I can speak from experience personally, and within my working and social circles. Being ‘on the gear’ so to speak can vary greatly. 3 people could take exactly the same amount over the same period of time and 1 person could be still extremely high functioning and you would hardly know, another could be a jibbering mess and the third person could be somewhere in between. Just where Oliver fits in that equation only he and his close friends will know.
No one said anything about Melbourne having 2 rucks when Gawn and Jackson won them a premiership in 2021. It wasn’t till they tried Gawn and Grundy last year it failed and everyone’s talking. Here’s why…. Brodie Grundy is better in the ruck contest the Luke Jackson but he is not versatile. Despite what Kane says Jackson CAN play around the ground so he’s not a liability as a forward like Grundy was. Darcy will be the primary ruck while jackson plays forward (and sometimes midfield) and will also fill in to give him a rest. Darcy and Jackson will be 🔥
They were considering Grundy in the all Australian ruck at one point last year before Gawn couldn't do much as a forward and they moved Grundy and than gaslight him.

On the depth stats, interesting but surely after some point if a team has low depth for a decent period of time the Sr Coach (eg. Hinkley) cant keep getting an out. He probably did coach really well in 2024 but are Port making fundamental off season errors in list management? Surely the coach has a big say in this. With the media scrutiny they face I would want to be. Ken has been there a long time, only coach that should survive that long and have an average list is one off a recent premiership win then building for next one (eg maybe finally Chris Scott). Now everyone is over-rating Port's list and Ken is on a hiding to nothing. Im not really sure if Port a contender in 2024 on that depth score but because he's been there so long almost "have" to be. Dangerous territory. A departure of ways might’ve been better for coach & club there. He should have another go at a different club, dont think we sign him over to the dead coach pasture yet. Not a Port fan, but would be nervous if i was.
Ratagolea and BZT could work incredibly well and allow Allir to be All Australian again, or they could be total flops and struggling to get a spot, time will tell.

One thing that people discount is the support factor. You see teams like Collingwood and Carlton this year, the support in their games having a huge factor. Same with Brisbane at the Gabba. Teams like Gold Coast and GWS will never get that kind of support, and imo was the difference in GWS not being able to win a flag during the 2016-2019 period when they had the best list.
Jackson is a forward who can also ruck. What is Kane on about? I do agree with him that Freo are crazy for having invested so much salary on their ruck stocks over an extended period of time. Rucks aren't worth that type of investment. How do you assess depth when the new draftees have zero value for such an assessment and you use last year's list? I rate GWS a big chance this year just the same. Kane will take satisfaction out of North being rated last for depth. He is going to hate it when North starts climbing back to relevance in 2025 on the back of a shipload of young talent.
I feel for Oliver. Hes obviously a drug addict but to be honest he's young and no one controls the environment they grow up in. No one knows what type of situation he grew up in. The drugs might be a way of coping with past trauma. I hope he gets well.
Since entering the AFL system Oliver has lived a privileged life with access to the best of medical help and counselling. Some people are just a trainwreck, although Ben Cousins was still able to function in the AFL to a high level despite his substance abuse issues. It remains to be seen if Oliver can as well, but the Dees won't give him as much latitude as the Eagles gave Cousins.
MFC culture is clearly chaotic. Coach accused of drug and sexual abuse... One of their list members caught coked up in the middle of the season, that player seems to have a close relationship with Clayton Oliver .... Who would've thought the charcuterie and champagne crew like the expensive stuff. It's amazing the protection racket the sports media put up for the AFL.
Cornes still dislikes Richmond forgets Lynch had the highest average for goal scoring before injury 8th is acurate just simple hatred in his rose tinted lenses!
We'll give Oliver a magic free pass because he just lost his licence and he didn't want to get a lift from the 100s of people he knows that drives or just get a uber/taxi ect. It doesn't matter that he endangered himself and everyone else on the road during the busiest time of the year when the main focus is the road toll. What a clown.

I’ve had a few head knocks in my time but can someone confirm Kane is actually geeing up the Blues?
Depth has been an issue for Port for many years. Too many deficiencies in key positions to compete in September.
