    Awesome stuff! As I told you on IG, I've already watched this at least a half dozen times, most recently pausing with each of his comments and then trying to see what words I can understand. I think if he spoke slower I would probably be okay, but the speed of it is challenging for me. 我的中文跟孩子一样。hahaha.
    First of all, you've definitely improved a ton in the last couple months -- even since Phoenix. I told you this already so that isn't anything new.
    Second, I'm impressed with your endurance. You can basically walk back to the start and then start your next line of basics. Right now my endurance is so low that even after I walk back I have to rest a good minute before I have enough breath to go again. So ... I'm super jelly.
    Finally, thank you for posting this. It is super interesting (at least to me) and I love watching wushu basics. So, I vote for more of these. And, like you, when I post my own basics up I assume people would get simultaneously bored and disappointed (and maybe feel like they wasted their time), but I guarantee that, at least with your videos, that isn't the case. Maybe you can do a once-a-month revisit of your basics to see how they've improved over the past 30 days? Or ... y'know ... not that. But it's all good stuff so keep up the great work! Jiyaou! 加油!

      Ah you're too kind!!!
      Re: endurance. Hahaha actually I cut out all the dead time when I'm just standing there with my hands on my knees 😂 we keep a good pace tho! It actually amazes me how, during group classes with the kids, dingwei is bouncing off the walls too, demoing things and instructing and whatnot haha .. it baffles me that he as so much energy!! And then I remember he was a professional athlete and everything makes a bit more sense hahaha.
      Ah 💕 thank you! Yeah I think this type of content (wushu basics/training at a non professional level) is maybe even more super niche?? If that's possible?? But gold to the right people... All 5 or so of us hahaha 😂 it means so much that you appreciate it!!! Thank you for the comment, jiayou!!!

      Oh and re: Chinese, yes!! It's actually really interesting that he uses so few different words to express almost everything. Tiny vocabulary + a handful of grammar structures + a lot of ear training to recognize/anticipate patterns and adjust to the speed = all you need to get through practice...I think??

    Great video as always. I found this one is interesting both for the wushu part and chinese part. There is a lot of wushu related content on internet, but since I'm in a close situation (SRE engineer, with a level in wushu a bit lower than yours but not too far and learning chinese), for me your videos are always particularly interesting and motivational. Thank you :)

      So crazy! I'm kind of dumbfounded at how many wushu ppl with tech jobs and interest in Chinese I've run into since posting these videos... So cool. Best of luck with your training and please do let me know if there's content youd like to see more of! I guess you're exactly my super niche target audience 😅 jiayou!

      @@RebeccaChinn lol you're right I'm definitely part of your target audience. I think that as long as you are enthusiastic about what you do, you will produce quality videos. Also I haven't watch all your videos so far, but for know I particulary like the ones where you train with your coach and the "3 Levels of Wushu" with Brandon Sugiyama. Btw how's your head to toe now ?

    • @RebeccaChinn
      @RebeccaChinn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robingiraudon8955 great question!! Got head to toe both sides!! It was easier than I expected, as my consistency wasn't perfect but I still got there. The hard part now is editing down 30 days of footage 😂
      Thanks for the feedback on the vlogs! Yeah I've actually thought a lot about dipping into more established, popular vlog topics like software engineering and career .. there's a ton of interest in wushu online but a lot of it is in different languages like Spanish and Chinese and even farsi. I definitely am more interested in wushu videos than engineering videos hahaha so I guess we'll ride this out and see how it goes. Thanks again for the comment!

    • @robingiraudon8955
      @robingiraudon8955 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RebeccaChinn Please don't switch to vlog topics like software engineering or career, except if it's career in wushu. 😂
      Congratulations for your head to toe on both sides, I'm still so far from it. For me it's the worst and most painful stretching ever 😅, both splits are much easier. So I can't wait to see the video, Jiaoyou !

    Cool video! Basics are the beeeeeest!
    I know the amount of work you've put in this video, because subbing in one language is a pain, so with chinese + Pinyin, I know you've spent hours just on the subs haha.
    For a future video, you should interview your coach! That'd be super cool. At least I know I'd love to watch that.

    • @RebeccaChinn
      @RebeccaChinn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol! You know the struggle 😂😂😂 do you use any special tools for the captions? Was thinking that this may be the first thing I outsource if I do more of this style content....

    • @RebeccaChinn
      @RebeccaChinn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And thank you!!! I was thinking of doing an interview but my conversational Chinese is such trash haha.... Will think of the best way to do this.... What kind of questions are most interested in?

    • @wushuquestofficial
      @wushuquestofficial 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RebeccaChinn 100% agree, I hope my channel get enough success so that I can outsource subtitling one day 😂
      Because I find the TH-cam subtitle tool more user-friendly than premiere, for short videos I first use that, then download the subs and import it into my premiere project. This means exporting twice your video (once to put it on TH-cam so that you write and sync the subs, then a second time after you've imported those SRT into your project). I think it's worth it for short vids. But for long ones, exporting takes too much time so you don't really save any in the end.
      That's all I know!

      @@RebeccaChinn I personally like questions about one's wushu life. I'm always amazed by the life of any master / coach.
      Then what I feel most people also like is tips, especially when it comes from a Chinese champion. It doesn't have to be a tutorial, but something like "how to set up a training program" etc. "5 tips to boost your Wushu by Chinese champ Ding Wei" would definitely have great success I think 😁

    Basics are great to see even if it's not 'exciting broad appeal' content. I'm always looking to see what drills and corrections other wushu students are running and trying to glean whatever tidbits of insight I can. You've shown kicks and combos in this video, perhaps you could do one on jumping drills/corrections/cues sometime soon.
    Was great seeing the combo drills too for the Dan pai Jaio and Shaun Yao movements. I always feel so slow popping up from the the drop stance to the stand before the hammerfist, you make it look easy!

    • @RebeccaChinn
      @RebeccaChinn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice!!! So glad you like it. Yeah I feel like watching this type of content requires like, a different brain state than other more vlog-y stuff? Like it just needs a bit more attention to get anything out of, but if you invest it, there are huge returns haha.
      Oof yeah popping out of a drop stance took years of training my like, hip and leg muscles, definitely not easy to do fast... but helps when a coach is yelling "faster!" at you the whole time hahaha. Jiayou!!!
