    Also Zoe just seems...huge? Maybe it's to make her model pop so you can see the details but it seems a tad excessive tbh

    My only major complaint is that the level has lost its original sunset vibe and richer colors. Hopefully the release build returns them.
    Super excited to see more Spyro 2!

    I believe the animation we were given with the Orb Collection is actually the Talisman Collection animation.
    The way the energy draws inward then shines outward is much closer to the old Talisman animation, so this could have been a placeholder animation like the placeholder dragon in the first trailer.
    In addition the time the Orb floats is similar to the amount of time the old Talismans floated as well.

      You know, I think you may be right. It could just be a stand-in animation because they haven't completed the orb animation yet! That animation would be fine for the talismans.

    I really want the bouncing orb to be a thing again. That has the feel of the person giving you the orb rather than it just showing up; at the moment it looks like it appears from nowhere

    Yeah, I defiantly agree about the orbs being too flashy. They are suppose to be powerful magic batteries, not fragments of god.

    Personally, I prefered how the Foremen emphasized how urgent the situation was. I don't know if the originals were overacting, but it gave me more of a sense of urgency to help them. These guys in the ReIgnited footage just take it too casually. Like the originals were, "Spyro, HELP! The idols we carved came to life! We'll be doomed if you don't help stop them!" But here it's like, "Uh, yea, Spyro. These idols we carved came to life, and with them swiping our food and locking us out is a real bummer. Can you do us a favor and get rid of them? Thanks." Doesn't seem to work well for me.

      I agree. Foreman Buds amazement when you complete the first puzzle was more believable in the original also. Helped the comic effect of his next line which is kind of missing for me here

      I strongly concur with this statement. The voice acting needs a lot of work. They seem to think if you give the characters accents, then that's all they need. But they need to have an emotional range appropriate to the situations behind them as well for it to work and be at least halfway decent.

      I'm also missing their goofy designs from the original game. Sure, they were much less expressive then, but their tiny eyes conveyed everything we needed to know about them; that they were silly little creatures out of depth and in desperate need of help. I loved it. Here... yes, they are more expensive all right. Most of the goofiness is gone, however.

    I really hope they dont change the cutscenes. That is my fear for riptos rage. We already saw the censorship in one, but I'm afraid of them censoring the cutscenes in two. Talking mostly about the ones that end in a comical murder/death, which is a lot of them.

      What censorship did I miss in the first game (that I assume you were referring to)? I also hope they won't change the intro and outro level cutscenes in Spyro 2. They're part of what makes the game memorable and unique as the other Spyro games don't have that.

    Had to show this to my grandmother she a fan of you because of her fav purple dragon coming back, and so far the only think she complaining about is why the people playing the demo can't play spyro well!

    You know what JUST hit me? The orb flash might be a placeholder. The orb itself looks unfinished and seriously, that TOTALLY looks more like Spyro getting a talisman!

    I'd prefer gems, baskets and things like that to be bigger. Now we have actual 3D grass they seem to get hidden more behind the grass blades, making them stand out less.

    It's missing the orange tint kinda sunset vibe from the original in my opinion. The skybox looks too muddy . And the level feels too closed in. Oh and Zoe needs her yellow dress back.

    I'm glad I'm not the only concerned with some of the small details. I agree with everything you point out and I think the orbs should have a much deeper green.

    I'm really confused by Zoe's design - the colours are so muddy and sad, and in general she just looks a sort of brownish beige all over. Why can't a wood nymph have a little green too, TfB?
    I LOVE the look of the level as a whole. Usually I'm really attached to colour palettes but this beautiful morning sunshine vibe they've made just looks great. The tiki designs are fantastic and I couldn't have imagined better for this level overall.
    Totally agree about the text box. The font choices in general to me have felt sort of childish (not in a nice nostalgic way, more just cringey?) and the rounded futuristic bubble style of the text box is just bizarre. I liked the gilded edge aspect the originals were going for (however crude they may look now).
    Still not convinced on the bouncy animation on the gem counter. Adds to that strange childish feel I'm getting from the fonts.

    I have one complaint and that is the lighting. I just wish it was more red or orange. Almost like a sunset. It just feels to green.

    It may just be me but sparx seems REALLY slow to pick gems up. Almost as if he gets distracted easily and you have to walk within cm of the gem for sparx to remember to pick gems up. It also seems really inconsistent on when he wants to aquire gems and when he wants to ignore them.

      Honestly I think it could just be that all of the gameplay we've seen is Spyro casually walking or running not like at least how I personally played where you just charge through everything and he zips all over

    It's a big nitpick, but am I the only one that really doesn't like the water? Between the lack of ripples, particle effects, more ribbon like waterfalls, and Spyro's swimming, it just doesn't rub me the right way. The more realistic, deep water is really nice looking, but it doesn't really match the more stylized waterfall. I think the water needs to be more realistic or more cartoons, one or the other, but not both. I like how he swims slowly underwater and kicks with his feet, but the charge is really stiff and lacks water movement. His new breast stroke doesn't feel right either. I much preferred when he had a doggy paddle and his wings and tail moved a little to help guide him. He doesn't drip or look damp at all when he comes out of water either. I was really expecting him to shake off like a dog and have cute, little, wet footprints when he walked after, but he came out bone dry, which was a bit disappointing. I know the game is far from done yet, but I'm really not liking these now. Definitely not a game ruiner by any means, but I always find that poor water graphics take away from the beauty of the rest of a game. It's distracting, y'know? In Dark Souls 3 (more realistic) and Sly Cooper (stylised), the water graphics are a joy to look at and interactive, but the water in Horizon Zero Dawn (a super realistic game) and the Skylanders series (cartoony) just doesn't match the quality of the rest of the game, distracting from it, like a blemish. I don't know. I've always been very particular about water graphics. I love it when it's done right, but hate it when done wrong.

      I agree, the water looks very flat and lacks visual interest. The biggest problem is the lighting, I think-- there's no reflection of light onto the bordering environments.

    Yeah, I really liked the text box from the original and I agree that there’s too much going on now and too many swirls. I’m not a fan of the swimming - I loved how he used to bob up and down when still and his charge underwater made it feel a lot quicker than this one (plus there were a distinctive amount of bubbles before right?). Lastly I agree with the orb. The bouncing motion gave it more ‘matter’ to me and it made it seem like something really delicate but precious to collect. This just makes it look like an abstract orb of magic with no tangibility whatsoever.

    Thank you for pointing out the design flaws of Zoe out but I think there is one more that was missed, it's her wings they flap way to fast like beetle bug wings. Before they were slow and hypnotic with rainbow coloured transparent wings.

    They should change the box text colour... i tweeted them about this to make the colour yellow gold like the original... also the same for the gem counter... the animation on the orbs could be improved, i agree with some people saying they are using the talisman effect because it is not ready... but it would be nice some boucing. lol

    Spyro already did the cat animation in the orignal 2 games but he never did the stretch. Not necessarily new, just improved.

    My only issue is the orb not bouncing anymore, the whole orb scene just doesn't feel the same in my opinion. But I think TFB will work on all of this, they've earned my trust

    I'm a little worried about water tranparency, beacouse in oryginal you can see everything uderwater.
    This can be a huge deal in levels like aquaria towers where you don't see sharks in that litle green pool.

      I could see the appearance of the water being slightly different from level to level. This one in particular, since it's a spring, might be murkier to represent the minerals in the water. Kind of like how when you see hot springs animated a lot of them are represented as that sort of opaque blue-green. Since Aquaria Towers is an underwater metropolis in the ocean, its water will likely look very different.

      I would also like to point out that due to the placement of the levels, this is most likely the first level the players will be able to swim in. If the water is not transparent enough to be like "hey, you can swim here", it might trouble new players coming from Spyro 1 (no swimming) to Spyro 2.

    I REALLY, REALLY, hope that they restore the orb bounce. Spyro 2 won't be the same without it. I don't mind if it bounces on the spot as you suggested, as long as the sound is the same(ish)!
    On the other hand, I do like the textbox. *Especially* the swirly font. I would maybe say may the background flatter - as it has a weird, slightly old fashioned 2000s web design 3D look going on at the moment - but I do like the moving border.
    Overall, the level looks fantastic, and I look forwards to playing it as soon as they correct the orb!

    Idol Springs was one of my favorite levels in Spyro 2, so I had a hard time not tearing it apart when I watched the footage. First thing I didn't care for was that the level was not as orange as it was originally, but this is just a personal preference. I totally agree with the textbox; it seems a bit childish and a bit hard to read. I also really miss the chiming the orbs make when they bounce off of the ground to be claimed by Spyro. Something that I have to give MAJOR props on, though, is they kept the script throughout the level the same as the original, like the foremans and Hula Girl Stella said exactly what they did in the original. Also, another small detail I LOVED was the flag signifying the beginning of the level was not altered to something else. These are all very small nitpicks and I will still love the game when it comes out. I just hope they show Elora and the Avalar gang soon!!!

    That orb animation killed my nostalgia on the spot, I like it it however I wouldn't want it to replace all of the orbs animations, I liked when they would fetch it to spyro as if they were playing with him.

      93bendzsi yeah im worried aswell, even said this on one of Canadian guys previous videos about how they've shown off so much from the first game and they have so little time to show everything from the second and third ones

      93bendzsi as far as I'm aware this is completely normal, a lot of developers work on the game until just before (and in a lot of cases, after) the game releases, just so it can be as polished and smooth as possible

      Games are generally in Beta until the they they go Gold, meaning the day they are sent off to be printed onto discs. None of that is worrying, it is pretty standard. That said, this footage does not show the current version of the game. Marketing footage is never very recent, as they are using builds that range from a couple of weeks old to a couple of months old. Playable builds of the game are only created whenever they are actually needed for testing before the davs can continue work on a certain feature and even then they are only used for marketing if they are stable enough. Much of the stuff missing or being odd in this footage were likely already added or fixed by now.

    Here are some of my "concerns" if you will. I feel like the sparkles on the power up portal near the end of the level when you free the six characters from the idol need to be there. Also, the zap from it would be nice too. Also, like you said I feel like the text boxes when interacting with different characters need to be simplified like the original game was. The text boxes now seem a little overwhelming and catoonish in my opinion. That's just me though. Besides some aesthetic things the game overall looks great. I feel like a little kid again seeing these levels as a young adult!

    i have alot to nitpick about only cause ive been playing the trilogy since i was 3, with ripto’s rage being my most played out of the three
    i dont really like the gem counter
    the enemy counter
    the orb counter
    the orb animation
    the design of the foremen
    the design of the hula girls
    im iffy on the design of the super speed power up
    i dont really think the gem noise is quite right
    i dont like the text boxes
    (this is really nit-picky, but,) i dont likr how the buttons in the final puzzle dont go down as soon as you step on them
    i dont like the hula dance (the length or the lack of an actual raincloud)
    i do however LOVE the level design, the level itself looks beautiful
    i love the design of the idols
    i love the look of the gems themselves
    im okay with the look of the orbs
    im actually enjoy the new look of zoey, personally speaking
    im aware that things will still be changed, but as it stand right now, there alot im unsure about in the footage we got..

    That orb needs to have an alternating rotation with the gold rings as it bounces 2-3 times. A nice ding every time it hits the ground would be nice too.

    I really don’t have any complaints at all about how any thing looks. I love how the gems look so much, how they’re transparent, and they seem to glow. The only thing I guess I’m not crazy about is how the particle effects while picking up gems seem overwhelming, and almost take away from how good they look.

    It's looking really good and what we wanted from the remake considering they're building it almost from scratch, my only concern which has been bugging me for a while now. Spyro's horns are the wrong colour, they need to be more brown. At the moment they blend in too much with the rest of the spikes on his head and it really needs to be changed :)

    One of the sweetest details in the original Spyro was the " TRIANGLE to talk" over the head of the characters with golden moving letters, i hope they will include this. I really hope that.

    I don't think we will be happy with every redesign but on the whole, its looking really great. Just taking a look at the swimming mechanics, it looks like those have been smoothed out.

    THE FISH!! The fish you feed the totem, they are not orange and it allows you to feed the totem 2 different colors instead of just the one, this makes that minigame a lot easier, I hope they haven't dumped down the difficulty of all the minigames like this one.

    I've been playing spyro since I was 10 and now I happen to be an architecture student, artist and also went through game development courses. I've studied about building restoration, and this is not much different from what toys for Bob is doing here. The game is coming out great, the only things I'm worried about aside from Zoe's new design (that totally removed her older characteristics and gave her an aspect that no one has ever seen before, and if I were the art director this would have never past through me) is the aspect of the gems and some of the colors. Picking up gems on spyro games has always been for me an extremely satisfying experience! The gems were big, sparkly and they made a nice sound when you picked them up. Also, they clearly had different shapes, which doesn't seem to be the case here. Also, I think some of the graphics are still over cartoony (when it comes to the environments and scenarios) and some of the colors are over saturated (a good example of this is spyro's model itself) . Spyro was never meant to be a cartoony game except for the characters who all look pretty goofy and funny; it always seemed to me that the graphics and textures were actually trying to tell me a fairy tail, and it was supposed to make the game a beautiful experience.

      Ah, I forgot to say: I think they should have kept the original audio for some things that were super characteristic of spyro, like for example the sound of the gems, the thief mocking sound and maaaaybe the original voice acting. Depends on their intention there. And what Canadian guy said about the text box is true. Keep the same type for all the text and simplify it. Also, try not to make the text too cartoony.

    I think and hope the orb animation is using the talisman animation until it can be worked on more...I can see that being used for talismans if the brightness is worked on

    I absolutely love this. I love the mountaintop theme they went for and I love all the ways they've improved on the original. The only critiques I had you mentioned, so you've basically covered everything :)

    I posted this on JordanFringes video, but I'll say it again here. Maybe you'll see it!
    -I like that they changed the sound the gems make when you collect them. But......it still doesn't sound quite right to me.
    -Another thing that itches me is the hud. First of all, I liked how they changed the color of the gem icon from purple to green in the Lofty Castle footage. But then they changed it to blue here.:/ it's supposed to be green in 2 and 3.
    But my main issue with the hud is the placement of the different icons. The little enemy spirit icon as well as the dragon statue icon are in the middle. Meanwhile, Spyro's lives are in the right hand corner. In 2 and 3, the collectables should be on the right hand side and Spyro's lives should be in the middle. Very minor, i know. But it kinda becomes noticeable if you've played the originals.
    - One last thing! I miss the animation of the orbs bouncing towards Spyro. In here, they just sort of flash onscreen.

    Hopefully toys for bob see this and listen to its fans, not just ignore everyone and think it's all perfect. Idol springs is missing it's rich orange sunset with the lushous yellow sun. I hope they listen and not just wing it and grab people's money like some companies do.

      valcristPL Any company with that much money will most likely 100% wing a game without caring for there fans because they know people will buy it. This is what's lost in gaming these days, rushing games to make profit, not taking there time to make it good. Look at no man's sky..

      Yeah but, the first time Ripto's image popped out, it got a little backlash, and the new picture we've seen of him fixed the issues people complained about.

    I wonder if the gem counter changes colour depending on what version of the game is being shown? Could be a subtle way for TfB to know what version they've put out when they're referring back to it later.

    I'm really curious about the soundtrack for this level.
    My concerns are the same as the stuff mentioned in this video.
    The charge underwater animation just doesn't make any sense to me without some sort of wiggle to propel Spyro forward.
    Someone also mentioned that Spyro's limbs clip through each other during the walk animation.

    I haven't seen anyone else voice it yet, but when Spyro charges enemies and flies back, he doesn't get the usual bounce along the ground like in the classic games. Initially I thought it was because the person playing moved but it looks to me like that may just be it. It's a minor detail in animation but it was a dang precious one.

    If there's one thing I really want them to really take care of, its the colors in the game, across all sections of it. Be it skyboxes, character colors, or the different area's, Insomniac chose those colors for a reason.
    The colors in the originals scream every single bit of the feel of the level, even the different sections of one level. I think the cave in the original of Idol Springs had a few darker colors IIRC, which straight away screamed cave to me.
    I've seen the interview/gameplay of this and if it weren't for the roof, I doubt I would have known it was really a cave.
    I know they said they don't want to just make the originals but with updated graphics, but I cannot stress how important the color choices Insomniac made are. That and the music, dear god that original music is boss. Looking forward to how they do that.
    This even extends to the UI somewhat, I feel, as especially that gold text is Spyro.
    I'm really looking forward to this game, but at the same time, I'm kind of scared as to what changes will be there and if it can be a worthy game.
    Maybe I'm looking at it too critically, but I feel like I can't help it. I grew up with Spyro. The first three games where my first video games, and that appreciation and love only grew as I got older and just saw how much love, sweat, tears, dedication, thought and soul went into those games.
    I hope to love this game as much as the originals.

    I'd really like for the sky box to be more of a sunset color. i just kind of prefer it instead of the dull grey/green ish color, I'd be more fun to look at, and It would fit more with the magic/fantasy feel like the original games.

    My biggest issue is with the water aesthetic. By the looks of it, they're probably still working on it, but the way the water interacts with light could definitely be improved. In particular, the lack of reflection from the water's surface onto bordering surfaces makes the water look dark and uninviting. There's also not enough visual information to tell you where the surface is, which seems to be mostly because there's no light refraction effect yet.

    I loved the original Spyro games and this looks like it will be lots of fun.

    i personally would LOVE to hear my orb bouncing sounds.. it was so, soooo satisfying as a kid to get the orbs and hear them bounces towards me before sparkling into my thin air pockets :P

    Everything looks wonderful. One little detail is missing is the workers safety glasses (or goggles), they have that in the original. Hopefully if they bring it back to the workers, just a few, not much who wears them.

    I saw that the gems on the grass were sometimes hidden and watching this gameplay I was wondering where the gems I remembered from the back were at, then I found that they were hidden. That kinda brings to the fact that the grass is either to long (or high up) or the gems didn’t pop out enough ( personally I think it’s the grass that’s effecting it) for that I think that should be changed especially for newer players that don’t know where all the gems are at from the original game. So what I am trying to get at is that if that could be changed that would be amazing and very helpful!!

    2:11 yeah, lots of people have that kind of problem. They look at a Alpha or Beta version of a game and say that will dictate how the game will be. Happened with Darksiders 3. People said the Game was gonna suck because they saw 11 minutes of the Alpha

    I 100% agree with this video! My only concern that wasn't mentioned in the video is that Spyro's wings are stiff in the sense that, in the originals the wings would flap while being idle. I would like to see them add that effect as I feel it would boost the liveliness of Spyro. Also, I think while charging his wings drift waaaay too far behind him. Yes, in the originals they did drift backwards a bit, but I personally do not like the changed exaggerated effect of going waaaay back to his back. Other than that I absolutely LOVE the way this game looks and I think Toys For Bob is doing an amazing job at putting this together! I cannot wait for September to come! This game looks so beautiful and amazing!

    I miss the orb bouncing along and onto Spyro's nose. It's fine if they don't want to have that, but the light of it should be toned down, I don't want to be blinded every time I get an orb.

    Another change that I noticed is that in the original game they tapped the locks very softly with the hammer and the original, Where as in the remake it's a much more exaggerated animation.

    Great video! The only thing I personally have any real gripe with, is the swimming charge. I was kinda hoping for something more like A Hero's Tail's animation but otherwise I am pretty content with the footage though I wouldn't mind if they addressed what you pointed out here. :)

    I absolutely agree with the font. It's too much. I don't mind the box animation itself but the curly font is too much.
    I agree with the vases. They don't even look blue at all as is. Too monochrome.
    I didn't even notice the auto save animation. That's amazing. I love it!
    Zoe definitely needs to be a brighter yellow.
    It doesn't bother me how high the walls are. But if it is a mountain spring, on top of a mountain, then you should probably be able to see the sky.
    Omg, I didn't even pay attention to the swimming animation. Charge swimming looks so stiff XP
    I agree with the orb animation being too much. I also don't like the orb itself. I think the green part inside would look good still being poly like a cut gem. I definitely think it should be a HD copy of the original orb animation. It was beautiful simple and rewarding.

    I like how the eyes of the Tikis makes them look crazy instead of just heartless monsters. Zoe's eyes are really huge, though. Kinda disturbing but nothing major.

    I agree with a lot of the comments concerning:
    The foreman's eye's
    The gem counter
    Zoe's colourings and the orb animation. I feel these are things that could be easily tweaked and it'd make all the difference!
    Hope Toys for Bob fix this but other than that I'm actually happy with everything so far!! Well done

    Personally, I like the text box and have no problem with it. I also think Zoe looks fine honestly, but if they added a glow affect (like what Sparx has) I think that would be good. Everything else I pretty much agree with. There needs to be some fanfare (of the non-nuclear variety) for the orbs and certain "cinematic" challenge outcomes, like the hula dancers.

    My only complaint is that I wish they used a bigger model for the more grown up Spyro of the 2nd and 3rd games, just like in the originals. Using the Spyro 1 model in Spyro 2 and 3 just kind of throws me off a bit. I was looking forward to seeing how older Spyro would look. Surprised nobody really seems to be talking about this.

      For example, in Spyro 2 and 3, Spyro's wings were much more grown and spread out, whereas in Spyro 1 his wings were more shriveled up. In the remaster they seem to be using Spyro 1 Spyro for all 3 games. This is fine for Spyro 1, but in 2 and 3 he just seems too small!

      I normally wouldn't be this picky, but here I think it's justified since it's the main character that you will be seeing for 100% of the game. I hope this is just a placeholder and that they'll replace it with a more accurate model for 2 and 3.

    My biggest concern is that I still want the orbital glitches in the game. For one, the swimming in air glitch at Idol Springs will be missed for the reason that they raise the area that was easy to jump out of bounds. Second, the double jump will most likely be fixed! Otherwise, the game is beautiful!

    I always imagined that level more wet and swampy for some reason. This looks more like regular grass level. But that's just me. I'm the vast minority with this.
    And also the lightning logo for the turbo gates.
