I wish this was available in Europe. It would make a great affordable car. It's always nice to have some affordable cars among all the 40.000 Euro monsters.
@@InsideChinaAuto Especially with the goals that the European Union sets with regards to emissions. But somehow they are baffled that EV adoption is lagging behind their targets because not enough people are buying 40k+ monstrosities instead of used ICE cars. If Europe ever wants to meet its climate goals, it needs to start thinking about people that cannot afford the current EVs.
At least the European market is getting some smaller and more practical EVs (even if they are closer to £10k than £5k). Cars like this will sadly probably never make it to North America.
I have not been on the EV bandwagon for a multitude of reasons and most of them having to do with the fact that all the car and truck manufacturers are just making the same mistakes by building EVs that are just too damn big and are just EV versions of the ICE vehicles they have been pushing on people for years now. That said I love seeing these little mini EV cars and think that this is where they should have all started to begin with. They make more sense right now rather than trying to shift everyone into a big EV car or truck which require too big a battery and leave many people with that range anxiety worry. But these will never make it to the US because of the ridiculous rules and safety bs that keeps even the Japanese kei cars from being sold here. And that is the real shame of it all. I would buy one of these in a second if we could get them here.
Couldn't agree more. Modern cars just get bigger and heavier every year, making accidents more dangerous for vulnerable road users and crowding our streets and car parks. I'd welcome far more of this kind of car.
I guess they won’t allow this brilliant car in Britain either. Main reason being the government will make almost ZERO taxes out of it, despite all the BS about emissions and pollution from I.C.E. vehicles. This would be perfect for commuting within London. Perfect if you have a small drive you can’t fit a Tesla on - but this would fit perfectly. Charge it overnight at home only (helps if there’s charging at work too) and that’s it. The perfect commuter vehicle. I find it cynical and ironic that those dangerous stand up e-Scooters with the impossibly tiny wheels are readily available for rent in London, but the UK authorities will wheel out two billion reasons why this vehicle MUST NOT be sold in the UK….(unless some Quango can import them and rent them to commuters for truly exorbitant fees for an hour). These should be sold here, even if they’re classed as quadricycles - though clearly, this vehicle is more than that. Tricking the general public into believing that the only EVs available cost upwards of £30k - while turning a blind eye to people dangerously perching on illegal e-Scooters - in the hope that, that’s all the lower classes will aspire to, (while insidiously banning the sales of EV’s like this Panda Mini EV) is a particularly cruel crime perpetuated by those running the UK. Over here, they’re still dreaming of seeing / forcing the lower classes on bicycles regardless of the weather (or Cattle Class Public Transport - which cannot cope and is often highly inconvenient due to a lack of proper investment). I’d buy one of these in a heartbeat. Very handy for commuting and shopping. I don’t go far, have a free bus pass for Central London anyway as I wouldn’t even drive there now anyway, but appreciate the idea of relying on electric power to get around instead of being taxed to the hilt on petrol and also subjected to whimsical ULEZ taxes when next they decide to move the goal posts and force every petrol car to pay ULEZ charges in London and other cities just because - it’s all about the Money (money, money…!) for them….!!! Thanks for the video review.
@Idkmanihatethis Well you only get it on the top edition so just downgrade and see if they'll fit the other top edition stuff you wouldn't get instead. Sorted.
I visited China for the first time a few months ago and was completely blown away by the amount of small electric cars (I think the really tiny ones have since been banned), they just seem so practical and I wish I had one here in Australia just because I think they're cool.
They're great for getting around and are really popular in the smaller cities. Even the tiniest ones that are called LSEVs are still on sale in smaller cities and rural areas, simply as a way to get around and stay dry when needed. Should always be wary though, those smaller ones are usually made by disreputable companies and come with risks, not least safety and fires, but this Panda is at least made right by a company with a good reputation.
Now imagine this with a solar panel instead of panoramic roof! It could give you exactly enough boost to use it as whole city aglomerate length if driving with that extra 10-16 km of sun charge! Here, in Israel, where we hardly have more than 80 km between major cities, it would cut our traffic jams in half at the very least! Especially when you think about almost half of the cars on daily road being used for some duet of workers with some tools and stuff using FIAT Doblos at the very least and the other half almost entirely consists of loner-drivers on SUVs they got from work😢
Imagine shifting all the SUV school runs and OAP trips round town replaced with these. Quiet, cleaner air round town and twice the parking spaces. And the price? £4800? God we are being ripped off in the U.K. with our £40k+ EV’s.
In Australia people are starting to import American trucks like RAM, Silverado etc and it's just insane. They are so big but always only have 1 person inside and no load.
@@sybsygstgstsgysg5330 you could say that about anything - have you seen how much damage oil extraction causes, or aluminium smelting? There’s literally nothing we pull out of the ground that has zero impact, it’s not unique to lithium ion batteries.
It's literally what the market needs right now - Cheap barebones city car with good mileage and a nice aesthetic. I Really hope these get a global release at some point. I think it'd sell well in almost all countries.
its great, but you don't know, I don't know either, i was the man responsible for writing a piece about the mini metro whilst at colleges put my money where my heart was though, would you?
Not with legacy brands, people are so shocked they don't have this in the market considering the apparent demand. It's not shocking at all, budget cars like this have lower profit margins, that's why legacy western brands don't make them, it's quite simple really.
If that was available in the UK, I would have one today. It really is time that we had some small cheap EV's here. I drive a Volvo XC70 to tow a caravan, but most of my journeys are local, so this would be perfect as a daily driver.
Amazing little car, hope they become available for sale in the UK. I would rather a basic cheap electric vehicle for commuting as opposed to £40-50k alternatives that we are currently being offered. I don't need self driving, lane assist, wrap around consoles, mood lighting etc. Why modern cars need to be absolutely packed full of expensive electronic components is anyone's guess.
This would be great as a zipcar - just pick one up do what you need to (do your weekly shop usually, or pick up/drop off), then park it back where it lives, plug it in, forget about it. That'd cover 90% of what I need to do in a town. I'd be happy to hire a car for long journeys anyway - something nice and luxurious for the occasional big trip.
The door is almost a meter wide but it has 14" wheels and the sunroof is 64" long! I laughed at the mixed units. I wish we could all go metric, all the time. (I live in the US.)
Haha, sorry for that. I'm used to metres but wheel size is always in inches and the pano roof measurement was given in inches too, hence the mish mash.
Wheel and tire is a strange thing. Width is metric, height is neutral ground in percentage and wheel is in inches. Perhaps it's because tires are bought using sidewall numbers as reference. No need to do any actual measuring. Sunroof, I think they're trying to compare it to screen sizes. Which doesn't require measuring. 64 freedom units, everyone knows how big a 32" TV is. Or 55" 65" 70", whatever you have at home. Rather than metric mm², 1626 mm². 🤔
This would be spot on for my needs. I can't see the point in spending £20K+ on an EV 2nd car when i've got a perfectly good diesel. But I would happily stump up £5K+ on this as a discretionary purchase. When is it going to be available for purchase in UK?
never, and if it is, it will be 4 times the price. got to pay for all the crash tests, safety checks. extra tax to government and shipping, and dealership profits.
I would potentially buy this for a winter work car when I didn't want to use my bike, I am considering the Citroen ami as it's the only thing close to this in the UK. I would rather have this though, it looks brilliant.
This is exactly what I need! I’m not a car guy and just need to get to point A to B. Live in California and this would be perfect to get to work in or a weekly drive to my parents house 40 miles away! For under $6k that’s a hard price to beat!
@@2Fast2Contrast Depends on where you are. Certainly exporting is simple, but importing has different challenges depending on the market, such as tariffs, taxes, need for local type-approval in some cases.
The review was almost perfect. All i missed is the maximum speed, and the experience of driving at higher speed(50kmh+) and...what is in the box?! (i mean under the hood)
Apologies. Top speed is 100kph, over 50kph it was totally fine on my opinion, and under the hood there's no dedicated space but there is space enough for a backpack if you put some kind of tray in there.
Currently not but never say never. As simple electric cars go, it's really pretty good. I like the big roof too though it will get hot inside on sunny days.
@@InsideChinaAuto Geely won't be expanding with the Panda. Like in SEA, they normally start with their SUV lineup, followed by their sedans. For the EU however, they were planning to expand into the market through their various subsidiaries & JVs, Polestar, Lotus (High-end) & London Black cabs, & Lynk & Co./Zeekr etc., not directly at least not now. The only two not-quite-SMOL EVs from China that might make the leap to Europe are the new BYD Dolphin & GWM Ora.

There is a huge market for these micro cars especially with 4 seats and the conversion from hatch space to rear seating space. This is where we should be going !!...Lightweight and compact because most urban cars are not doing many miles and often single occupancy
That would be an awesome car for people that live in a congested downtown area or people that just never go more than a few miles from home. Nothing like it over here in the USA unfortunately. Smallest thing we have is the Mitsubishi Mirage and that might be going away as well.

Looking at a photo of the Wuling Mini EV, I suspect the weird B-pillar styling on the Geely, that ruins the view from the back seat, is to be the opposite of the Wuling's C-pillar for product differentiation.
Would it pass Euro safety specs? or would it need an upgrade? Just right for fetching 2/3 kids from school and picking up milk and fresh fruit & veg on the way home. When can I get one? If the roof was a bolt-on it could be delivered as a kit car in a 1m high box with bubble wrapped wheels, doors and roof. Probably get 12 in a container, and home delivery in a ford transit.
Haha, that almost sounds like a utopian future. As for Euro safety specs, in this form I highly doubt it. I'm not certain on all the requirements but it may need more airbags and likely a stronger front crash structure. No idea how it performs as I haven't even seen a C-NCAP test of it yet but I'm going to go ahead and say it's probably not a 5- or even 4-star car, but could be wrong.
ive been saying "bring back the iMiev but at todays prices" for a while and this is a version of that. basic, perhaps underpowered a bit(would still give your average ICE economybox a run for its money in town) and with as much range(at least with the 17kWh) as most people will ever use if they buy it as a second car. plus it has a 22kW option which means one could find an AC charging station at the mall if they ever venture outside its range.
My hope is that we're starting to get tired of SUVs and enormous cars on the whole and looking to drive more smaller cars and the comments here show some ambition for that. In a city, cars like this would be perfect even without the top-level safety of new cars because nobody would be driving too crazy in one of these. Fingers crossed.
@@InsideChinaAuto with emissions regulations being what they are, the only way small cars will be allowed to exist soon is if they are electric. which kind of sucks since it means people who either can't or aren't open to transitioning to electric will be stuck with larger cars than they need.
It's a great first car, small, cheap enough to bash a few times, EV so cheap to run and essentially what we'll all likely be driving for a while. Hopefully some make it there somehow.
@@InsideChinaAuto Another good point. However they aren’t dying young from lithium poisoning. The EV industry is exploiting children in poor countries’ and it needs highlighting.
It looks like the designer based the body shape on a car that their 3 year old child drew. I could well see a localised version of this doing well in the UK as there doesn't seem to be much competition where it comes to EV's in the budget arena. Even if it clocked in at the £10,000 price point there is a total lack of competition on the new market (and relatively little on the second hand one).
It is a cool looking car. Personally I've got a soft spot for the Baojun Kiwi, I love how robot/futuristic it looks, but this one is cool, the Wuling is cool in the right spec, so I think it just comes down to personal preference in the end.
Here in the US, I was hit from behind in my Pickup truck at 50 mph and almost got killed. There is no way I'd be in a car that small. If every car was that small ,maybe my opinion would change. But as long as there is large vehicles on the road, forget it.
What's with the rear windows being partially blanked off? Is there some mechanical reason for it? If it's just a styling feature in an attempt to make it not look like a box with 4 wheels, it seems crazy to limit visibility like that. Range might be a little challenging for longer commutes. However, overall, think this type of car makes a lot of sense. If only more people were sensible enough to drive cars like this? Shall we see anything like this in the UK? I doubt it. We might get similar vehicles but I would guess the price will be multiplied by a factor of 2, 3 or 4??
I'm curious if maybe it hides some strengthening in there or something but without taking it apart I'll never know. But you're right, it'll do nearly all you'll need of it except longer journeys, but with just an hour to charge to full it's not the end of the world.
No idea why, but car's like this and the Citroen Ami really appeal to me. I'd rather have one of these kinds of car than a supercar, just something really cool about this kind of thing which is really what the car really should be, cheap affordable and accessible to all. Yeah fast and luxurious car's are nice, but just don't really compare to the true idea of what the car really stands for.
Reminds me of my 1986 Chevy Sprint (Geo Metro) 2 dr 5 speed. I might have had a little more hatch room. Lowest cost to own car I bought as a winter beater and ended up driving it for a few years and parked my Classic and sports car garaged while I loved driving the easy sized car and Many times I had 4 adults 2 over 6’ tall.
Some small cars just stick in the memory because you learn to love their character and flaws. I feel the same about my original mini. I could hate it and love it in equal measure, but mostly love.
Thanks looks great- will it handle hills ok without slowing down ? What is the minimum power requirement to negotiate hills in coastal tourist regions for example?
We really need affordable cars like this. I would definitely go back to driving if it was available here in the UK. I get that Sunak says China is a economic competition but which country isn't competing with us and each other? Instead we stand by America's side buying expensive cars. Can we not have factories over here making these? Would mean UK work force will have a job making cute cars 😅
We really should build these, or at the very least assemble them. Right now Sunak himself is a greater competition to our economy than any other nation. The guy is a clown, as are his group of privileged cronies. They have seemingly no interest in creating jobs for people.
I would buy one today if they were sold in the States. Have a Model YLR that we use for most things, but often one of us is out of town leaving the other to use my old 4Runner to pick up kids and run errands. Would much rather use something like this.
@kenho-wr5ul2rh7m Not quite, there are bike and scooter lanes but these cars are not for those, they're fully paid up cars and must drive where the others do. Can't say that's true of all cities but none of the many major cities I've been to have lanes for Pandas and Hongguangs.
If we were any serious about people going with EV they have to offer affordable solutions like this one. It's simply not feasible buying a new car that you pay off for the next 10+ years. I want this adorable panda, because I hardly ever drive and when I do it's literally to only pick some stuff and avoiding long rides with busses and trams.
@@InsideChinaAuto found in a tip... i used to work at fiat dealer for a good number of years and only fiat i can recommend is the panda ... all the rest are not reliable, inc the very popular 500 crap... panda is solid small car and will beat any Chinese Ev on price comfort and reliability and especially in a crash. but i just realised your channel name... italian build quality even i will admit there like the chinease of Europe... 30 years ago... but china cars are simply dangerous and will not be accepted in Europe as they don't meet safety standards ..... the quality of materials and design are the lowest quality
If it was possible to privately import and register one of these fabulous little Geely Panda EV's to the UK how trivial would it be for it to display MPH on the display and also set the headlamps to be legal for right hand drive? Is it doable?
Best bet is wait until they're sold in somewhere like Thailand or Malaysia (surely coming soon given Geely's links to Proton) then import from there as it'll all be as you want it then. Not sure what price it'll be there though.
Have Geely made sure the Panda is EEC certification compliant? If they have global ambitions they should do so. I hope so because it would make private import more easy. A few years ago I imported a Chinese 150cc 3 wheel scooter to the UK and got it registered and legally on the road, it had EEC certification. Sadly the design and quality were not good so the first MOT took it off the road. The Panda looks as though it has the necessary build quality to be a better long term bet.
I’d love something like this in the US. I mostly commute to and from work and shopping all within about a 10-20 mile radius of where I live. This would be so affordable
@@InsideChinaAuto It is pretty good & economical in cities as long as you don't have to drive it on the freeways. As such, it is a perfect fit for Europe's many 'historic' cities/towns where the roads are basically alleys.
Well I'll be honest, probably don't expect too much there. I can't speak to the body as we don't know anything about any crash tests for these, but there's an airbag, ABS and EBD, that's it. I wouldn't recommend crashing at high speed but if you're using it in a city, chances are you won't be going too fast in a bump.
Two questions about the EV you did not say about? 1 > does it have re-gen for topping up the battery downhills? 2 > Is it going to be sold in the UK at all? And just ask this can you please say what ever EV your reviewing in future can you state miles for the distance it can drive on a full charge as not everyone understands Km.
Hi Colin. 1. Yes, it does come with regen braking 2. Still up in the air. Geely has told people yes, but not committed to when. The EX5 will be the first Geely ever sold in the UK, likely under the LEVC badge, and this will likely only come after that, if it does indeed come. As for miles, I usually provide the range conversion at the bottom of the screen. My audience is global and since most other countries use km, it's the most widely understood, but my UK audience does better hence the miles conversion at the bottom and the currency conversion to pounds too.
I wish it would have a bigger battery pack tho, get something like 400km rage it would be the perfect ride for the masses. City ride in my case is usually 20 ~ 30km per trip, and on a busy day, it is a whopping 150km of driving. So the 400km range can eliminate the worries of running out of juice on the road. Just plug in at home and have it charge overnight.
I live in a little town, I could buy this for cash and never event think about leaving town with it. Drive every day, go to work, do errands. Van for road trips and schlepping stuff. Yay! Is this going to happen?
I hope it is but depends where you're living. Only just out in China at the moment but will likely go abroad at some point, just not sure which countries.
Top speed is 100kph, so about 62mph. As far as I'm aware it's not made for either country, most cars of this type tend to be China market-only so far, but they may gain popularity abroad and that could change. Truth is they're probably not made to pass safety regulations in those countries as they tend to be quite strict but as a one-off import I think you may not have the same requirements. Definitely don't expect a RHD version though (sadly).
@@InsideChinaAuto Thanks. Some Chinese manufacturers are now presenting low speed light electric vehicles on TH-cam as EEC compliant. The EU and UK have a group of standards L2e to L7e for two, three and four wheel electric vehicles with maximum speeds up to 45 and 90km/h and battery capacities up to 5 and 15 kwh depending on the vehicle group. These do not have to meet the same standards as regular cars and trucks. However promotion on TH-cam stating vehicles meet one or other of the L?e standards is not the same as having obtained certification. So I suspect for this class of vehicles one off imports might, as you suggest, be certifiable. LHD is not a problem in the UK provided vehicle headlights can be modified to be compliant and the vehicle has a speedometer which shows miles as well as kilometres. It would be interesting to know if anyone has experience of importing such vehicles to either the EU or the UK. The shipping and duty costs and the ease of one off certification. The Yunlong L7e electric box van and open truck (which are offered with LHD and RHD ) might find a ready market in the UK if the combined selling price, shipping and taxes leave it competitive. London Low emissions zone expands almost to the M25 this August. The charge for non compliant vehicles entering and within the zone will be £12.00 per day so I guess a lot of small businesses will be looking for reasonably priced compliant vehicles.
There's no dedicated space under the bonnet but there is enough space to store a backpack. I reckon an aftermarket supplier might design a tray to fit in there, or at least I hope they do.
Wish this was available in Europe. The sad thing is that putting this vehicle in European ground would just double up the price just with taxes, homologation, etc...
Design wise this car really checks out for me. Love the 2-door design. I just wish Nissan with their e-power system did something like this. Why I love that is because it really take away the range anxiety of typical EVs.

Wish we could get these in Europe.

Would be a much cuter school run too. No need for SUVs if we're all doing short trips.
In Australia people are starting to import American trucks like RAM, Silverado etc and it's just insane. They are so big but always only have 1 person inside and no load.

It is very funky and totally adequate for daily life.
When they get to the UK the price will be forced up to stop the Chinese.Cars are ridicules overpriced no wonder people keep hold of their old bangers.
It's perfect for that, you're right.
A temp electric usage affordable, Non bloodsuckerist attachment?

Looking at a photo of the Wuling Mini EV, I suspect the weird B-pillar styling on the Geely, that ruins the view from the back seat, is to be the opposite of the Wuling's C-pillar for product differentiation.
Could well be for that reason. It's a shame because it puts a hole in visibility for rear passengers.

My hope is that we're starting to get tired of SUVs and enormous cars on the whole and looking to drive more smaller cars and the comments here show some ambition for that. @@InsideChinaAuto Another good point. However they aren’t dying young from lithium poisoning. The EV industry is exploiting children in poor countries’ and it needs highlighting.
It looks like the designer based the body shape on a car that their 3 year old child drew. Even if it clocked in at the £10,000 price point there is a total lack of competition on the new market (and relatively little on the second hand one).

The problem is the big cars, particularly the ones that don't need to be so big, and the US has way too many of them. Incredibly wasteful.
Mature, honest review! Great stuff
The car is the star.
And just ask this can you please say what ever EV your reviewing in future can you state miles for the distance it can drive on a full charge as not everyone understands Km.

1. Yes, it does come with regen braking

Maybe they'll make a bigger one but 400km would be a stretch. You'd need a larger car for that.
If you add more battery to this you add more price and more weight. It's unnecessary for most people most of the time. Would be nice as an option.

Interesting presentation but no mention of top speed or if it meets UK or US regulations or if available as right hand drive.
@@BAphotomania Sounds like there's definitely a market there.
Sensible and fun. Sounds good. Is there any space under the bonnet?
There's no dedicated space under the bonnet but there is enough space to store a backpack. I reckon an aftermarket supplier might design a tray to fit in there, or at least I hope they do.
Wish this was available in Europe. The sad thing is that putting this vehicle in European ground would just double up the price just with taxes, homologation, etc...
Sad reality. Let's see if imports become available at some point.
Until it explodes into a fireball.
When you find a video of one doing so, do let us all know.
What's the top speed? Would it be a liability on a dual carriageway?
100kph, so it'll be OK. Faster than a truck.
is it possible to give messures in metric also - I get very confused from inches...
Maybe I can put them in the description for you in future videos
Design wise this car really checks out for me. Love the 2-door design. I just wish Nissan with their e-power system did something like this.
Why I love that is because it really take away the range anxiety of typical EVs.
Would be an ideal fit if they made it, though they do have something called the Sakura, right? I think Elliot on Fully Charged drove it.
ah.. thanks for that. just saw that review and looks great too but not better than the panda mini IMO.
anyway i was referring ing to this about e-power. th-cam.com/video/4i8_74QREDc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bfJqSGhKlV9ScyVp
Could you tell me what is battery voltage of this EV? 400V system or 115V system ?
Afraid I'm not sure but almost certainly the lower number if either. 22kW DC fast charging and only about 20-30 kWh battery depending on choice so it won't be much.
I'm looking to purchase a 15kW battery pack and I was wondering how much the 17kW battery variant was going to be. Could of been worth driving one round for a year than stripping the battery out.
For the price, absolutely. Might be other options to get a small battery though, maybe from the graveyard of old cars i went to in another video.
@InsideChinaAuto I am after a battery, but I was joking as buying a full car for one.
Really Ike this little car tho
Would it be sold in Canada and Price right on that? Specially in Alberta here Southern part of Alberta Canada.😅
Afraid it's not available outside of China yet except by grey import.
Cool car but would have been nice to know what its cruising speed is. That way I get an idea as to what roads/routes it would be usable on.
Sure. Well top speed is 100kph or 62mph, so it's fine in the fast and slow parts of the city.
I wouldn't be driving a Chinese suicide machine on the freeway with semi trucks and cement mixers.
@10:05 Note that the original Austin mini weighs about 620 kg, so this car is actually 100 to 150 kg heavier!
Indeed, though by the time mine came out in 1994 it was up to 790. Wonder where that came from.
@@InsideChinaAuto Alright, that could be true then. The newest mini I owned was from 1981😎. Later mini's had bigger wheels, bigger seats, a 1300cc engine instead of a 1000cc.. That must be it ?
@winandd8649 Most likely. Plus dashboard accoutrements in many cases too, though not mine.
Thanks for a great review, I want to get one now. One year on after your review how much blood has it drawn from the Wuling Hongguang MINI.
I'd like one myself. Don't think it's had quite the impact on the Hongguang you might expect but I see a few around. I'll get back to your email by the way, just haven't had chance yet.
I didn't catch the top speed? Can you drive it on the roads in USA?
Tops out at 100kph so not super quick. I think as an import you may be able to drive in the US but I doubt it would pass your tests if it was sold officially as they're quite stringent.
can this be imported in UK meeting UK's car legal requirements? If any supplier who can help, please respond.
Believe they're coming at some point, so says Steve Fowler
How often do these EV cars batteries catch on fire? Is there any warranty against fire event?
Don't know if the warranty covers fire, I'd assume so, but certainly haven't seen any evidence of this one catching fire.
This would be the perfect carshare car! One in every neighborhood of a city would cost so little but do everything a carshare user would need!
Exactly. I'd love to believe as a society we could be smart enough to operate something like that but I don't have much faith in humans.
Hi, mate: where is the video is taken? Is it in China? The streets are clean and well maintained.
Hey mate. Yes, this is in Hangzhou, China. Lovely place. Of course not all roads are quite as nice but this place has some lovely areas.
@@InsideChinaAutoI am surprised that there are more cars on China road instead of bicycles. I felt China is quite developed.
@harrysmith8515 Haha, you'd be very surprised mate, as many are when they come. This place will blow your mind. Well worth a visit, trust me.
@@InsideChinaAutothe more China developed, the more criticism from west media. I felt the west want China to stay in poverty instead of developing fast.
@harrysmith8515 The West wants everyone who has had their potential capped by colonialism to stay where they are, it suits them just fine that way, but the world has a way of going in cycles so I think this cycle is just about to turn out of their favour.
Nice review, thank you!
You're very welcome.
So cute! If it was available in the UK I might actually be tempted to give up my bicycle.
Haha. Fingers crossed it will be one day. Let's see.
Very nice for a city car. The only way we’re getting one of these in North America and Europe is if Geely sets up loca production. Really hoping we see this in the next few years, but afraid it’s never going to happen.
Seems that way sadly but let's see. Maybe there's hope.
Hi Mark.
Watching again.
What are the chances of getting Panda in the UK and how much?
Thank you😊❤
Very slim right now I'd say, at least not in RHD yet. You could buy one in China, export it and import it to the UK but I'm not sure about the process of getting it into the UK and then getting it road legal.
@@InsideChinaAuto thank you❤️
This got released in the Philippines under a diff manufacturer-Chery, and moniker-Ice Cream. Unfortunately, it’s priced at 10k pounds and that’s the bare variant. No sunroof, no headunit display. It’s a good size and enough power for daily city drive. Also a great solution for diminishing number of parking spaces.
Afraid they're not the same car. The QQ Ice Cream is a different car and, in my opinion, not quite as good or as spacious as this. They are competitors in the very busy micro EV space now though. Seems a bit pricey at £10k though, I must say.
@@InsideChinaAuto No, actually I’m glad you said they’re completely different. It seems like they’re from the same platform given the astounding amount of similarities. I hope they bring the Panda over to our shores, priced similarly, or close to 5k.
@@laspinas1986 Can't be the same price. You need to add shipping, VAT, and some dealer margins.
A $6k car in China becomes $10k in the Philippines.
@@udishomer5852everything in the Philippines is over priced due to massive corruption, after all a lot of brown envelopes need to be distributed including to port officials. Very little is paid on tax more in bribes and massive mark ups.
Does it come with a solar roof to help charge it when not in use?
It does not, though it would be a nice idea
@@InsideChinaAuto A hundred dollar 100 watt solar panel on top would make this car a world beater, not just from the stand point that the solar panel would give you an extra 10 to 20 miles a day in range but it would make and excellent sun shade if mounted 1 inch above the roof on the roof racks.
Very close to a perfect city car, almost perfect except for that.
@@chinabluewho They have to think about offering that as an option. Would be great.
Good video.
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching. Consider checking out some of the other great cars on the channel.
beautiful city and beautiful city in china! What is the name of the place?
Filmed in Hangzhou in the South part near the lakes
what a great little Car, as a Pensioner living in the UK that would be perfect...sadly though by the time you would get UK and EU type approval, import duties, VAT and Gov New Car tax, it would probably need to sell for £12K plus...although a quadricycle version to compete with the Citroen Ami could be viable...
It would be ideal for pensioners. Simple, compact, spacious, would just need to hope the price matched but as you said, good luck with that part.
What about serviceability and spare parts availability?
In China you'll be fine, currently they're not available everywhere else but I'm sure if they go anywhere officially they'll be fine. Imports will be harder but I don't think the components are too complicated.
