have, very nice. I don't understand the dropping of the Turbo, because that changes the character of the car from a shopping cart to a little pocket rocket.

      Hope you're right and biking chap is wrong. This looks to be even better specced than the current model but without the turbo the GT Line will be gutless. Have been torn between the now discontinued VW Up! GTI (bit faster) and the Picanto GT Line S (much better kitted) and the 2024 Picanto would tip the balance all the way - but only with the turbo. I would recommend that potential buyers look at the latest Suzuku Ignis before making the final decision. I did and chose the Ignis. I wanted greater body height to cope with the hazards on today's roads. Much more room for me , my passengers and luggage. Room for a spare wheel (extra). I also disliked the AMT transmission. Suzuki abandoned their similar previous AGS system due to many problems. I am not suggesting that you choose one over the other because the Picanto has many features that the Ignis does not and this may suit you better.

    Once Euro 7 kicks in from 2025, there will be virtually none of these cars on the market. VW will stop selling the Up! and equivalents, and is also going to stop producing the Polo and equivalents. Such a shame as all that we need are small runabouts.

    • @BikingChap
      @BikingChap 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    • @TL-xw6fh
      @TL-xw6fh 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @mrmiruk Euro 7 requires not only stricter emission standards but added on road emission of tyre and brake dust to be sent live to respective government agencies. This will greatly increase the complexity and cost of the car. Manufacturers would therefore focus on ensuring that their more profitable product lines comply first. They simply do not have the engineering resources to get all the current product lines compliant in time. Ford, VW Group and Stellantis have either ceased production or planned to do so of the lower profit margin vehicles. So sad 😞.

    • @BikingChap
      @BikingChap 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@TL-xw6fh there’s also the argument that because they don’t contribute to the lowering of the manufacturers emissions targets as was the case with CO2 targets and they make little profit on them they’ve just cutting them from their ranges. Motoring is just about to get more expensive sadly.

    In Canada, we have no hopes in having cars the size of the Picanto available to us, despite our driving needs not being all that much different than anyone else's. It's a shame we will never have access to these super-affordable cars.
    Also, man would this be a hit if it had about 40km of all-EV range as an option.

      I don't understand why more cars aren't like the BMW i3 with range extender. Drive 100km as an EV plus a motorcycle engine to charge it up if you need to go further.

      I agree, it’s mostly to blame the government for not accepting Euro standards into our country despite that we had a EU trade deal with them since 2013.
      Such a shame that they didn’t put any efforts into changing our car regulations. Otherwise our auto industry would’ve been so different than what we have now.

    £14,000 for just the starting price?? That's what I payed in 2019 for a fully prepped Picanto, with all the features and an auto gearbox. Things have changed dramatically in 4 puny little years.

    I still adore my 67 plate Picanto GT-Line 1.25 litre, so much. I could only like it more if it was the GT-Line S.
    Respect to Kia for keeping the Picanto going! I'm liking the new exterior styling, although the front is a bit OTT. My main beef is that there still won't be a self charging hybrid option, in 2024, that is atrocious Kia.
    Also, on the flip side, it's a damn shame that we've never seen a proper hot hatch Picanto!

    This car is kinda getting to me here. There's clearly some cheesy retro elements going on here. I also love that digital dash. This car with 84HP and the automated 5 speed transmission seems like a great deal to me. It kinda looks cool after looking at it for a while as well. This car might be worth a shot.

    Great, so they retain the truly gutless 1 litre where they could’ve just a single engine, the 1.2.
    The price increase is no doubt another step in convincing people that EVs aren’t going to cost THAT much more than the run out petrol models and a wise person should opt for the prettier current model still widely available for under £12k
